Now let's talk about medicines, which consist of 2 active plant components. Preparations based on two herbs from bronchitis are good in that usually the components of the drug strengthen each other's action. In addition, the likelihood of a drug being ineffective will be lower.
Cough syrup with cyanosis and licorice
Contains extracts of roots and rhizomes of two plants noted in the name. Both cyanosis and licorice have good anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and expectorant action. Cyanosis is also characterized by diaphoretic, antipyretic and some spasmolytic action.
The drug shows good results in the treatment of bronchitis and other inflammatory pathologies of the broncho-pulmonary system, which are accompanied by a difficult and painful sputum discharge.
The syrup is packaged in 100 and 250 ml vials.
Method of administration and dose. The drug is intended for the treatment of adult patients. Assign syrup in a dosage of 5-10 ml at a time. Multiplicity of reception - 2-3 times a day.
If there are difficulties with swallowing the medication, the syrup in the prescribed dosage can be diluted in half a glass of water or a natural non-carbonated beverage. Take the medicine after meals, usually after half an hour.
Contraindications. In what cases is the drug not prescribed? With hypersensitivity to its components, severe violations of the liver or kidneys, stably high blood pressure, heart and vascular disease, hypokalemia. Undesirable reception of a sweet drug for patients with diabetes mellitus, intolerance to fructose, a violation of glucose metabolism.
Children do not prescribe the drug because of a lack of research in this area.
Use during pregnancy. Cyanosis is unlikely to harm a pregnant woman, which can not be said about licorice, the reception of which at this time is strictly prohibited. Thus, it must be said that the future mother will have to look for a more suitable medicine for fighting bronchitis.
Side effects. If the drug is taken within 1-2 weeks (usual course of treatment), then only allergic reactions can be observed against a background of hypersensitivity.
But long-term use is fraught with a violation of water-electrolyte balance: loss of potassium and calcium accumulation in the body (hypokalemia and hypercalcemia), edematous syndrome, increased blood pressure and other malfunctions in the heart. The appearance of such symptoms indicates an overdose and is a signal to cancel the drug.
Interaction with other drugs. It is not recommended to take the medicine at the same time with other drugs that contain licorice root (it is associated with severe overdose symptoms), laxatives (the drug already has a laxative effect), calcium preparations.
Caution is needed in the appointment of thiazide diuretics, aggravating the deficiency of potassium, corticosteroids (possibly an increase in the half-life), cardiac glycosides (with prolonged intake of syrup and drug to support the heart, the toxic effects of the latter may increase).
There is a possibility of reducing the effect of drugs from high blood pressure (antihypertensive drugs).
Reduction of the therapeutic effect and worsening of the patient's condition can be observed with simultaneous reception of expectorant and antitussive agents.
Storage conditions. Store the medicine away from children and sunlight. At room temperature, it retains a curative effect for 2 years.
Syrup of plantain
Sweet and quite tasty drug, which is produced by the company "Gerbion" and some other pharmaceutical companies, for example the Ukrainian company "Ternofarm". Judging by the name of the drug, you can take it for a one-component remedy. In fact, the syrup in addition to the plantain extract also contains an extract of mallow flowers. Increases and supplements the action of plant components ascorbic acid.
Pharmacodynamics. Thanks to the components of the drug, it helps to dissolve sputum, more easily expectorates, relieves inflammation and pain, improves nutrition and regenerative properties of body tissues, has antibacterial and antiviral effects. In addition, ascorbic acid helps to reduce heat and enhances the immunostimulating effect of mallow.
Method of administration and dose. Syrup is intended for the treatment of adults and children over 2 years of age. Until the age of 14, the drug is prescribed three times a day, older patients can treat the drug up to 5 times a day.
As for the dose, children under 7 years are recommended to give 1 tsp for taking. Syrup, adolescents under 14 years can take 1-2 tsp. The optimum dose for adult patients is 2 tsp.
