There are more than fifty species of protozoan microorganisms in the world that can cause diseases in humans. The scale of such infections is quite wide: at least every tenth person is a carrier of a protozoan infection.

One of the drugs that suppresses the vital activity of protozoa is Dazoliq.

Indications Dazolik

The action of the drug Dazoliq is effective against amoebae, trichomonads, obligate anaerobic bacteria, lamblia and individual gram-positive microbes. These microorganisms cause the following diseases, which are indications for the appointment of Dazoliq:

  • amebiasis – intestinal and extraintestinal manifestations of amebiasis, various forms of amebic dysentery, amebic disease with involvement of the liver (abscess formation);
  • Trichomoniasis is a common infection that is transmitted through the genitals of partners;
  • giardiasis;
  • manifestations of bacterial vaginosis;
  • anaerobic infections that have developed as a result of abdominal surgery on the abdominal organs, or for the purpose of preventing such.

Release form

Dazoliq is available in the form of round tablets, convex on both sides, smoothed at the edges. The tablet forms are protected by a light-colored shell and have a dividing line to reduce the dosage on one side. The composition of one tablet is 0.5 g of the active substance ornidazole.

The accompanying components of the drug are microcrystalline cellulose elements, starch particles, purified talc, silicon dioxide compounds, magnesium stearate, polyethyleneglycol, etc.

Pharmacodynamics

Dazoliq has an antimicrobial and antiprotozoal effect, has a toxic effect on microbial cells and interferes with the respiratory processes of bacterial cells.

The action of the drug is determined by the ability to restore the nitro group of the active substance molecule. This process occurs due to the activity of bacterial enzymes, resulting in the formation of complex compounds of the restored nitro group and bacterial DNA. As a result, the processes of self-restoration of cell DNA and RNA biosynthesis are disrupted.

Scientific research data allows us to speak with confidence about the bactericidal and bacteriostatic effectiveness of the drug.

Pharmacokinetics

Ornidazole is the active substance of the drug Dazoliq, it penetrates the digestive tract without loss when taken orally. Determination of the highest concentration in the blood serum indicates a 1-2 hour period. 15-20% of the substance binds serum proteins. The degree of bioavailability of the drug reaches 90%.

Dazoliq is found in all tissues of the body, easily penetrates the blood-brain and placental barriers. It is metabolized in the kidneys (65%) and liver (25-30%). The remainder of the drug is excreted from the body unchanged.

Dosing and administration

The method of taking the drug depends on the specific disease that needs to be treated:

  • Treatment of trichomonas infection. Prescribe 0.5 g twice a day for a week. For children, the dosage is calculated at 25 mg per kilogram of weight once a day.
  • treatment of amoebic infection. Adults are prescribed 3 tablets once a day for three days. For children, the dosage is calculated depending on weight - 40 mg per kilogram of weight. The doctor can change the dose and frequency of administration at his discretion.
  • treatment of giardiasis. Adults are prescribed 3 tablets twice a day, treatment continues for no more than 1-2 days.
  • preventive measures aimed at preventing anaerobic infection. Before surgery, use 1-2 tablets once, after surgery, take 1 tablet twice a day for 5 days.
  • treatment of bacterial vaginosis. Take 1 to 3 tablets once a day, depending on the doctor's instructions. Duration of therapy is one week.

The tablets are taken immediately after a meal, with a glass of liquid.
