Cefutil is an antibacterial drug for systemic use. It is included in the subgroup of 2nd generation cephalosporins. It has an antibacterial effect.
Axetil cefuroxime is an oral form of cefuroxime (bactericidal cephalosporin); the component is resistant to most β-lactamases and shows an effect against a wide range of gram-negative and β-positive bacteria.[1]
The bactericidal effect of cefuroxime is associated with the suppression of the binding processes of the membrane of microbial cells. [2]
Indications Cefutil
It is used for such violations:
- diseases of the pharynx, ears and paranasal sinuses;
- pleurisy , tracheitis and bronchitis;
- urethritis with pyelonephritis and cystitis;

The medication passes well into all tissues, overcomes the BBB and the placenta. The half-life is 60-90 minutes. Protein synthesis - within 35-55%.
It is excreted through the kidneys within 24 hours. In the case of dialysis, cefuroxime values decrease.
Dosing and administration
The tablets are taken orally, after a meal (to improve absorption).
For the treatment of most infections that occur without complications (pyelonephritis and bronchitis), the medication is used at a dosage of 0.25 g 2 times a day. If the infection is severe, the daily portion is increased to 1 g, dividing it into 2 uses. With cystitis, the use of 125 mg 2 times a day is required. The duration of the cycle is within 5-7 days.
In the case of pneumonia, first (for 3 days) intramuscular injections are given, and then the patient is transferred to the oral form of drugs - 0.5 g 2 times a day.

With tick-borne borreliosis, a 2-fold intake of 0.5 g of the substance per day is required.
Persons with impaired renal function and the elderly can use the medicine in dosages of no more than 1 g per day.

The medication weakens the effect of oral contraception.
Use in combination with diuretics (ethacrynic acid or furosemide), colistin, amphotericin, aminoglycosides and polymyxin increases the likelihood of developing kidney failure.
Combination with aminoglycosides also leads to renal dysfunction.

Reviews
Cefutil is considered a good medicine - low toxicity, rare development of side signs, ease of use and a reasonable price are distinguished from its advantages. High medicinal efficacy and ease of use provide the drug with wide popularity among patients. But at the same time, he receives rather conflicting reviews. Probably, this can be associated with the severe nature of the pathology and the resistance of bacteria to this antibiotic.