The manufacturer recommends taking the syrup in its pure form, but drinking it with water. The course of treatment is not more than 1 week.
Contraindications. It is not recommended to treat the plantain with patients who have increased sensitivity to certain components of the drug, those who have inflammatory or ulcerative gastrointestinal diseases or have serious glucose metabolism disorders. Patients with diabetes should be careful, as the composition of the drug is sugar.
Side effects. Like many other phytopreparations, the only side effect of psyllium syrup is considered to be allergic reactions that occur against a background of hypersensitivity to the drug.
Storage conditions. The optimal storage temperature for the drug is room temperature, but not more than 25 degrees. The drug retains its properties in hermetically sealed packaging for 2 years, while a once-opened vial can already be stored for no more than 4 weeks.
Primrose syrup
Another sweet remedy for Herbion. The main active substances of the medicine are 2 plants primrose (root) and thyme (herb) in the form of an aqueous extract, as well as menthol, which facilitates breathing, which has some anti-inflammatory effect, which enhances the effects of thyme.
Pharmacodynamics. The root of the primrose gives the preparation an antitussive, secretolitic, enveloping effect, helps improve blood circulation in the respiratory system. Thyme is famous for essential oil called "thymol", which is characterized by antiseptic, expectorant, bronchodilator and spasmolytic action. Extract of thyme is also famous for its diuretic, analgesic and antispasmodic properties.
Among the indications for the use of the drug can be found almost all types of cough, observed in bronchitis, respiratory and cardiac pathologies: unproductive (dry), hampered, spastic, senile cough and bronchitis in smokers.
Method of administration and dose. The manufacturer advises to take the medicine with food or immediately after it. Drink syrup with warm water (about ½-1 cup).
The syrup of the primrose, like the plantain syrup, is allowed for the treatment of adults and children over 2 years of age. The drug is equipped with a measuring spoon, which in volume is similar to a teaspoon.
To small patients before the age of 7, the drug is prescribed in the amount of 1 measuring (tea) spoon, for adolescents under 14, the syrup can be given in a dosage of 1-2 spoons. The recommended frequency is three times a day.
Starting with 14 years at a time you can take already 2 tsp. Syrup, and the multiplicity of the intake is kept unchanged or increased to 4 times a day.
Contraindications. The drug is not prescribed for children under 2 years, patients with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, those who have problems with the absorption of sugars, congenital disorders of glucose metabolism, diabetes (due to the high concentration of sugar in the syrup),
The use of the drug during pregnancy is somewhat limited. In the first 3 months of pregnancy and during breastfeeding it is better to avoid treatment with the syrup of primrose, then the medication is allowed only with the permission of the doctor.
Side effects of the drug in the form of allergic reactions are observed infrequently. But here the excess of recommended doses can lead to the appearance of diarrhea and vomiting.
Storage conditions. To store the medicine, room conditions with a temperature of no more than 25 degrees are quite suitable. In such conditions, the medicine is safely stored for 2 years. If the vial was opened, it should be used within one month.
Bronchipret
Herbal preparation based on extracts of herb thyme and ivy leaves, which is released in the form of a sweet fragrant syrup (50 and 100 ml) and drops for oral administration (same volumes, a bottle with a dropper). Both components of the drug are famous for the secretolitic effect, as well as the ability to relieve spasms and bronchoconstriction, to fight disease-causing bacteria.
Method of administration and dose. The medicine in the form of a syrup containing no more than 7% of ethanol is intended for treatment of patients older than 1 year, and drops with an alcohol content of up to 19% can be given to children only from the age of six.
Syrup manufacturers recommend taking in pure form, washed down with water or other non-alcoholic and non-carbonated drink. Children metered dose of medicine poured into a tablespoon and diluted with water. Drops are usually taken with water.
Syrup "Bronchipret" does not provide the presence of a measuring spoon. The required dose is measured by means of a measuring cap. For children under 5 years of age, the recommended dose is 3.2 ml, for children up to 11 years - 4.3 ml, for older patients - 5.4 ml.
