Cystitis is an inflammatory reaction affecting the tissue of the bladder. Inflammation occurs against the background of some infection: more often - bacterial, less often - fungal or viral. Treatment of such a disease is not always successful: relapses are often noted, and even complications develop. However, many patients have already found a solution to the problem by taking Phytolysin for cystitis. This is a herbal medicine, relatively new on the domestic pharmaceutical market. When and how should this remedy be taken to achieve the most positive result?

Treatment of cystitis with Phytolysin

Does phytolysin help with cystitis? First of all, you need to understand that self-prescribing medications to get rid of cystitis is a dangerous undertaking. At home, it will not be possible to find out the initial cause of the disease, determine the form of pathology and identify the pathogen. Cystitis can act as a separate uncomplicated pathology, but often becomes a consequence or background problem with problems in the female genital area, with pyelonephritis, sexually transmitted infections.

An important condition for successful treatment of cystitis is a comprehensive approach to therapy. It is necessary to combine the intake of drugs that counteract infection with antispasmodics, symptomatic and restorative agents. Plant Phytolysin is suitable as such a restorative agent.

Phytolysin is essentially a plant diuretic, the action of which is based on the properties of its components. The drug helps relieve inflammation and eliminate smooth muscle spasm.

The components of Phytolysin stimulate the dissolution of mineral compounds in the bladder cavity, preventing stone formation. And due to the fact that Phytolysin is a multicomponent drug, its effect is extensive and multifaceted. That is why the effect of the drug can be noticed almost the next day from the start of treatment.

Indications phytolysin

Phytolysin is used not only to eliminate the inflammatory process in the bladder, but also to treat other problems with the urinary tract:

  • acute and chronic inflammatory and infectious diseases of the urinary tract (inflammation of the urethra or prostate gland, pyelonephritis);
  • urolithiasis, if surgical intervention is contraindicated or not indicated.

In addition, Phytolysin can be used to prevent cystitis, namely to prevent relapses of the inflammatory process, or the formation of stones in the kidneys, bladder or ureters.

Phytolysin acts almost instantly at the first signs of cystitis: visible improvements are observed within the first day. Pain, discomfort and burning during urination disappear. Urges cease to be painful and frequent, general well-being is normalized.

Phytolysin can be used for cystitis with blood in the urine. One of the components of the product - horsetail - successfully eliminates bleeding, and other components - for example, knotweed and hernia - stop the development of the inflammatory process, which is also important when blood appears at the end of urination.

It is allowed to take Fitolizin for acute cystitis, for the chronic form of the disease. In the latter case, the remedy will help prevent the recurrence of the problem. However, the duration of the course of taking Fitolizin for chronic cystitis should be 1-1.5 months.

Phytolysin can also be effective for cervical cystitis (trigonitis). However, to eliminate this type of disease, it is necessary to use a comprehensive approach, where the drug will become only part of the overall treatment.

Fitolizin is appropriate for cystitis in women, men, and even children. Its use is safe, and the positive effect on the condition and functionality of the bladder is clinically proven.

Release form

The main form of Phytolysin is a paste: it has a dark greenish-brown color, thick consistency and a specific aroma. The drug is packaged in 100 g metal (aluminum) tubes.

The paste for cystitis Fitolizin is quite convenient to use, unlike herbal infusions and decoctions: the paste is easy to dose, and the packaging itself does not take up much space, so you can easily take it with you on vacation, to work or on a trip.

Cystitis tablets Fitolizin are a capsule form of the drug. They are produced in the form of soft capsules, packed in blister plates and cardboard packaging. One package contains 36 capsules. This dosage form is less common, and is most often presented under the trade name Fitolizin Nephrocapsules.

There are currently no other forms of the drug. Thus, there is no information about such medications as Phytolysin ointment for cystitis or Phytolysin gel for cystitis.

The production of the drug is established in Poland.

Pharmacodynamics

Phytolysin is a combined herbal remedy with a multifaceted effect. The effectiveness of the drug for cystitis is explained by the presence of medicinal herbs and oils in its composition. In general, Phytolysin has an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, diuretic, analgesic, and antispasmodic effect. In addition, the treatment helps remove the smallest stones from the urinary tract and prevents their further formation.

Phytolysin is represented by water extracts of the following plants:

  • onion (peel) – has an antibacterial effect;
  • wheatgrass rhizome – stabilizes metabolism, provides antibacterial action;
  • parsley seed – improves the tone of the bladder, has a diuretic effect;
  • bird's knotweed - relieves inflammation;
  • horsetail – increases daily diuresis, stops bleeding;
  • Birch leaves – prevent the appearance of edema and the formation of stones;
  • fenugreek seed – calms, normalizes hormonal levels;
  • goldenrod – activates immune defense;

Phytolysin for cystitis in children

The instructions for Fitolizin indicate that the drug has not been tested for use in pediatric practice. However, many doctors still include the drug in the treatment regimen for cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis in children. At the same time, Fitolizin is perfectly tolerated by the child's body at almost any age, and even during breastfeeding. The main thing is that the child does not suffer from allergies to plant components. No other health complications were observed in children taking Fitolizin.

