Cystitis bothers women more often than men. This is due to the anatomical features of the female genitourinary organs. A third of patients experience a relapse and transition to a chronic form. Prevention of cystitis is designed to prevent such a process. This is one of the main goals of inflammation therapy.

Prevention of chronic cystitis

The problem should be prevented by proper treatment of cystitis, after which a full recovery occurs. And also by the patient's behavior, which does not provoke a relapse. There are three groups of methods for effective prevention of cystitis:

  • non-drug;
  • medicinal;
  • folk.

It is impossible to single out any method as the most effective, so doctors recommend complex use. Specialists draw attention to the need to correct the patient's behavior regarding their health, since a responsible attitude reduces the likelihood of relapse.

To prevent chronic cystitis, it is important not to delay urination, to avoid colds, to maintain personal hygiene, especially in the intimate area. Underwear should be loose and not squeeze the bladder. Particular attention should be paid to hygiene during menstruation.

Strengthening the immune system and preventing exacerbation of other chronic pathologies also protects against relapse of bladder inflammation. The diet is recommended not only during exacerbation, but also during remission of cystitis.

  • The advantage of drug prevention is that the effectiveness of drugs has been proven by research and practice.

The treatment plan should be drawn up by a doctor. As a rule, immunopreparations, probiotics, bacteriophages, and antimicrobial agents are used. Antibiotics, due to the risk of side effects, are used only when other drugs have not had an effect.

Herbal remedies act more gently and usually do not have negative consequences. Lingonberry, goldenrod eliminate harmful microorganisms and prevent relapse. Based on medicinal plants, pharmacists produce diuretic and anti-inflammatory drugs for long-term use. [ 1 ]

Prevention of cystitis in women

Cystitis is suspected in women when there is frequent painful urination in small doses, pain in the lower abdomen, cloudy or red urine. Body temperature may increase. How to avoid this trouble?

To prevent cystitis from bothering a woman, she should be especially attentive to her health.

  • Personal hygiene is a key point in the prevention of cystitis in women.

Starting with clean underwear that does not compress the genitals and bladder, to regular water and disinfection procedures in the intimate area.

During the cold season, underwear should not only be comfortable and always clean, but also warm enough.

  • Prevention of cystitis includes prevention of hypothermia.

It is this that causes inflammation and infection in the bladder cavity. Women are advised to avoid wet shoes, too short skirts and thigh-length trousers that do not cover the kidneys and genitourinary organs. Untreated inflammation in these organs causes secondary cystitis.

During menstruation, you should change your pads on time and wash yourself especially thoroughly, moving from front to back, and not vice versa.

Alcoholic drinks, spicy, salty, and savory foods can be a bad thing for cystitis. They must be excluded from the diet, replacing them with dietary food. [ 2 ]

Prevention of cystitis during pregnancy

Because of the wide and short urethra, women suffer from cystitis many times more often than men. During pregnancy, 10% of expectant mothers face this problem, including those who have never heard of the need to prevent cystitis. If inflammation in pregnant women is not treated, premature birth may occur, accompanied by complications. Only timely medical care reduces the risks to a minimum.

  • To prevent cystitis during pregnancy, you should protect yourself from situations that cause pathology.

There are quite a few of them, let's list the main ones that are required from a woman.

  1. Don't sit in one place for more than an hour. If you have to work sedentary, take breaks more often.
  2. Drink plenty of fluids, especially cranberry drinks.
  3. Eliminate unhealthy foods, fried, sweet, salty foods.
  4. To prevent constipation, move more and eat foods with fiber.
  5. Eliminate all sources of infection: chronic pathologies, dental problems.
  6. Wear fresh underwear made from natural fabrics, comfortable tights and clothes.
  7. For hygiene purposes, use products that do not disturb the intimate microflora.
  8. Urinate regularly, emptying the bladder completely.
  9. How to use toilet paper correctly.
  10. Empty your bladder before having sex.

