Licorice quickly relieves inflammation and prevents the progression of the infectious process. When taking licorice, the cough changes from dry to wet. And this is already a positive sign, which indicates that positive dynamics are observed, recovery will soon occur. This is explained by the fact that sputum becomes liquid, dissolves and is removed from the alveoli. As a result, the bronchi are cleared, the inflammatory process is reduced.

There are many herbal remedies that combine effectively with each other and form a stable complex that is used to treat cough and eliminate its consequences. Let's consider some combinations that can form the basis of licorice root infusions.

  • Recipe #1. Licorice root and sweet clover

The main properties of licorice are enhanced when combined with sweet clover. To prepare the infusion, take licorice roots and the tops of the shoots of sweet clover in a ratio of 1:2 and mix them together. Then pour 2 tablespoons of the mixture with a glass of vodka and leave for at least 2 days. After the remedy has been infused, take 2-3 tablespoons. It should be taken at least three times a day. If the cough gets worse, take it with each coughing fit. It can be added to tea.

When preparing the infusion, it is necessary to take into account that sweet clover is a poisonous plant, so it should be taken with caution. It is necessary to strictly adhere to the recommended dosage and concentration when preparing the decoction. Licorice has an expectorant, anti-inflammatory effect, eliminates bacterial infection. As for sweet clover, it has long been used to treat colds and viral diseases, respiratory disorders. It fights the remnants of the inflammatory process, helps to liquefy sputum and remove it from the body. In combination, these substances complement each other, mutually enhance the medicinal properties. The infusion softens irritated mucous membrane, reduces the cough reflex, heals wounds and irritations, soothes. It is used for bronchitis, pneumonia. It is effective against both dry and wet cough, prevents the development of weakness, promotes recovery after severe infectious and inflammatory diseases.

  • Recipe #2. Licorice root and oregano

Licorice has an anti-inflammatory effect, reduces the infectious process. To prepare it, you need to make a mixture: take licorice root (pre-crushed), mix with ground oregano. In this case, mix in a ratio of 1:2, where 1 part is licorice root, 2 parts are oregano. Mix everything thoroughly, then take 2 tablespoons, then add a glass of vodka or alcohol, mix thoroughly, let it brew for 2-3 days.

Oregano has a powerful warming effect and also acts as an enzyme that enhances the action of other components, promotes accelerated absorption of substances into the blood, and the removal of toxins and metabolic by-products from the body.

It is known that licorice quickly relieves inflammation and also stops the development of bacterial infections. Oregano is used to treat colds, i.e. it is effective against viral infections. Accordingly, together these substances help prevent and eliminate all possible variants of the infectious process (both viral and bacterial infections).

Infusion of oregano and licorice very quickly removes the symptoms of intoxication. Accordingly, such accompanying factors of the intoxication process as headache, muscle weakness are also eliminated. Another advantage is that the infusion, when taken regularly for 14-21 days, significantly increases the body's protective reserves, stimulates the immune system, normalizes metabolic processes, and normalizes biochemical processes in the body.

This remedy is also unique because it reduces not only a common cough (wet or dry), but is also used for severe coughs of unknown origin, asthma attacks, asthmatic coughs, and respiratory spasms. Adding the infusion to tea can significantly alleviate the condition in such serious diseases as whooping cough, measles, and diphtheria. The mucous membrane is soothed, irritation is reduced, and redness disappears. A person becomes much calmer, because this infusion has a calming effect on the nervous system and eliminates fatigue.

  • Recipe #3. Licorice Root with Blackberries

This is an infusion that has found wide application in the practice of treating cough. So, to prepare it, you need to take a tablespoon of crushed licorice roots and 2 tablespoons of blackberries. Mix everything thoroughly and pour a glass of vodka or alcohol. Licorice relieves inflammation, blackberries saturate the body with vitamins, biologically active substances, and also stimulate the body's natural defense mechanisms, normalize the state of the immune system.

It is also necessary to take into account that in combination, licorice and blackberry mutually enhance each other's action. Thus, blue blackberry is used as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic. Licorice promotes the discharge of sputum. It is liquefied and excreted from the body. In this case, the inflammatory process may intensify and intoxication may develop. Here, the compensatory effect of blackberry is activated: it strengthens the body, eliminates the symptoms of intoxication.

It is recommended to take a mixture of licorice and blackberries for coughs that occur due to tonsillitis, bacterial and cold diseases, pneumonia, and bronchitis.

It can be taken as an infusion (a tablespoon three times a day), as part of tea - 1-2 tablespoons in tea, before bedtime. It is often used to gargle, rinse the nose with a cough of any origin. It is even used for adenoids, tonsillitis, inflammation of the oral mucosa. The advantage of this mixture is that it activates the body's natural defense mechanisms, stimulates the immune system, and reduces temperature. This is one of the few remedies that can be used even at high temperatures.

Licorice Cough Mixture

In the pharmacy you can buy a rather effective mixture that allows you to quickly eliminate a cough. You can take this tincture regardless of the nature of this cough. It can be a cough of bacterial etiology, viral nature. Against the background of bacteria and viruses, licorice root exhibits high activity, since it contains a large number of glycosides and phytoncides, which have an antiseptic and antiviral effect.

The mixture is taken according to the instructions. It is also necessary to take into account that licorice can be effective for coughs of allergic origin. It helps with dry, painful coughs, in which sputum does not come out. Licorice helps the sputum become less viscous and is quickly excreted from the body. At first glance, the condition may worsen, the cough may intensify and become wet. But in fact, this is the opposite, a positive effect. The appearance of a wet cough is a good prognostic factor. This is explained by the fact that sputum is actively excreted from the body with a wet cough.
