Warts appear suddenly and cause a lot of unpleasant moments if they are located in a visible place or in an area of constant trauma. They not only spoil the appearance, but are also dangerous due to the possibility of degeneration into a malignant neoplasm. It is best to resort to their timely removal in a specialist's office, which happens quickly and safely, even without using a scalpel. But often people try to get rid of them using various folk methods, considering the problem insignificant, not worth a visit to the surgeon. For lovers of home treatment for warts, medications are used, which include salicylic acid.
Release form
To remove warts, you can use the following types of products:
- salicylic plaster is the most convenient method of treatment. In addition to acid, it contains sulfur, which allows softening and rejecting keratinized particles. It is glued and held for two days, after which it is removed, and the warts are steamed again and treated with pumice. This is repeated until they disappear. As a rule, the effect occurs after several procedures;
- salicylic acid - the solution is applied at night and the lesions are covered with a plaster. To avoid damaging healthy skin, you can cut a hole for the wart from several layers of bandage or cotton pad, then the nearby surface will not be exposed to the acid. In the morning, the plaster should be removed, the skin should be washed with water, and dead particles should be removed with pumice;
- salicylic ointment - 60% ointment is applied in a thin layer to the wart and bandaged. It is best to do this before going to bed. When day comes, unbandage, wash the area, remove the layers that can be removed;
- salicylic-zinc paste - in addition to salicylic acid, the product contains zinc oxide, petroleum jelly and wheat starch. In order for warts to disappear, they need to be lubricated with the paste once or twice a day. It does not dry immediately, but then forms a film, which is a kind of bandage. Along with its rinsing, dead fragments of the growth are also removed;
- salicylic alcohol is a solution of salicylic acid on an alcohol basis. The substance has the property of destroying microorganisms, relieving inflammation, and exfoliating dead tissue. When removing warts, an ethanol concentration of 10-60% is suitable. If the growth is on the sole of the foot, then it must be steamed before application, in other places - you can immediately treat it with alcohol. In order not to burn the areas around the damaged areas, they must be lubricated with a greasy cream. Wet the wart generously with a cotton swab or ear stick, and do this 3 times a day. After some time, it will begin to turn black, dry out and fall off;
- salicylic ointment and dimexide for warts - for guaranteed removal using external means, it is recommended to process it step by step. The steamed neoplasm is soaked in a solution of dimexide with water in a ratio of 1:5, and a compress for 20-30 minutes is most effective. An hour after removing it, lubricate with salicylic ointment and apply a bandage or plaster. Dimexide penetrates deep inside and acts antimicrobially at the cellular level, the ointment softens and promotes exfoliation.

Pharmacodynamics
Salicylic acid and preparations based on it have a keratolytic, antiseptic effect. It softens and dissolves the keratinized layers of the skin, at the same time it destroys the foci of microorganisms that led to the appearance of neoplasms. At the same time, the drug does not destroy the human papilloma virus, but acts only locally.
Dosing and administration
This is an inexpensive and affordable method to remove warts, since the product is sold without a prescription in every pharmacy, but its effectiveness is not 100%. It will take some time to get the result. Salicylic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, its active substance is orthooxybenzoic acid. It is indicated for external use in various infectious and inflammatory skin diseases, dermatitis, acne, psoriasis, lichen, mycosis of the feet, etc. When applying the product to the wart, it softens, which allows you to remove the growth layer by layer. Its action as a local immunostimulant is also important, because warts are caused by the human papillomavirus, the activity of which depends on the protective properties of the body. The method of application of the drug is determined by its release form, but first the formation must be steamed in warm water and wiped dry.
Application for children
The described products are not recommended for use on children under 12 years of age, as they can damage healthy skin areas, and the patches can cause general intoxication of the body. They will be replaced by herbal preparations for warts, such as Panavir.
