Peponen has a vegetable nature - it is based on oil extracted from pumpkin seeds.
The medication helps to relieve pain in persons with prostatitis, stabilizes the urinary process, enhances potency, activates immune function and weakens the growth of prostate cells. At the same time, it stabilizes the chemical structure of bile and metabolism, normalizes the functioning of the gallbladder and reduces inflammation. [1]
Demonstrates reparative, choleretic, anti-atherosclerotic, as well as metabolic, disinfecting, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory and antiulcer activity.
Indications Peponen
It is used to weaken the signs observed with a benign enlargement of the prostate (among those, increased frequency of urination at night and a painful process of urination).
Release form
The release of the drug is made in capsules - 10 pieces inside the cell plate. There are 10 such plates inside the pack.
Pharmacodynamics
The oil produced from pumpkin seeds contains a large amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids, as well as their derivatives, which are precursors of PGs. The presence of ergosterol, β-sitosterol and campesterol in the oil provides a modulating effect on COX.
Linoleic acid has a large number of biochemical properties, therefore it has a double effect - it is an extremely important fatty acid for the body, as well as a precursor of GHG elements.
Squalene with sterols are components of pumpkin seed oil and act as intermediates in the formation of sterols inside the human body, and at the same time significantly affect the lipoprotein structure of blood plasma (they significantly reduce LDL, which is why the proportions of lipoprotein composition are shifted towards HDL ).
Linolenic and linoleic acid act as precursors of PG binding, as well as precursors of cerebroside biosynthesis.
Indicators of tocopherol inside pumpkin seeds are more than 30%; tocopherol itself is an antioxidant. In addition, the drug is a powerful natural source of retinol. Pumpkin seed oil contains coenzyme Q, which is an important component in activating the action of human macrophages.
Selenium, like tocopherol, in experimental studies had a protective effect against enzymes, hormones, lipids and vitamins under the influence of oxidative destruction processes.
Pharmacokinetics
Fatty acids of the polyunsaturated variety penetrate into the body in the form of triacylglycerols. Then they participate in the processes of hydrolysis (with the participation of lipases of the small intestine and pancreas) and pass into the cells of the intestinal epithelium in the form of free-type fatty acids.
Inside enterocytes, they participate in reacylation, and then form chylomicrons together with cholesterol, as well as apoproteins and phospholipids. Chylomicrons are involved in the systemic circulation and lymphatic circulation, and in addition, they are cleaved under the influence of lipoprotein lipases, releasing fatty acids. Further, fatty acids penetrate into various cell walls, break down or accumulate.
Dosing and administration
The medication is taken after a meal, washed down with warm or cold water; serving is 2 capsules, 3 times a day. The treatment cycle lasts 1 month.
It is necessary to swallow the capsules quickly, without holding them in the mouth, because when the gelatin swells, the shell becomes sticky, which makes the swallowing process difficult.
- Application for children
Peponen is not used for pediatric therapy.
Use Peponen during pregnancy
The medication is not used to treat women.
Contraindications
Among the contraindications:
- severe intolerance to the components of the drug;
- active phase of ulcer development in the gastrointestinal tract;
- cholelithiasis.
Side effects Peponen
The main side effects:
- lesions affecting the digestive system: disturbances in the gastrointestinal tract (including heartburn, pain in the abdomen, dyspeptic symptoms and nausea); with prolonged use, diarrhea or loose stools occasionally appear;
- immune disorders: symptoms of hypersensitivity;
- dysfunction of the auditory organs and labyrinth: ear ringing.
Overdose
After a single use of drugs in an excessively large portion, dyspeptic disorders, lethargy and nausea may occur. The described manifestations disappear on their own after reducing the dosage of the drug or canceling it.
The introduction of large doses of Peponen over an extended period of time increases the likelihood of negative signs.
Interactions with other drugs
It is required to use the medicine extremely carefully and carefully in combination with anticoagulants (among them warfarin or acenocoumarol), because (as with the combined use of anticoagulants with food and other herbal extracts) this can cause an increase in the INR index.
Substances that block H2-endings, antacids, bismuth agents and drugs that slow down the activity of the proton pump, reduce the absorption of pumpkin oil and the intensity of the therapeutic effect of drugs.
Storage conditions
Peponen must be kept in a place protected from the penetration of small children. Temperature level - no more than 25 ° С.
Shelf life
Peponene can be used within 24 months from the date of manufacture of the medicinal product.
Analogs
The analogues of the medicine are Bioprost with Peponen Active and Pumpkin seed oil.