Prevention of cystitis in men

In men, cystitis is less common and usually occurs against the background of prostate pathologies. Treatment is carried out both for the bladder itself and for the adenoma or prostatitis that caused cystitis. The organs in men are closely interconnected and therefore complex treatment is necessary. If the problem is not identified in time and therapy is not started, this is fraught with serious consequences.

As a rule, the urologist prescribes antibacterial agents, auto-massage, and immunostimulants. An important point of prevention is avoiding hypothermia, and during treatment it is recommended to abstain from sex and alcohol consumption. [ 3 ]

  • If the doctor's recommendations are strictly followed, the treatment prognosis is favorable.

Recovery should be confirmed by repeated tests. The simple disappearance of characteristic symptoms of cystitis, caused by half measures or self-treatment, is not such a guarantee. On the contrary, there are real risks of transition to a chronic form.

  • Prevention of cystitis in children and adolescents consists of maintaining personal hygiene.

It is the neglect of the cleanliness of the intimate area that causes cystitis at this age. Hygienic culture should be cultivated from early childhood, and this is a factor in preventing cystitis in adult men.

Prevention of cystitis in children

Why cystitis prevention in children is relevant becomes clear after reviewing some statistics. It turns out that genitourinary infections are the third most common in children and adolescents - after upper respiratory tract and digestive diseases. And bladder inflammation in the smallest children is the leader in its "group" in frequency!

  • At an older age, the indicators are less frightening, but diseases still occur. 99% of young patients are exposed to bacterial infections.

To protect your child from troubles, you need to know about cystitis prevention measures. If your child has had a single episode, you should pay special attention to hygiene, explain to him in a language accessible to his age how to wash himself properly. This is especially important for girls, who should only wash themselves from front to back and wear cotton underwear. Wash children regularly, teaching them to do it correctly on their own over time.

  • A banal yeast infection can also provoke inflammation. If you notice its symptoms, start treating them until they disappear.

Another task for parents is to ensure that their children's feet are not cold, and that they wear trousers and outerwear that covers their lower back. Being on a cold surface, such as on ground that has not been warmed by the sun, can also provoke cystitis. [ 4 ]

If cystitis has become chronic, then specialist intervention is necessary. Proper prevention includes regulation of the gastrointestinal tract. A varied diet, which includes vegetables, cereals, bread, fruits, and diuretic drinks, serves as an effective prevention of cystitis and strengthening of the body. Active sports, walks, and regular hygienic gymnastics contribute to this.

Prevention of postcoital cystitis

The postcoital variant of cystitis is characterized by the fact that acute attacks occur every time after sexual intercourse. That is, it is caused by intimacy. They even talk about the honeymoon syndrome, when the symptoms of cystitis appear from the beginning of regular intimate relations, greatly darkening them, and sometimes the relationship as a whole.

  • The main reason is the exchange of microflora between partners, and a common pathogen is E. coli. [ 5 ]

Non-specific prevention of postcoital cystitis consists of the following:

  1. Careful observance of hygiene before and after sexual intercourse.
  2. Mandatory emptying before coitus.
  3. Use of non-irritating contraceptives.
  4. Avoiding hypothermia.
  5. Replacing tampons with pads.
  6. Drinking up to 2 liters of liquid over the next 24 hours.
  7. Avoid douching, spermicides, panty liners and synthetic underwear.
  • Specific prevention of cystitis is carried out on an individual basis.

Uroantiseptics with cranberry extract, [ 6 ] immunostimulants are used. Antibiotics have limited use due to the high risk of side effects and dysbacteriosis.

If anatomical defects are detected, surgical correction is performed, which is highly effective. No preventive measures are offered in this case. Usually, hymenourethral adhesions are dissected or the urethra is transposed. If a woman refuses surgery, antibiotics are used. [ 7 ]

Treatment of genitals for the prevention of cystitis

Somehow it is not customary to talk out loud about the delicate issues of preventing cystitis caused by intimate relationships. Previously, there was nowhere to read about it. Surely, that is why many women, and they are the ones who suffer from cystitis more often than anyone else, did not even suspect that the problem can be prevented with their own hands.

  • Proper treatment of the genitals to prevent cystitis prevents many problems, including inflammatory processes in various organs.

