Ataxia-telangiectasia may vary significantly in different patients. Progressive cerebellar ataxia and telangiectasia are present in all patients, and the "café au lait" pattern on the skin is common. The tendency to infections ranges from very pronounced to very moderate. The incidence of malignant neoplasms, mainly tumors of the lymphoid system, is very high.

Asystole is a cardiac arrest accompanied by the disappearance of its electrical activity.

Astrocytoma of the spinal cord is about 9 times less common than brain tumors and mainly affects adults. In most cases, benign astrocytomas become malignant - this occurs in about 70% of patients.

Astrocytoma, especially its malignant variants, is more often diagnosed in middle-aged and older male patients. But more often does not mean always. There are cases of the disease in women as well.

A more likely factor is hereditary predisposition, but it does not explain why brain astrocytomas are not diagnosed in the prenatal and early postnatal period. It seems that this is an acquired pathology, but what triggers the process in this case?

Astrakhan rickettsial fever (synonyms: Astrakhan spotted fever, Astrakhan fever, Astrakhan tick-borne spotted fever) is a rickettsiosis from the group of spotted fevers, transmitted by the tick Rhipicephalus pumilio and characterized by a benign course, the presence of a primary affect, fever, and a maculopapular rash.
Astigmatism is common in healthy children. Let us recall that off-axis retinoscopy in newborns contributes to overdiagnosis of astigmatism.
Asthmatic status is a severe, prolonged attack of bronchial asthma, characterized by severe or acutely progressive respiratory failure caused by obstruction of the airways, with the formation of patient resistance to the therapy (V.S. Shchelkunov, 1996).

WA Knauss et al. (1981) developed and implemented the APACHE (Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation) classification system, applicable to adults and older children, which provides for the use of routine parameters in the intensive care unit and is designed to assess all major physiological systems.
Aspiration pneumonia and pneumonitis are caused by the aspiration of toxic substances, usually stomach contents, into the lungs. The result may be undetected or chemical pneumonitis, bacterial pneumonia, or airway obstruction. Symptoms of aspiration pneumonia include cough and shortness of breath.

Meconium aspiration is a type of respiratory distress syndrome characterized by airway obstruction due to amniotic fluid entering the fetal tracheobronchial tree.

A disorder of the spermatogenesis system in the form of a lack of sperm (seminal fluid) release during ejaculation (ejaculation) with normal sexual arousal is defined as aspermia (or aspermatism).

Asperger syndrome is a disorder whose nosological independence has not been determined; it is characterized by the same type of qualitative disturbances in social interaction as typical childhood autism, against the background of normal cognitive development and speech.

Aseptic meningitis is an inflammation of the meninges with lymphocytic pleocytosis in the cerebrospinal fluid in the absence of a pathogen according to the results of a biochemical bacteriological study of the CSF.

Ascites is a condition in which free fluid accumulates in the abdominal cavity. Most often, the cause is portal hypertension. The main symptom is an increase in the size of the abdomen.

Ascariasis (Latin: ascaridosis) is a helminthiasis from the group of intestinal nematodoses caused by roundworms (usually Ascaris lumbricoides). Characterized in the early stages by allergic phenomena, and in the late stages by dyspeptic phenomena and complications when helminths penetrate into other organs, as well as as a result of intestinal obstruction or spasm.

Ascariasis is an invasion by the roundworm Ascaris. It may initially occur as an allergic disease with fever, skin rashes, "flying" eosinophilic infiltrates in the lungs, hypereosinophilia of the blood; in the chronic stage, ascariasis is usually accompanied by moderate abdominal pain, dyspeptic disorders, and sometimes asthenia.
Asbestosis - asbestos-related lung diseases caused by inhalation of asbestos fibers. Diseases include asbestosis; lung cancer; formation of benign focal pleural lesions and thickening of the pleura; benign pleural effusions and malignant pleural mesothelioma.
