Terzhinan is a combined antifungal and antibacterial drug for the treatment of gynecological pathologies.

Its therapeutic activity is related to the properties of the drug's elements. The polyvalent formula of the drug promotes full-fledged local therapy for vaginitis of any nature: parasitic, infectious or mixed. [ 1 ]

Additional elements of the drug help maintain the integrity of the vaginal epithelium in cases of infections that occur with inflammation, and also maintain physiological pH balance indicators. [ 2 ]

Indications Terginan

It is used for the following disorders:

  • vaginitis of bacterial origin (standard purulent microflora);
  • a non-specific form of vaginitis that is recurrent in nature;
  • vaginosis of bacterial origin;
  • vaginitis of trichomonas or fungal (Candida albicans) origin;
  • vaginitis of mixed genesis (the influence of anaerobic microflora, which contains trichomonads with gardnerella and yeast-like fungi);
  • prevention of the development of complications of an inflammatory-purulent nature before minor and extensive operations in the pelvic area (abortion or childbirth procedure, metrosalpingography, before and after: insertion of a contraceptive into the uterus, diathermocoagulation and other operations).

Release form

The drug is produced in the form of vaginal tablets - 6 or 10 pieces inside a cell plate. There is 1 such plate inside the pack.

Pharmacodynamics

Ternidazole demonstrates activity against anaerobes, including gardnerella, and at the same time has a trichomonacidal effect.

Neomycin sulfate is an aminoglycoside that has activity against pyogenic vaginal bacteria.

Nystatin is an antifungal agent from the polyene group, which has an effect on Candida fungi. [ 3 ]

Prednisolone metasulfobenzoate Na is a corticosteroid with local anti-inflammatory effects.

Dosing and administration

The medicine is inserted deep into the vagina in a dose of 1 tablet per day (the procedure is performed before bedtime). When using the medicine during the day, the patient should remain in a horizontal position for 10-15 minutes after the procedure. The continuous therapeutic course lasts 10 days.

In case of vaginitis of candidal origin, treatment continues for 20 days. The course should be continued even when menstruation occurs.

Before administering the medicine, the tablet must be held under water for half a minute to soften it.

  • Application for children

The drug is prohibited for use in pediatrics.

Use Terginan during pregnancy

Terzhinan cannot be administered in the 1st trimester. In the 2nd and 3rd trimesters, as well as during breastfeeding, the medication can only be prescribed by a doctor if strictly necessary.

Contraindications

Contraindicated for use in people with a history of allergy symptoms associated with the action of active and additional components of the drug.

Side effects Terginan

Side effects include local symptoms such as burning and irritation (often during the first days of therapy). Allergy symptoms may also appear.

Storage conditions

Terzhinan should be stored in a place closed to small children. Temperature level – within 25°C.

Shelf life

Terzhinan is allowed to be used within a 3-year period from the date of sale of the pharmaceutical product.

Analogues

Analogues of the drug are the substances Neotrizol and Meratin combi with Cervugid.