This happens because the absolute leader among the causes of cystitis belongs to E. coli. According to various data - from 75 to 95% of cases. The reason for this phenomenon is recognized as the fact that the female urethra is wide and short, located near the vagina and anus, where natural sources of infection are located.

  • Ignoring intimate hygiene leads to the fact that the common pathogen enters the bladder, where it actively multiplies and affects the walls with an inflammatory process.

The woman begins to feel a nagging pain in the lower abdomen, the desire to visit the toilet becomes constant, and urination is painful and does not provide relief. The urine becomes cloudy, darker, has an unpleasant smell, and sometimes blood is visible in it.

To avoid cystitis, women should take preventive measures:

  • Wash more often, change your underwear.
  • During your period, change tampons or pads every time you go to the toilet.
  • Carefully observe hygiene measures when having sex. A shower is a must.
  • Wash away dirt and harmful microflora with products that do not disturb the natural microflora of female organs. During cystitis, intimate relations should be avoided.

Go to the toilet immediately after sexual intercourse to flush dangerous bacteria with urine. Drinking plenty of fluids promotes active urine formation and the removal of bacteria. It is extremely important to treat gynecological infections immediately so that pathogens do not have time to penetrate the urethra.

Poor quality underwear irritates the skin and disrupts local blood circulation, which can also cause the proliferation of microbes. By buying hygiene products, a woman prevents the problem.

Medicines for the prevention of cystitis

The development of chronic cystitis and complications, up to and including bladder sclerosis, occurs in a third of patients who encounter this problem for the first time. It is clear why medications for the prevention of cystitis are very important: it is better (and cheaper!) to prevent any disease once than to repeatedly get rid of it in various ways.

Conventionally, there are three groups of actions for the prevention of cystitis: behavioral, medicinal, and folk.

  • Objectively, the advantages of the medicinal option are that official drugs have been studied and tested clinically, and methods and dosages for their use have been created.

Preventive use of pharmaceuticals is usually intended for a long time. Their choice is made by a specialist, taking into account the specific situation. Together with such factors as behavioral changes and the use of traditional medicine recommendations, a person can live peacefully, without fear of cystitis relapses.

  • Drug prophylaxis is carried out by several groups: antibiotics, immuno- and phytopreparations, bacteriophages, probiotics, intravesical instillations. [ 8 ]

However, no one guarantees that prevention will work “100%. Low doses of antibiotics are effective, but no one will prescribe them constantly, because it is dangerous. Herbal preparations are less dangerous, but there is no reliable and confirmed information about their effectiveness in this context. [ 9 ]

Tablets for the prevention of cystitis

Conventionally, tablets for the prevention of cystitis are divided into herbal and antibiotic. Both groups are prescribed to both men and women. The second group is used in case of an infectious nature of the disease and the occurrence of complications.

  • Effective antibiotics include monural, nolitsin, nevigramon, furadonin, furagin, nitroxoline, palin, and rulid.

The appropriateness of their use is determined by urine analysis, which will show the presence of the pathogen and the resistance of a specific strain to a specific antibiotic. After therapy, a repeat urine test is performed. This ensures the prevention of cystitis and relapse in the future.

  • Herbal remedies can help mainly in the early stages of the disease.

Later they are prescribed in combination with anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial drugs. Cyston, Urovax, Monurel, Kanefron, Fitolizin - these are herbal preparations that have proven their effectiveness.

Cystitis should be treated immediately upon detecting its first signs. As a rule, the doctor first suggests solving the problem with herbal preparations. If the inflammation is long-standing or progressing, antibiotics will be necessary. Successful treatment and prevention also depend on the patient's care for personal hygiene, diet and drinking regimen.

Furadonin

Treatment and prevention of cystitis with tablets has a number of advantages. They are quickly absorbed by the body and enter the blood and lymph, blocking the spread of pathogens and the growth of the inflammation site.

  • Furadonin is valuable for the prevention of cystitis because it acts on pathogenic microflora and is completely safe for healthy microflora.