As a rule, doctors use the capabilities of Phytolysin at the recovery stage of therapy, after completing the intake of antibacterial agents. The pediatric dosage is determined by the doctor individually. In general, the drug can be prescribed in an amount of ¼ to ½ teaspoon three times a day. The specified amount is diluted in a small amount of warm boiled water (if desired, you can add a little honey or sugar). The duration of the treatment course is determined by the doctor.

Use phytolysin during pregnancy

Phytolysin is used quite often to treat cystitis in pregnant women.

During pregnancy, a woman's body is especially at risk of ascending infection from the bladder to the kidneys. Cystitis is diagnosed in approximately 28% of expectant mothers. To prevent complications and to alleviate the condition of patients, it is very important to treat the disease promptly and efficiently.

The instructions do not contain any information about the use of Fitolizin for cystitis in pregnant and lactating women. However, in practice, the drug is still used, and even quite successfully. To date, not a single case of negative impact of such treatment on fetal development or on the course of pregnancy itself has been registered. Some doctors also recommend taking Fitolizin for preventive purposes.

However, despite the apparent safety of the medication, it cannot be used as a self-medication. First, you need to consult a doctor: he will consider all possible contraindications and determine the optimal dose.

Contraindications

Phytolysin is a safe herbal preparation, but it also has a number of contraindications that must be taken into account before starting treatment:

To protect yourself from allergies, the first dose of the drug should be done in small doses and extremely carefully, or even better - apply a small amount of the product to the bend of the elbow, observing the skin reaction for a couple of hours. In the absence of redness and itching, you can begin treatment with Phytolysin.

Other side effects are rare, but their occurrence cannot be completely ruled out:

  • nausea, upset stomach;
  • change in taste sensations;
  • increased sensitivity to ultraviolet radiation.

There have been no cases of Phytolysin overdose recorded to date. It is assumed that when taking excessive doses of the medication, an increase in side effects may be observed.

In case of overdose, it is recommended to carry out treatment according to the clinical symptoms that appear.

Interactions with other drugs

Phytolysin has a pronounced diuretic effect, so it can affect the rate of elimination and the effectiveness of some medications if they are taken simultaneously.

Phytolysin potentiates the therapeutic effect:

  • nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs;
  • drugs to lower blood sugar levels;
  • drugs to reduce blood clotting;
  • agents that inhibit monoamine oxidase (we are talking about Nialamide, Pyrazidole, Phenelzine, Iproniazid, Befol, etc.).

Phytolysin is able to prolong the effect of Paracetamol and Pentobarbital.

The absorption of vitamins and cholesterol in the presence of Phytolysin in the small intestine may be somewhat impaired.

Phytolysin analogues for cystitis

To get rid of cystitis, herbal remedies are often added to the general therapy. In case of uncomplicated disease of non-infectious origin, in the absence of background inflammatory processes, the use of such herbal preparations can really be successful. However, most patients still have to prescribe other medications with antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory action along with Phytolysin.

If there are problems with purchasing Fitolizin, then, with the doctor’s permission, it can be replaced with other herbal preparations with similar effects.

  • Cystone is a herbal diuretic and nephrolytic that has bactericidal properties and enhances the effectiveness of antibiotic therapy.
  • Canephron is a product that combines extracts of rose hips, lovage, centaury and rosemary. Canephron quickly relieves pain and spasms, has an antibacterial effect.
  • Lingonberry leaves are sold as dry raw materials, packaged in filter bags. The infusion of the preparation has an antiseptic and antimicrobial effect, especially in relation to Staphylococcus aureus.
  • Urolesan is a herbal remedy in the form of drops, capsules, and syrup. The basic components are fir, mint, wild carrot seeds, hop cones, oregano, etc. However, despite its bactericidal and diuretic action, Urolesan is more often prescribed not for cystitis, but for urolithiasis, pyelonephritis, and cholecystitis. Additional information can be obtained from your doctor.

Many patients classify such a medicine as monural as a herbal remedy for cystitis. Indeed, monural is used to treat acute bacterial cystitis, but it belongs to the category of broad-spectrum antibiotics. Its action is due to the properties of fosfomycin, the active ingredient. But a herbal remedy is a drug with a similar name - monurel. The effectiveness of monurel for cystitis is due to the cranberry extract included in the drug. Monurel is available in tablets and is suitable for long-term use. It is recommended both for the treatment of cystitis and for preventing relapses of the disease.

Reviews

Most patients speak well of the treatment of cystitis with Phytolysin. Rare complaints about the drug are mainly related to the specific smell and taste, which not everyone likes. However, the fact that Phytolysin is effective for cystitis does not cause the slightest doubt in anyone. The main thing is to remember that even after the completion of treatment, the condition of the urogenital system cannot be let out of control in order to avoid the development of a repeated inflammatory process. It is highly advisable to additionally consult with your gynecologist and gastroenterologist, because it is often problems in these areas that provoke the development of cystitis.
