Vagicin-HEALTH.

The medicinal product Vagitsin-ZDOROVYE belongs to the antimicrobial and antibacterial drugs of the lincosamide group. It is actively used in gynecology.

Indications Vagicin-HEALTH.

Vagitsin is used as an external therapy in patients who suffer from bacterial vaginosis or vaginal dysbacteriosis, which are caused by bacteria sensitive to the drug.

Release form

The drug is produced in the form of a cream for intravaginal use, 20 g per tube, one tube per package with three polymer dispensers.

One gram of cream contains 20 mg of clindamycin phosphate and additional substances: methylparaben, cetostearyl alcohol, macrogol stearate, isopropyl myristate, polysorbate, propylene glycol, mineral oil.

Pharmacodynamics

Vagitsin is an antimicrobial agent for intravaginal use. The active substance is clindamycin, an effective drug of the lincosamide group. The antimicrobial effect of the drug is due to the disruption of intracellular production of bacterial proteins. Clindamycin inhibits the development of the microbial cell or destroys it: the effect directly depends on the dosage of the drug.

Clindamycin damages the cellular structure of many known strains of bacteria, including both gram-positive aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms.

Laboratory studies have proven the antimicrobial activity of the drug against mycoplasma bacteria, peptostreptococci, gardnerella, bacteroides, etc. Vagitsin does not act on candidal fungi and trichomonas.

Cross-resistance of bacteria to clindamycin and lincomycin was observed.

Pharmacokinetics

When using the drug Vagitsin externally, systemic absorption of the active substance is extremely insignificant.

Dosing and administration

Vagitsin is a medical preparation for intravaginal use. To use it as intended, use disposable dispensers, which are included in the kit.

Before using the medicinal substance, it is necessary to open the tube and fix the dispenser on the neck. After filling it with cream, it is necessary to release the dispenser from the tube. In a lying position (on your back) with bent knees, carefully insert the dispenser deep into the vagina. Slowly pressing the dispenser piston, bring it to the stop and pull the dispenser out.

Please note: The dispenser is intended for single use only.

After using the drug, the tube must be tightly closed with a lid. It is advisable to use Vagitsin at night.

The duration of treatment with the drug and the dosage are prescribed by the attending physician. The standard dosage is 5 grams of the substance per day.

Most often, the drug is used for about 3 days. At the discretion of the doctor, treatment can be extended to one week.

Vagitsin is not recommended for use during menstruation. During the entire course of treatment, it is necessary to abstain from sexual intercourse.

Use Vagicin-HEALTH. during pregnancy

The drug Vagitsin has strict contraindications regarding pregnancy, especially in the first trimester.

It is advisable to immediately check for pregnancy when prescribing the drug.

In the second or third trimester, Vagitsin can be used, but only in extreme cases, when the expected effect is greater than the likelihood of danger to the fetus.

The possibility of using the drug during the lactation period should be determined by a doctor: most specialists recommend stopping breastfeeding during treatment.

After completion of the treatment course, lactation is usually allowed to resume.

Contraindications

The drug Vagitsin has a number of contraindications for use:

• hypersensitivity of the body specifically to clindamycin, or to any other drug of the lincosamide group;
• I trimester of pregnancy, or the period of breastfeeding;
• children under 12 years of age.

Before prescribing the drug, it is necessary to conduct studies on the sensitivity of bacterial microflora to clindamycin.

While using the drug, caution should be exercised when driving a vehicle or operating complex moving machinery due to possible decreased reaction speed.

Side effects Vagicin-HEALTH.

When using the drug Vagitsin, patients may develop a number of side effects that are caused by the action of clindamycin:

• thrush, signs of vaginitis and vulvovaginitis, menstrual cycle disorders, vaginal discomfort, dysuria, development of endometriosis;
• bloody vaginal discharge, labor disorders;
• dyspeptic symptoms, bowel disorders, the appearance of an unpleasant odor from the oral cavity;
• bloating, stomach pain, heartburn;
• disorders of smell and taste, migraine;
• allergic dermatitis, erythematous rash;
• systemic infections, myalgia, thyroidism, nosebleeds.

If you experience any of these symptoms, stop taking the medication and consult a doctor.

Overdose

No cases of overdose have been observed with intravaginal use of the drug. If the cream accidentally gets into the digestive tract, it is necessary to wash the stomach and drink a suspension of activated carbon. Further treatment is symptomatic.

Interactions with other drugs

• Cross-resistance between clindamycin and lincomycin is observed.
• Clindamycin enhances the effectiveness of neuromuscular blocking agents.
• The creamy substance Vagitsin is not used simultaneously with any other intravaginal drugs.

Storage conditions

The medicine Vagitsin should be stored in a place protected from direct sunlight, at a temperature of up to 25°C, in an area inaccessible to children. The medicine should not be heated or frozen.

Shelf life

The shelf life of the medicine is about 2 years.