When treated with this remedy, patients experience increased immunity and regeneration rates, which is important for the restoration of inflamed bladder tissue.

Furadonin is taken according to the instructions or according to the scheme suggested by the doctor. In particular, for prophylactic purposes, 100 mg of the drug is taken at night before the planned manipulations in the bladder area. It is important to do this correctly: during meals, without chewing, but with a glass or more of water. Water, not another drink.

  • For most types of pathology, furadonin is an ideal solution to the problem.

There is only one condition: the treatment must be completed. If the course is interrupted immediately after the disappearance of particularly bothersome symptoms, the remaining bacteria can cause a relapse. It is precisely because of the careless attitude to medical discipline that some patients consider this medicine insufficiently effective in the fight against cystitis. [ 10 ]

Canephron

For the prevention of cystitis and other urinary tract infections, the herbal medicine Kanefron is effectively used. This is a well-studied and successfully used medicine. It contains extracts of centaury, lovage, and rosemary, the combined action of which has a complex effect on the kidneys and urinary tract. [ 11 ]

  • The herbal preparation’s assets include many years of experience in urology, gentleness and effectiveness of action. [ 12 ]

Canephron is indicated for the treatment of chronic renal pathologies of non-infectious nature. The drug also enhances the effectiveness of antibiotics. [ 13 ]

Canephron for the prevention of cystitis is easily tolerated by patients and can be used for long courses, as well as in the therapy of children and pregnant women. For this purpose, it is produced in drops and dragees. During pregnancy, it has the following effect:

  • relieves symptoms;
  • normalizes urine parameters;
  • reduces the likelihood of relapse;
  • destroys pathogens that cause cystitis;
  • reduces swelling.

Doctors have not recorded any cases of negative impact of this medicine on the health of the expectant mother and fetus. However, every woman in position should understand that the best way to preserve the health of the child is to protect yourself from colds and other diseases that force you to take medicines, because even the safest of them can harm the fetus. [ 14 ]

Monural

The drug Monural belongs to the new generation of drugs. It acts powerfully and quickly, but only the first time. A 3-gram packet relieves the patient of many symptoms typical of cystitis.

  • With repeated use, the result is not so impressive: an addiction effect occurs.

The effectiveness for the treatment and prevention of cystitis is explained by the pharmacological properties of the drug: bactericidal, bacteriostatic, anti-adhesive. The substance is quickly absorbed, has a long half-life. High content is retained only in urine, with which 95% of the drug is excreted. The peak concentration occurs 3-4 hours after taking the drug, the bactericidal concentration is maintained for 3 days. At the same time, it is possible to avoid dysbacteriosis and the formation of resistant forms of the pathogen.

  • Monural for the prevention of cystitis also helps to prevent not only relapse, but also complications, the most common of which is pyelonephritis.

Kidney damage poses a direct threat to the patient's life. The risk of kidney infection exists in both acute and chronic forms of bladder inflammation. Advanced cystitis is much more difficult to treat than with timely detection and initiation of therapy. Monural does this super-fast - in just one day.

Cystone

The urethra in women is much wider than in men, and also shorter. Due to these structural features, the fair sex suffers from cystitis more often than the stronger sex: it is more convenient for bacteria and viruses to "travel" along a short wide path than along a long and lengthy one.

  • Therefore, it is advisable for every woman who cares about her health to know about the prevention of cystitis.

The first symptoms should already be a cause for concern: frequent urges and pain during defecation, discomfort in the lumbar region, back, pubis. The disease can be caused by various reasons: from banal hypothermia to personal uncleanliness, including moral, when a person is irresponsible about sexual relations. [ 15 ]

  • Cystone for the prevention of cystitis is prescribed by a doctor in combination with other medications.

This herbal remedy allows you to "save" on antibiotics, i.e. reduce their dose during an exacerbation. It promotes the dissolution of stones, protects against their re-formation, relieves pain and inflammation, and supports the regeneration of the walls. For preventive purposes, the drug is indicated before the onset of the respiratory viral infection season. Its use improves the prognosis for infections occurring in the genitourinary system. [ 16 ]

Along with medication, patients themselves should take preventive measures: dress in natural underwear, clothing appropriate to the season, weather and size, strengthen their health. And pay special attention to personal hygiene.