Regardless of the age of the patient, the drug is recommended to be taken 3 times a day for a week. If symptoms do not pass during this time, you should consult your doctor in addition.
As for the solution with extracts of herbs (drops), which are treated for patients older than 6 years, then children under 11 years of age are given in the amount of 25 drops, older children up to adulthood - 28 drops, adult patients - 40 drops. In this case, the frequency of admission is 4 times a day, and the course of treatment can last from 1.5 to 2 weeks with the possibility of repetition.
Contraindications. Syrup is not recommended for patients with hypersensitivity to various components of the drug and intolerance to fructose. In pregnancy and breastfeeding, treatment is undesirable, however, as in the period after the recent coding for alcoholism.
Caution is recommended for patients with diabetes mellitus, epilepsy and cerebral diseases, liver pathologies. Because of the alcohol content, it can lead to epigastric pain in gastritis, stomach ulcer and PDC.
In droplets, the content of alcohol is even higher, and therefore, with the above pathologies from their use must be abandoned.
Side effects. Taking a drug of any form of release in rare cases can cause the appearance of allergic reactions, including severe (with laryngeal edema and signs of suffocation), pains and cramps in the abdomen, nausea, diarrhea.
Storage conditions. Syrup and drops should be stored at room temperature for no more than 3 years.
Eucalyptus balm for the cold of Dr. Tyssa
This is a slightly unusual form of the drug when it comes to bronchitis, nevertheless an ointment based on essential oils of eucalyptus and pine with the addition of camphor oil helps well in any catarrhal pathology of the respiratory system when there is a cough with difficult sputum discharge.
Balsam effectively prevents stagnant phenomena in the bronchi and lungs, relaxing them and increasing the secretion of secretion by the bronchial glands, contributes to an easier expectoration of sputum, has antibacterial and local irritant effect, which also contributes to the intensive excretion of mucus from the bronchi.
Method of administration and dose. With bronchitis, balsam can be used in two versions:
- as a local remedy, which several times a day should be rubbed into the skin of the chest and back, after which the place of application is recommended to cover with a warm, soft cloth,
- for inhalation (for a glass of hot water take ½-1 tsp of balsam and inhale the therapeutic couples for several minutes, periodically pouring boiling water).
Treatment with balsam is carried out for 5-7 days.
Contraindications. Local treatment with the drug of children is possible only from 2 years of age. Use in infants can cause laryngospasm and choking. For inhalations, the drug is used in patients older than 12 years of age. By the way, inhalation is not recommended for acute inflammatory processes in the respiratory system, this treatment is more suitable for chronic forms of diseases.
In what cases is balsam treated inadmissible? When hypersensitivity to the components of ointment, bronchial asthma, whooping cough, pseudo-shock, convulsive readiness. Local treatment is not suitable for patients with lesions on the skin at the site of application (wounds, scratches, rash of viral nature, skin diseases). Balsam treatment during pregnancy and breast-feeding is not recommended.
The drug is not intended for internal administration.
Side effects. Despite its effectiveness in treating cough, balm is not completely safe, because its use can cause extremely unpleasant symptoms. This can be both skin irritation and allergic reactions during local application. And more serious common reactions: headaches, dizziness, nervous excitement, hallucinations, seizures, increased cough and bronchial obstruction (especially at night), bronchospasm, respiratory arrest. If the drug is used frequently in large areas of the body, there is a possibility of toxic effects on the kidneys and hearing organs.
It is not necessary to think that the dangerous symptoms that have been listed above appear at every step. Typically, such reactions are associated with hypersensitivity to the drug, excess dosages, ingestion or use of the drug in the acute phase of the disease. And yet you can not forget about such symptoms.
Storage conditions. At room temperatures, in conditions that exclude direct sunlight from entering the preparation, the balm is stored and retains medicinal properties for 3 years.
