The main effect of honey is that it stimulates the secretion of mucus and saliva, due to which the throat softens, the degree of irritation of the mucous membrane decreases. Also, the synthesis of substances that suppress the activity of the cough center increases significantly. As a result, the cough decreases.
Glycerin softens mucous membranes. It has the appearance of a transparent liquid, slightly viscous consistency. It covers the throat, forming a protective film on it, which prevents the spread of the infectious process, localizes the source of inflammation.
Since ancient times, glycerin infusion with honey has been used to treat throat diseases, eliminate cough and runny nose. To prepare, take about 50 grams of honey and 5 grams of glycerin. Melt the honey in a water bath, add glycerin, slowly stirring the mixture. You can take 1 teaspoon three times a day, and additionally when a cough appears. It can also be used to lubricate the throat. Some use this remedy to gargle and rinse the nose. You can add it to tea or hot milk.

To prepare the cough tincture, you will need one large lemon, 50 grams of honey, 400 ml of vodka or alcohol, 30 ml of glycerin. First, heat the lemon in a water bath for 4-5 minutes. The lemon should become soft. After that, pass it through a meat grinder, add honey and glycerin, mix thoroughly. Add alcohol or vodka. Can be consumed as a puree, without adding vodka. The puree should be eaten within 24 hours, while the tincture can be stored for a long time - from six months.
The following remedy is used (calculated for a day). Cut the lemon into 2 halves. Remove the core. Squeeze the juice from the core and grind it to a puree. Add honey to the juice and mix thoroughly. Add honey, glycerin, a pinch of ground ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon to the puree. Mix thoroughly and place in the peel. In the morning, eat one half of the lemon with the puree and peel, wash it down with a tablespoon of lemon juice. Drink the juice in small sips throughout the day. In the evening, eat the second half of the lemon, then wash it down with the rest of the lemon juice and go to bed. Repeat the procedure in the morning.
For a strong, paroxysmal cough, cut a lemon into small pieces and place it on a saucer. Pour 2-3 tablespoons of glycerin into a small bowl nearby. When a new cough attack occurs, take a slice of lemon, dip it in glycerin and eat it. After 10-15 minutes, eat a spoonful of honey.
You can take cough syrup. To prepare it, take a large lemon. Pass it through a meat grinder together with the bones and zest. Then add honey and glycerin, beat with a mixer until smooth. Take 1 tablespoon 3-4 times a day.
An equally well-known recipe is glycerin oil for cough. To prepare it, take 100 grams of oil, melt it over low heat, add about 50 grams of honey, stirring slowly. You need to bring it to a homogeneous mixture. Then add 2-3 tablespoons of glycerin, mix thoroughly. If necessary, you can add 0.5 teaspoons of ground cinnamon or ginger. Place the product in the refrigerator to harden. You can use one teaspoon three times a day. You can also add it to tea or hot milk.
You can make a healing paste. Take a lemon and mince it. Place the product in a deep bowl. Add 2 tablespoons of glycerin, stir, and fill the bowl with honey so that the entire contents are completely covered with honey by 2-3 fingers. Take one tablespoon at a time, mixing the mixture thoroughly.