Furamag

The drug Furamag in capsules is used to treat infectious inflammations of the urinary organs, skin, severe burns, gynecological infections. It is also prescribed for the prevention of cystitis or other recurrent infections, as well as during urological operations, catheterization, cytoscopy.

  • When using Furamag to prevent cystitis, you should be prepared for changes in the color of your urine: it becomes brown or a deep yellow hue.

This is one of the side effects that can be avoided by drinking plenty of fluids. Sometimes it is necessary to take vitamins B and antihistamines. You can prevent undesirable effects from the digestive system if you take Furamag with food, drinking plenty of water. You should stop taking the drug if the side effects are pronounced or if a reaction occurs that is not indicated in the instructions. This is another reason not to self-medicate, and this recommendation applies not only to Furamag.

The prophylactic dosage for adults is one 50-mg capsule once a day. If, for some reason, the patient misses this dose, it cannot be “compensated” by a double dose the next day. It is enough to take the next capsule on time, without overloading the body with “shock doses” without special need.

Phytolysin

Fitolizin is created according to a unique recipe, from 9 useful herbs and 4 essential oils. It is produced by a Polish company specializing in herbal medicines. For the prevention of cystitis, the drug is presented in the form of a paste soluble in warm water. A quick effect is achieved by dissolving 1 teaspoon of the product in half a glass of sweet water. [ 17 ]

  • The manufacturer recommends adding honey or sugar to the solution, but many patients find the taste quite acceptable and even pleasant.

The greenish-brown mass, strongly smelling of herbs, with notes of essential oils, consists of the active components of the following herbs:

  • goldenrod;
  • horsetail;
  • couch grass;
  • knotweed;
  • parsley root;
  • lovage;
  • birch leaves;
  • fenugreek seeds;
  • onion peels.

Essential oils – pine, mint, sage, orange. The manufacturer achieves the required consistency thanks to agar-agar, starch, glycerin.

Phytolysin exhibits its medicinal properties not as a single drug, but in combination with other means of complex therapy. It acts gently and does not cause addiction. It enhances the effect of other drugs.

In addition to phytolysin,cranberries are effectively used to prevent cystitis. [ 18 ] If there are risks, antibiotic prophylaxis is carried out before any invasive urological intervention. In case of relapses of cystitis, forced urination is required after each sexual intercourse.

Furagin

The drug for the prevention of cystitis belongs to antibiotics that are effective against the most resistant strains of pathogenic bacteria.

  • Furagin acts even on those pathogens that have acquired resistance to antibiotics and sulfonamides. It is effective only in cases of inflammation of an infectious nature. [ 19 ]

Furagin for the prevention and treatment of cystitis is used in combination with cystitis and pyelonephritis, urethritis, pelvic infections, as well as in preparation for operations - urological and gynecological. To increase the effectiveness of treatment, the patient must follow a protein diet and not drink alcohol. Alcohol causes nausea, tachycardia, dizziness, heart pain. Convulsions may even occur.

  • It is known that it is easier to provide prevention than to treat cystitis and all other diseases. Doctors often talk about this, but we do not always listen to their advice.

And they are quite simple and accessible. A healthy lifestyle, proper nutrition, barrier methods of contraception, timely treatment of urogenital infections practically guarantee the prevention of cystitis. General health improvement and strengthening of the body's defenses complete the prevention. [ 20 ]

Nitroxoline

One of the most affordable drugs is nitroxoline for the prevention of cystitis, as well as the treatment of pyelonephritis, urethritis, prostatitis. These are broad-spectrum antimicrobial and antiprotozoal tablets for the elimination of infections, primarily of the genitourinary tract. It is used to treat adult patients and children suffering from various diseases, and not only for the prevention of cystitis and various complications. Nitroxoline, with the help of an enzyme complex, prevents the proliferation of pathogenic microorganisms. At the same time, healthy tissues are not affected. [ 21 ]

  • Due to the bright yellow and orange coating, urine and feces become saffron-colored when taking the tablets. The tongue may be stained.

