Tetralgin has antipyretic and analgesic effects. Contains active ingredients caffeine, metamizole sodium, caffeine and phenobarbital.

Metamizole Na is a pyrazolone derivative. Demonstrates antipyretic and analgesic activity. [1]

Caffeine is synthesized with purine endings inside the brain, and also has a stimulating and arousal effect on the function of the NA. [2]

Codeine demonstrates an antitussive effect, provided by the development of influence in relation to the cough center (weakening of excitability). [3]

Phenobarbital is an antispasmodic and muscle relaxant.

Indications Tetralgin

It is used to eliminate pain in such disorders: algodismenorrhea , arthralgia , myalgia, neuralgia , as well as headaches and toothaches.

It can be prescribed to eliminate signs of acute respiratory infections, colds and flu.

Release form

The release of the medication is sold in tablets - 10 pieces inside the contour pack; inside the box - 1 or 2 such packs. It can also be produced inside polymer cans - 20 tablets each.

Pharmacodynamics

Metamizole Na promotes the development of peripheral anesthesia - by disrupting the binding processes of COX-1 and COX-2. This leads to inhibition of PG production. The systemic effect develops when the neuronal activity of the sensitive dorsal roots of the spinal cord is inhibited. The active ingredient does not lead to the development of addiction, does not have a hypnotic effect and does not inhibit the function of the respiratory center. The development of withdrawal syndrome is also not observed.

Caffeine acts by suppressing the activity of the PDE enzyme and increasing intracellular cAMP. This leads to the potentiation of glycogenolysis inside the NS, as well as muscle tissues. Along with this, caffeine has a strong vasoconstrictor effect. The active element can also enhance the activity of metamizole Na.

Codeine belongs to the subgroup of opiates and has a powerful analgesic effect. It also has a weak antidiarrheal effect (weakening of intestinal peristalsis, relaxation of smooth muscle tissues and elimination of spasms in the sphincter area).

The analgesic effect develops when special opiate endings are excited in the region of peripheral tissues and different parts of the NS, as a result of which the antinociceptive system is stimulated - this changes the emotional perception of pain.

Phenobarbital has hypnotic and sedative properties. Along with this, it also demonstrates an anticonvulsive effect.

Dosing and administration

The medicine is used orally - 1-3 times a day, 1 tablet per use (the dosage is selected taking into account the intensity of the pain).

A maximum of 4 tablets are allowed per day. In this case, the treatment can last a maximum of 5 days.

  • Application for children

The medication is not used in pediatrics.

Use Tetralgin during pregnancy

It is prohibited to prescribe Tetralgin during pregnancy or HB.

Contraindications

The main contraindications:

  • leukopenia, anemia;
  • spasm of the bronchi, conditions in which there is suppression of breathing, an increase in ICP, a decrease in blood pressure;
  • strong personal intolerance to the drug;
  • arrhythmia, TBI, alcohol intoxication;
  • failure of the liver / kidneys.

Caution should be given to the elderly.

Side effects Tetralgin

Among the side signs:

  • tachycardia, dizziness and increased drowsiness;
  • leuko- or granulocytopenia, agranulocytosis;
  • nausea, constipation, vomiting;
  • epidermal itching or rashes; and urticaria.

With prolonged uncontrolled use of drugs, it is possible to reduce the analgesic effect and develop drug dependence, which is associated with codeine. In addition, liver / kidney failure may occur.

Overdose

Symptoms of poisoning include tachycardia, arrhythmia, respiratory depression, nausea, gastralgia and vomiting.

Procedures are performed to prevent the absorption of Tetralgin (gastric lavage and the use of enterosorbents). In addition, symptomatic actions are carried out.

Interactions with other drugs

Use with medications that suppress the activity of the NA can lead to suppression of the respiratory center and potentiation of the sedative effect.

The medicine potentiates the effect of ethyl alcohol in relation to psychomotor reactions.

Administration in combination with phenothiazine derivatives causes severe hyperthermia.

With the introduction of Tetralgin together with cyclosporine, a decrease in the latter is noted.

Due to the fact that sodium metamizole can displace the processes of protein synthesis in the described drugs (indirect anticoagulants, antidiabetic drugs taken orally, indomethacin and GCS), their therapeutic effect may be enhanced.

Oral contraception, allopurinol and tricyclics increase the toxic activity of metamizole Na, and also change its intrahepatic metabolic processes.

Inducers of intrahepatic microsome enzymes (phenylbutazone with barbiturates) can weaken the effect of metamizole Na.

Storage conditions

Tetralgin must be stored at temperatures not exceeding 25 ° C.

Shelf life

Tetralgin can be used within a 36-month term from the date of sale of the drug.

Analogs

Analogues of drugs are Tempanginol, Tempanal with Sedal-M, Tempimet and Pentalgin with Pyatirchatka.

Reviews

Tetralgin receives good reviews from patients - there is a good effect in eliminating pain, as well as good drug tolerance. The drug has a quick action and removes pain for a long time (toothache, after surgery or injury). Traumatologists, surgeons and therapists often prescribe it to relieve pain symptoms.

Of the minuses, it is noted that its prolonged use causes a weakening of the activity of the drug and a decrease in its effectiveness.