Transamin Balm
The preparation is identical to Eucalyptus balm of Dr. Taisa, but without the inclusion of camphor in the composition of the medicine, which somewhat expands the possibilities of its application. The active substances of the medicine are again the essential oils of eucalyptus and pine.
Balsam can be found on sale in aluminum tubes of various sizes, which is very convenient, given the different consumption of the drug for the treatment of adult patients and children. The volume of the drug can be 20, 40 or 100 ml.
Pharmacodynamics. Healing aromatic oils of the drug help reduce the viscosity of sputum and its easy removal from the bronchi, have a stimulating effect on the respiratory system, reduce the production of mediators of inflammation. Pine oil is also famous for its antiseptic effect.
If the balm is used to rub the body in the area of the passage of the bronchi, its penetration into the body is carried out in two ways: through the skin and directly by inhaling the etheric components when they evaporate from the surface of the body. But the ointment can also be used for inhalation, which will ensure the deep penetration of medical components deep into the respiratory system and the excretion of viscous mucus accumulated in its lower parts.
Method of administration and dose. The drug is used for various colds, including bronchitis with a difficult cough, in patients of different ages. Rubbing the back and chest should be done 4 times a day, and inhalation - up to 3 times a day.
External application is possible even in the smallest patients, but regarding the treatment of babies under 1 year old and safe doses of the medication you need to consult a pediatrician. Children from one to six years on one rubbing spend a strip of cream about 3 cm, children older than 12 years of cream can take 1 cm more. Since the age of 12, the dosage remains stable - about 6 cm.
Steam inhalations with balsam can be given to children over 6 years old. The amount of cream used for a certain age of the patient is the same as for external application. The drug is added to the hot (about 80 degrees) water and breathe curative arames 5-10 minutes.
Contraindications. Doctors do not recommend using a medicine based on essential oils to patients with bronchial asthma and whooping cough, which can provoke an increase in symptoms and bronchospasm. Local application is undesirable for any injuries and skin diseases. External application and inhalation are not possible with hypersensitivity to at least one of the components of the drug.
When pregnancy doctors do not prohibit drug treatment, but when breastfeeding is not recommended rubbing with ointment of the chest near the mammary glands (it is better to use in the area of the upper back).
The possibilities of treating infants are discussed with the doctor. With difficult nasal breathing, the agent can be applied to the nose area. But this treatment is only possible for patients older than 2 years to avoid severe irritation of the skin and eyes. The older children should be careful not to get the ointment into the eyes, and if necessary, rinse them thoroughly with warm water.
The drug is not intended for oral administration.
Side effects. The most common symptoms are various allergic reactions and skin irritation at the site of injury. When carrying out inhalation procedures, irritation of the eye mucosa is possible, therefore for this time it is recommended to keep the eyes closed. In patients with concomitant diseases of the respiratory system, there is a risk of bronchospasm.
Storage conditions. The drug is not afraid of high temperatures, but it is not recommended to store it at 30 degrees or higher. Use ointment for medicinal purposes is allowed for 3 years from the date of release, after which the medicinal properties of the medicine are significantly reduced.
Eucabal
One of the effective drugs based on herbs from bronchitis. Active substances of sweet medicine are liquid extracts of two plants: plantain and thyme. Release the syrup in a 100 ml vial.
Pharmacodynamics. Essential oils used medicinal plants, irritating the bronchial glands, force them to work actively, which leads to an increase in the volume and liquefaction of a specific mucous secretion with its parallel movement up the bronchial tree. Extracts of plants also help to separate mucus from the walls of the bronchi. These effects are especially valuable in chronic bronchitis and the last stage of acute disease.
Plantain additionally protects bronchial mucosa from irritation, stopping unproductive urges to cough, and thyme fights with the bacterial component of sputum.

Contraindications. The drug is not taken with hypersensitivity to its individual components and the emergence of allergic reactions associated with intolerance plants of the family of labiate, celery, birch pollen. The drug is also not suitable for patients with intolerance to fructose and glucose metabolism disorders.