The standard course is 2-3 weeks: if the problem is not eliminated, a two-week break is taken, then the intake of nitroxoline is resumed. For the prevention of infections, the recommended dose is 100 ml 4 times a day. [ 22 ]

A high concentration of the active substance is observed in urine, at most within the first two hours after consumption.

  • For the sake of objectivity, it should be noted that the drug is quite popular, but has not been sufficiently studied.

They write about the probability of accumulation and toxic effects in premature infants, children and older patients. At risk are pregnant and lactating women, people with diseases of the nervous system. They also note the abundance of contraindications and side effects. Perhaps this is why nitroxoline is banned in many countries. [ 23 ]

Urolesan

The instructions for using Urolesan for the prevention of cystitis say that in case of a recurrent disease it can be taken for a long time, up to six months. The drug is used in the treatment of inflammatory diseases caused by infection; Urolesan is also suitable for the prevention of cystitis and kidney stones. It relieves smooth muscle spasm, prevents congestion and the likelihood of infection of the urinary tract, promotes diuresis, and gently soothes.

  • The drug affects the bile ducts in the same way: it activates bile formation and creates an acidic environment that is destructive to microorganisms.

Urolesan is available in alcohol drops, syrup and capsules containing herbal powder. The composition of the drug is as follows: oils - peppermint, castor, fir; alcohol extracts - oregano, motherwort, wild carrot seeds, hop cones. The dosage and course of treatment are determined by the doctor, depending on age, weight, diagnosis, stage of the disease, the presence of other health problems.

In case of cystitis, Urolesan is prescribed along with antispasmodics and antibacterial agents. The peculiarity is that the drug is indicated both in the acute period and for the prevention of the threat of relapse during the chronic course of the process. In case of frequently recurring exacerbations, Urolesan is used for quite a long time, up to 6 months. [ 24 ]

Suppositories for the prevention of cystitis

Medicinal suppositories for the prevention of cystitis are prescribed to women of "transitional age", when the concentration of estrogens in the body decreases. Intimate passages become dry, microcracks form in them, through which infections easily penetrate inside.

Due to such features, local preparations with estrogens are used to prevent cystitis in mature women, for example, hormonal suppositories Estriol. Hormones restore the mucous membrane, normalize the microflora, and this helps prevent relapse of inflammation. [ 25 ]

Suppositories for cystitis can be vaginal or rectal. The latter type can be used not only by adult women with sexual experience, but also by girls and men. Ideally, each medication, including preventive medication, should be prescribed by a qualified physician. However, some recommendations when choosing suppositories will be useful in any case.

  • Diclofenac has a strong effect on the body, so similar drugs should not be used without consulting a doctor.
  • Pain-relieving suppositories only mask the problem, but do not solve it.
  • For cystitis caused by hypothermia, anti-inflammatory drugs are used, for the infectious variant - antiviral drugs, and for the bacterial variant - suppositories with antibiotics.

Treatment of the chronic form, between relapses, is best performed by suppositories with natural ingredients; their strength lies in the effective healing of the mucous surface and strengthening of local immunity.

Folk remedies for the prevention of cystitis

Proper treatment and prevention of cystitis successfully counteract relapses and associated discomfort. Much depends on the patient personally: behavior, nutrition, lifestyle, attitude to their health.

  • Folk remedies for the prevention of cystitis include not only teas, decoctions, and fruit drinks, but also giving up unhealthy foods, drinks, and habits.

A disregard for clothing and hygiene, abuse of spicy foods, alcoholic and invigorating drinks do a disservice primarily to the kidneys and the entire excretory system.

  • The waste products formed after digestion of food pass through the kidneys. If they irritate the bladder, this contributes to the development of the inflammatory process.

This list includes overly spicy, hot, salty dishes. The diet should not contain much protein, which overloads the kidneys and retains fluid. Light food helps prevent cystitis: soups, vegetables, citrus fruits, berries, melons, known for their diuretic properties.

