Vagiclin is an antimicrobial and bactericidal agent that is actively used in gynecological practice.
Indications Vagicline
The drug is used to treat bacterial vaginosis and other infectious gynecological diseases, the causative agent of which is sensitive to Vagiclin. The drug is also used for antimicrobial treatment of the vagina before the onset of labor.
Release form
The drug Vagiclin is produced in the form of soft vaginal capsules, each of which contains the active substances clindamycin and clotrimazole 100 mg each.
The accompanying substances are silicone oil, white wax, gelatin, titanium dioxide, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate and sorbitol.

Pharmacodynamics
The active ingredients of Vagiclin are clindamycin (a lincosamide antibiotic) and clotrimazole (an imidazole derivative, an antifungal drug). The combination of these agents can prevent the growth of yeast-like fungi that can develop under the influence of clindamycin. This semi-synthetic antibiotic inhibits the production of bacterial proteins by affecting their ribosomes and influencing the processes of protein chain initiation. Although this antimicrobial agent is inactive in laboratory tests, in a living organism it immediately undergoes an ion exchange reaction, which produces a substance capable of destroying bacteria.
The antibiotic is active against a large number of gram-positive and gram-negative anaerobic infections, as well as gram-positive aerobic bacteria. It is effective against microorganisms that can cause bacterial vaginosis.
The second active substance, clotrimazole, is a synthetic antifungal and antitrichomonal drug, an imidazole derivative. The action of this agent is aimed at inhibiting the production of ergosterol, which is necessary for the creation of the fungal cell membrane. Due to this, the permeability of the membrane is disrupted, which provokes further dissolution of the cell.
Clotrimazole also increases the permeability of phospholipid liposomal capsules, reduces the total number of ribosomes. Thanks to the drug, hydrogen peroxide accumulates in the fungal cell, which contributes to its destruction.
Clotrimazole has a detrimental effect on yeast-like fungi, dermatophytes, streptococcal and staphylococcal infections, and trichomonas.

Pharmacokinetics
When the drug is used intravaginally for three days, approximately 30% is systemically absorbed.
The systemic effect of the drug when administered intravaginally is significantly weaker than when administered orally or by injection.
Active substances are metabolized in the liver and excreted from the body in the feces.
Dosing and administration
The drug Vagiklin is used intravaginally. The capsule is inserted deep into the vagina, it is more comfortable to do this in a lying position with legs bent at the knees. Use one intravaginal capsule at night, for a week. If necessary, the doctor can prescribe an additional course of treatment.
The drug should not be used during menstruation.
For antibacterial treatment of the vagina before the onset of labor, the product is used once or twice.
