Simepar is a medication used to improve liver function in pathological liver damage. Drug efficacy is provided by the action of drugs in relation to the permeability of the liver cell walls.
In addition, the composition of the drug contains a vitamin complex (subgroup B), which, in addition to the main therapeutic effect, compensates for the developing deficiency of these vitamins when taking this medication. [1]
Indications Simepar
It is used as an adjunct therapy for hepatic lesions of an inflammatory and toxic nature: chronic hepatitis , which also includes steatohepatitis, and also fatty hepatic dystrophy .
It is prescribed to prevent the development of toxic hepatic lesions (arising from the effects of medications or alcohol).
Release form
The drug is released in the form of capsules - 10 pieces inside a contour package; in a pack - 4 such packages.
Pharmacodynamics
Vitamins from the B-subgroup, which are part of Simepar, are functional elements of intermediate metabolic processes. They act as coenzymes in the reactions of carbohydrate metabolism with proteins and demonstrate hepatoprotective activity. [2]
Vitamins increase the rate of recovery of damaged hepatic parenchyma. Together with this, the drug helps to restore the balance of B-vitamins, which develops in hepatopathologies - due to a significant weakening of the liver's ability to accumulate these vitamins. [3]
Pharmacokinetics
After ingestion, a significant part of silymarin is excreted in the bile and becomes an integral component of enterohepatic recirculation processes.
Silibinin is mostly excreted by the kidneys, but its metabolic elements (among them glucuronides with sulfates) in a synthesized form also appear inside the bile.
The process of excretion of silibinin lasts about 24 hours. Approximately 20-40% of the introduced portion of the substance is excreted in the bile. Only 3-7% of the accepted dosage is excreted by the kidneys.
Dosing and administration
The size of the standard dosage is taking 1 capsule of the drug 3 times a day, after eating. In the future, the portion can be reduced to 1-2 capsules per day.
The duration of therapy is selected by the doctor - personally for each patient.

The drug has not been used in pediatrics.
Use Simepar during pregnancy
When testing reproductive activity in animals, it was found that a negative effect on the fetus does not develop. But there is no information regarding the safety and therapeutic effect of Simepar in pregnant and lactating women.
Contraindications
A contraindication is severe intolerance to the elements of the medication.
Side effects Simepar
Occasionally and singularly, people with severe hypersensitivity have the following side symptoms:
- immune damage: signs of allergies in the form of rashes or itching;
- digestive disorders: nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea;
- others: exacerbation of existing vestibular disorders.

Interactions with other drugs
The combination of silymarin with oral contraception or substances used in estrogen replacement treatment may weaken the drug effect of the latter.
Pyridoxine hydrochloride has a stimulating effect on the peripheral metabolic processes of levodopa, due to which its medicinal effect is weakened. Persons who use levodopa should not use medications that contain more than 5 mg of pyridoxine.
Storage conditions
Simepar must be kept out of the reach of small children. Temperature values - no more than 25 ° С.
Shelf life
Simepar can be used within a 2-year term from the date of manufacture of the medicinal product.