  • An important component of the diet is clean water.

It reduces the concentration of urine, which irritates the inflamed bladder walls, washes away pathogenic microflora, and this speeds up recovery. The best drink is the famous cranberry juice, fresh juices, compotes, weak teas without sugar are suitable. At the same time, strong tea, coffee, alcoholic drinks only aggravate the problem.

  • During an exacerbation, a person should stay warm, with a heating pad on the lower abdomen.

Wear warm natural underwear, wash yourself after each visit to the toilet. This prevents the spread of inflammation to the genitals. It is advisable to use urological pads: they protect against urine leakage and skin irritation. [ 26 ]

Prevention of cystitis with herbs

Patients with chronic inflammation should pay attention not only to treatment, but also to prevention of cystitis. Otherwise, instead of enjoying life, a person suffers from its low quality and constant discomfort. There are special urological collections, that is, herbal mixtures that are effective for both treatment and prevention of cystitis with herbs. Herbal raw materials can be collected and selected independently, taking into account their effect. Thus, medicinal herbs should have the following properties:

  • enveloping;
  • anti-inflammatory;
  • diuretic;
  • antiseptic.

This effect is possessed not by some selected ones, but by whole groups of plants, therefore there are many variants of collections. In case of hemorrhagic cystitis, when blood cells appear in urine, hemostatic and healing herbs are included in the mixture.

  • The mixtures include 5-7 herbs, equal amounts of each, pre-chopped for better infusion.

Usually take 1 tablespoon of each type of raw material, prepare decoctions or infusions for internal use. In addition, local baths are used for pain relief and anti-inflammatory action.

  • To prepare a decoction, pour the herb or mixture into boiling water, cook for 15 minutes and cool. The useful mixture consists of birch, nettle, yarrow, chamomile, licorice, lingonberry (or bearberry).
  • Infusions are prepared longer, without boiling.

The best container for this process is a thermos, where the raw material is placed and filled with boiling water. The infusion against cystitis is prepared from bearberry, plantain leaves and seeds. It is convenient to make a portion in the evening for the next day.

  • Juniper, yarrow, aspen bark, and a strong component, celandine, which cannot be taken internally, are suitable for baths.

A sitz bath is prepared from the decoction in a container large enough to cover the bladder area with water.

The preventive effect against cystitis is enhanced by adding echinacea, fireweed, lemongrass, hawthorn, and eleutherococcus to the composition of the collection. These plants have immunomodulatory properties and a preventive effect.

Teas for the prevention of cystitis

Drinking regime is very important in pathologies of the excretory organs. High-quality water and light teas for the prevention of cystitis are part of the therapy and prevention of repeated exacerbations. Self-medication is not welcomed, treatment should be prescribed by a doctor. However, herbal drinks are a good way to prevent inflammation in general, that is, to prevent cystitis as such.

Pharmacists offer ready-made kidney drinks. You can also buy individual ingredients in bulk to mix them yourself. Useful herbs in this case are calamus, barberry, marshmallow, St. John's wort, oregano, parsley, blueberry, horsetail, thyme, dill, etc.

  • Bearberry can be brewed separately, and such tea will be highly effective in treating problems with the bladder, kidneys, other organs of this system and digestion. [ 27 ]

Those who like to do their own herbal work should know the rules for preparing and storing the healing potion: wash it and chop it finely before drying. Tea for cystitis is prepared from several components or based on one potent plant. A drink that is not too concentrated is useful, approximately in a ratio of 1:10. The standard time for brewing tea is half an hour, in some cases - up to an hour.

A popular ready-made nephro tea made from several components is drunk before meals, chilled. The effect is provided by the correct dosage and regimen. In particular, it should be drunk daily at the same hours throughout the course.

All diseases are unpleasant, and cystitis is even more insidious, because it tends to recur frequently. Prevention of cystitis is entirely in the hands of the person. Hygiene, appropriate clothing, compliance with the thermal regime, physical activity and rejection of bad habits are actions available to everyone. In difficult cases, folk and pharmaceutical remedies recommended by doctors come to the rescue.
