Вагикаль

The herbal preparation Vagikal belongs to the pharmacological group of antimicrobial and antiparasitic drugs of natural origin. It is intended for use in gynecology.

Indications Vagical

In gynecological practice, Vagical vaginal suppositories can be used for local symptomatic treatment as part of a complex therapy for non-specific inflammations of the vagina and vulva caused by opportunistic microorganisms (Escherichia, enterococci, corynebacteria, streptococci, staphylococci, etc.). Pathological processes of this etiology are characterized by the presence of vaginal discharge, often accompanied by itching in the vestibule of the vagina, a burning sensation and a feeling of heaviness in the genital area.

Diseases for which the use of the drug Vagikal is indicated include: non-specific vaginitis (colpitis), atrophic colpitis (in women during menopause), non-specific bacterial vaginosis.

This herbal preparation can be used in the complex treatment of candidiasis and trichomonas vaginitis, as well as an auxiliary anti-inflammatory agent for cervical erosion.

Pharmacodynamics

The active ingredient of the herbal preparation Vagikal is calendula officinalis. Due to its chemical composition, this medicinal plant has an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect on mucous membranes damaged by inflammatory processes, thereby promoting their regeneration.

Carotenoids, flavonoids, resins, phytoncides, glycosides and other compounds contained in calendula have high biological activity. The most powerful local antimicrobial effect is produced by essential oils, as well as organic acids of calendula officinalis, in particular, salicylic acid.

The complex of biologically active substances of this plant suppresses the production of specific cytokine proteins and selective inhibitors, which leads to the cessation of the synthesis of hormone-like lipids in tissues - prostaglandins, which play a major role in inflammatory processes.

Thanks to the carotenoids contained in calendula, Vagikal helps to accelerate granulation and heal erosions of the mucous membranes of the female genitalia.

Pharmacokinetics

After administration, Vagical vaginal suppositories begin to dissolve, releasing the active substance of the drug, which after a short period of time begins to exhibit a therapeutic effect on the mucous membrane of the vagina and vulva.

The excipients included in the preparation as a base - macrogols - are water-soluble thermoplastic polymers (polyethylene glycols). In the food industry, under the index "food additive E 1521" they are used as a thickener; in the pharmaceutical industry - in the production of laxatives, suppositories and ointments. According to the manufacturer of Vagical, macrogols do not interact with the active substance, are not metabolized, do not change the pH level of the vagina and do not penetrate its biological membranes. It is also indicated that "macrogols act regardless of the composition of the vaginal microbiocenosis", although the nature of this action is not specified.

It is known that macrogols have the ability to hide membrane areas (epitopes) of antigen-recognizing receptors of B-lymphocytes and T-lymphocytes from the corresponding antigen-binding centers (paratopes) of human antibodies.
