The drug Tavamin refers to the pharmacological group of amino acid hepatoprotectors, which includes means for improving the functioning of the liver and protecting its parenchyma from various pathological effects.
Indications Tawamin
Indications for use of Tavamin are:
- all stages of hepatitis of any etiology (including toxic);
- cirrhosis of the liver;
- hepatic failure and hepatic encephalopathy;
- as well as liver pathology, which resulted from alcoholism and side effects of drug therapy of various diseases.
Release form
Form release: the drug is available in the form of gelatin capsules of 200 mg and 500 mg, the contents of the capsules - finely granulated powder.
Pharmacodynamics
Hepatoprotective effect Tavamin is based on the complex effect of its essential branched alpha-amino acids - valine, leucine, isoleucine, as well as 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid (taurine).
Valine provides the exchange of nitrogen in the body and is needed for normal muscle metabolism and regeneration of damaged tissues. Leucine, as an indispensable component of protein synthesis and energy source, provides restoration of all tissues of the body, and stimulates the synthesis of growth hormone (growth hormone) and slightly reduces the level of sugar in the blood. Ioleucine is also involved in the synthesis of proteins, the regeneration of damaged tissues, the production of hemoglobin and the regulation of blood sugar.
Taurine, regulating the intracellular exchange of ions of potassium, sodium and magnesium, has an antioxidant and regenerating effect, and also promotes the production of bile acids, which provide digestion of fats.
Thus, due to the combined effect of the components, Tavamin activates metabolic processes in the liver and contributes to the normalization of its work.
Pharmacokinetics
After ingestion, absorbed in the stomach, Tavamin enters the tissues of the body, mainly in skeletal muscle, fat tissue and liver. The highest concentration in the blood is observed in leucine, almost half of which is distributed in the internal organs. The time to reach the maximum concentration (Tmax) of the drug is 45-50 minutes, and the half-life is about 6 hours.
More than half of leucine undergoes complete transformation, and its metabolites are removed with exhaled carbon dioxide. The remaining amino acids are broken down to glucose and liver-synthesized ketone bodies, metabolites are excreted from the body with urine. Two thirds of taurine is excreted by the kidneys in unchanged form by the kidneys (with urine).
Dosing and administration
Method of application Tawamin - oral, after eating (capsules should be washed down with water). The standard dose is from 0.5 g to 1 g per day.
The recommended maximum duration of treatment is not more than three weeks. Repeated reception of Tavamin is possible after a two-week break.

Use Tawamin during pregnancy
Use of Tavamin during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended.
Contraindications
Among the officially declared contraindications to the use of Tavamin is the individual hypersensitivity to the substances that make up the drug. Nevertheless, it is known that preparations containing leucine and taurine are contraindicated to apply until the age of 18.
Side effects Tawamin
According to the instructions, with the use of Tavamin, there may be disturbances in the digestive system (dyspepsia), as well as allergic reactions in the form of urticaria and skin itching.
However, it should be borne in mind that the use of dietary supplements with valine, leucine and isoleucine may lead to an increase in valine levels, which is accompanied by side effects such as sensitivity disorders (paresthesia). A too high level of leucine in the body can cause hypoglycemia and an excess of ammonia.

Overdose
There is no information regarding drug overdose.
Interactions with other drugs
In the instructions to the drug it is noted that no interaction of Tavamin with other drugs has been detected. However, it should be borne in mind that the sulfur-containing amino acid taurine present in the composition of this agent is able to enhance the action of cardiac glycosides on the change in the force of the heart contractions.
In addition, taurine increases the effect of drugs that lower blood cholesterol levels, anticoagulant (blood clotting lowering) drugs, as well as drugs used to reduce high blood pressure and elevated blood sugar.
Storage conditions
The drug should be stored in a place protected from light and moisture, at a temperature of no higher than + 25 ° C.
Shelf life
Shelf life of the drug is 3 years.
