Eucabal syrup is a herbal combination medicine that is used for colds accompanied by cough.
The drug Eucabal syrup is produced by the German pharmaceutical company Esparma GmbH. The drug is sold in pharmacies without a prescription.
Indications Eucabal syrup
Eukabal syrup can be used for the following pathologies:
- cough of various etiologies;
- inflammatory process in the respiratory organs (inflammation of the larynx, nasopharynx, trachea, bronchi and bronchioles);
- respiratory irritability syndrome caused by physical or chemical exposure;
- bronchitis as a result of smoking;

Release form
Eucabal syrup is produced in the form of a thick translucent liquid of a rich brown color. The liquid has a sweetish taste and a pleasant aroma.
The syrup is packaged in special dark glass bottles of 100 and 250 ml and packed in cardboard boxes.
Composition of 100 g Eucabal syrup: 3 g of plantain extract, 15 g of thyme extract, as well as additional substances.
Pharmacodynamics
Essential oils with a dominant content of phenolic groups have been found in thyme - these are thymol and liquid carvacrol. Cymene, terpineol, borneol, terpinene, pinene and other terpene substances are present in smaller quantities. Thymol has a bactericidal effect on coccal pathogenic flora and inhibits the development and growth of gram-negative microorganisms. In addition, a significant antifungal effect of the substance has been discovered.
Thanks to the galenic forms found in thyme, the motor activity of the ciliated epithelium of the upper respiratory tract is stimulated, mucous secretion increases, and expectoration is facilitated.
The drug promotes the reduction of inflammatory plaque, liquefaction and removal of secretions from the bronchi.
In case of dry inflammatory process, the drug produces an enveloping and antimicrobial effect.
The plantain extract has a wide biological activity. Thanks to it, the drug is able to enhance the active function of the ciliated epithelium of the respiratory organs, stimulate the secretion of mucus in the bronchi, resulting in liquefaction of sputum and easier removal. The drug has a healing and antimicrobial effect.
Pharmacokinetics
The pharmacokinetic properties of Eucabal syrup have not been scientifically tested, so there is no reliable information about the mechanism of absorption, metabolism and elimination of the drug.
Dosing and administration
Eukabal syrup is taken in the following doses:
- for children from six months to one year - one teaspoon daily;
- for children of preschool age - one teaspoon twice a day;
- for school children - one tablespoon twice a day;
- for adult patients – from one to two tablespoons up to 5 times a day.
Before using the syrup, do not dilute it. The course of treatment is determined by the doctor on an individual basis. A mild form of respiratory inflammatory pathology usually requires a two-week course of treatment. If no positive dynamics are observed within 14-20 days from the start of treatment, it is necessary to consult with your doctor.
