Simepar is a drug used to improve liver function in pathological liver damage. Medicinal effectiveness is provided by the effect of the drug on the permeability of the liver cell walls.
In addition, the drug contains a vitamin complex (subgroup B), which, in addition to the main therapeutic effect, provides compensation for the developing deficiency of these vitamins when taking the specified medication. [ 1 ]
Indications Simepar
It is used as an adjuvant therapy for liver lesions of an inflammatory and toxic nature: chronic hepatitis, including steatohepatitis, and also fatty liver dystrophy.
It is prescribed to prevent the development of toxic liver damage (arising from the effects of medications or alcohol).
Release form
The medicine is released in the form of capsules - 10 pieces inside a blister pack; there are 4 such packs in a pack.
Pharmacodynamics
Vitamins from the B-subgroup, which are part of Simepar, are functional elements of intermediate metabolic processes. They act as coenzymes in reactions of carbohydrate metabolism with proteins and demonstrate hepatoprotective activity. [ 2 ]
Vitamins increase the rate of restoration of damaged liver parenchyma. At the same time, the drug helps to restore the balance of B-vitamins that develops in hepatopathologies - due to a significant weakening of the liver's ability to accumulate these vitamins. [ 3 ]
Pharmacokinetics
After oral administration, a significant portion of silymarin is excreted in the bile and becomes an integral component of enterohepatic recirculation processes.
Silibinin is excreted mostly by the kidneys, but its metabolic elements (including glucuronides with sulfates) in a synthesized form also appear in bile.
The process of silibinin excretion lasts approximately 24 hours. Approximately 20-40% of the administered dose of the substance is excreted with bile. Only 3-7% of the dose taken is excreted by the kidneys.
Dosing and administration
The standard dosage is 1 capsule of the drug 3 times a day after meals. Later, the portion can be reduced to 1-2 capsules per day.
The duration of therapy is selected by the doctor – individually for each patient.
- Application for children
The drug has not been used in pediatrics.
Use Simepar during pregnancy
Animal reproductive testing has shown no adverse effects on the fetus. However, there is no information on the safety and therapeutic effect of Simepar in pregnant and lactating women.
Contraindications
Contraindication is severe intolerance to the components of the medication.
Side effects Simepar
Rarely and isolated in individuals with severe hypersensitivity, the following side effects are observed:
- immune damage: signs of allergy in the form of rashes or itching;
- digestive disorders: nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea;
- other: exacerbation of existing vestibular disorders.
If negative symptoms develop, it is necessary to consult a medical specialist.
Overdose
In case of accidental overdose, consult a doctor. Symptomatic measures are also performed.
Interactions with other drugs
Combining silymarin with oral contraception or substances used in estrogen replacement therapy may weaken the medicinal effect of the latter.
Pyridoxine hydrochloride has a stimulating effect on the peripheral metabolic processes of levodopa, which weakens its medicinal effect. People who use levodopa should not use medications that contain more than 5 mg of pyridoxine.
Storage conditions
Simepar should be stored in a place out of reach of small children. Temperature values - no more than 25°C.
Shelf life
Simepar can be used within a 2-year period from the date of manufacture of the medicinal product.
Analogues

Reviews
Simepar receives positive feedback from most patients. The drug is an effective hepatoprotector, has a beneficial effect on the liver. It should be taken into account that the selection of a drug from this drug group should be made only individually, under the supervision of a doctor.
