Pepsan is included in the subgroup of antacid drugs, as well as combined substances of this type; it is used to reduce intestinal gas production.

Its main active ingredients are dimethicone with guaiazulene. Among the auxiliary elements of drugs are carrageenates with sorbitol, oil made from peppermint, Na cyclamate, purified water, etc.
Indications Pepsan
It is used in case of pain associated with peptic ulcer , as well as other pains inside the esophagus and gastrointestinal tract (without reference to the etiology of these pains), including heartburn and increased pH.

Pharmacodynamics
Dimethicone, which is the most common medicinal silicone, is used in gastroenterological processes (reduces foaming and bloating), and in addition has an absorbing and enveloping effect. The antacid activity of dimethicone allows it to protect the gastric mucosa.
Guayazulene exhibits regenerative, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Slows down the release of histamine through the mast cells of the gastric mucosa, reducing the rate of acid secretion. As a result, an antacid effect develops.
Dosing and administration
The medicine should be taken orally. One package of the drug corresponds to the 1st dosage. It is used before meals or in case of pain in the esophagus or stomach.
For 1 use, 1-2 packages of the medicine should be used. It can be used 2-3 times per day. The entire contents of the dosage bag must be fully utilized.
The selection of the duration of therapy is performed by the attending doctor personally, taking into account the effectiveness of the medication and the intensity of the developing manifestations.
It is forbidden to use in combination with other medicines, because such an introduction can slow down their therapeutic activity.

Use Pepsan during pregnancy

Contraindications
