Thrush or vaginal candidiasis refers to infectious diseases, and is caused by fungi of the genus Candida. They are the natural microflora of the vagina, but under certain conditions they begin to multiply intensively, turning into a disease. It manifests itself in white cheesy discharge, itching, redness and burning of the vulva. These unpleasant symptoms bring discomfort both to everyday life and to intimate relationships and require therapeutic intervention. The vaginal remedy Terzhinan will help get rid of thrush.

Indications Terjinan for thrush

The drug is a gynecological antimicrobial and antiseptic agent. What is Terzhinan used for? It is effective against vaginitis of various origins caused by microorganisms sensitive to its components:

  • pyogenic bacteria that form purulent discharge;
  • Candida fungi;
  • mixed infection - trichomonads, yeast-like fungi, obligate anaerobe;

Terzhinan is also indicated for the treatment of vaginal trichomoniasis, non-specific vaginitis, prevention of inflammatory purulent complications before surgery on the pelvic organs, installation of an IUD, before childbirth, abortion, etc.

Release form

The drug is produced in the form of vaginal tablets, which are oblong in shape, cream-colored, with the letter T imprinted on them. Sometimes they are called suppositories, but in fact the technology for making suppositories is different, they use a lipophilic base (animal and vegetable fats) in combination with wax or paraffin, approved for use in medicine.

Pharmacodynamics

The properties of terzhinan are determined by its components. The active substances of the drug include:

  • neomycin sulfate is a broad-spectrum antibiotic;
  • ternidazole - active against anaerobic bacteria, does not require The drug is produced in the form of vaginal tablets, which are oblong in shape, cream-colored, with the letter T imprinted on them.   • Nystatin - destroys Candida;
  • Prednisolone is a hormonal anti-inflammatory drug.

The composition ensures a constant acidic environment of the vagina and the integrity of its mucous membrane.

Pharmacokinetics

The pharmacokinetics of the drug has not been studied.

Dosing and administration

The use of a vaginal tablet should be preceded by thorough hygiene of the genitals and hands. After that, it is lowered into water for a few seconds and inserted into the vagina as deeply as possible. It is best to lie on your back with your knees bent. After that, you need to lie down for another 10-15 minutes.

The instructions define the dose (1 tablet 1-2 times a day) and the duration of treatment up to 10 days. Only the established diagnosis of "mycosis" prolongs the therapy up to 3 weeks. During menstruation, the treatment is not interrupted. For preventive purposes, the drug is prescribed once every 3 months in the amount of 6 tablets.

On what day does Terzhinan help against thrush? Everything is very individual. Some women feel relief after 3 days, others need a longer period, and there are those who do not receive a therapeutic effect at all.

  • Terzhinan for men

Not only women, but also men suffer from thrush. Unprotected sex when one partner is infected leads to the spread of the infection to the other. Sometimes this occurs as a result of long-term use of antibiotics or weakened immunity.

Most often, the localization of thrush is observed on the head of the penis. Itching, redness, irritation, swelling of the foreskin occur. In addition to the genitals, candidiasis can appear in the oral cavity, skin folds: in the groin, armpits, perineum, between the toes.

After diagnosis, antifungal ointments and gels are usually prescribed for treatment, and Terzhinan is also used, making a solution from it and treating the affected surfaces.

  • Application for children

Terzhinan is approved for use in children.

Use Terjinan for thrush during pregnancy

Pregnancy places certain restrictions on many medications due to their potential harm to the development of the fetus. Terzhinan is no exception. It can only be prescribed by a doctor, and in the first trimester of pregnancy, most likely, he will not do this. The treatment regimen is the same as for other categories of patients.

Contraindications

The drug is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to its components, leading to allergic reactions.

Side effects Terjinan for thrush

Itching, redness, and tingling may occur in areas where Terzhinan is applied. Allergic reactions are possible on the skin.

Overdose

There are no known cases of overdose.

Interactions with other drugs

Terzhinan is not recommended together with acetylsalicylic acid, as there is a risk of bleeding.

Concomitant treatment with anticonvulsants and hypokalemic drugs, digitalis, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs requires caution.

Terzhinan and alcohol

Terzhinan is intended for local use and, it would seem, alcohol should not affect its effectiveness, but only in individual cases of its use. Systematic use during a treatment session is not compatible with the antibiotic in the composition of Terzhinan, will reduce its effectiveness, and may contribute to the transition of the disease to a chronic form. It is possible that an allergy will appear at a time when the infection has already been cured, which will be interpreted as a lack of therapeutic response. This will force the appointment of even stronger drugs.

Storage conditions

The drug is suitable for storage conditions standard for most medications: in a dark place, at a temperature not exceeding +25ºС.

Shelf life

The shelf life of Terzhinan is 3 years.

Analogues

What should those do who did not find terzhinan helpful against thrush? There are many other similar drugs that are worth turning to. Among them are:
