Bronchipret is a medicinal product that contains extracts from two plants: thyme and ivy. These plants are widely used in traditional medicine to treat respiratory diseases.
- Thyme (Thymus vulgaris): Thyme extract has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and expectorant properties. It is often used to treat coughs, bronchitis and other respiratory problems.
- Ivy (Hedera helix): Ivy extract has mucolytic (mucus thinning) and expectorant (expectorant) properties. It helps reduce the viscosity of mucus and facilitate its removal from the respiratory tract.
Bronchipret is commonly used for the symptomatic treatment of respiratory diseases such as cough, bronchitis, difficulty breathing and others. It can be available in various forms, including syrups, drops and tablets.
Before using Bronchipret or any other medicine, it is important to consult your doctor or pharmacist for dosage and administration recommendations, especially if you have any underlying medical conditions or are taking any medications.
Indications Bronchipret
- Cough: Including dry and wet cough associated with respiratory infections, bronchitis, lingering cough and other respiratory diseases.
- Bronchitis: Inflammation of the bronchial tubes, causing coughing, difficulty breathing, mucus production, and other symptoms.
- Difficulty breathing: Including shortness of breath, heavy breathing, and other breathing problems associated with respiratory diseases.
- Mucus in the Throat and Lungs: To facilitate the removal of mucus from the airways and reduce the accumulation of secretions in the throat and lungs.

- Prevention and treatment of acute respiratory viral infections: Bronchipret can be used to strengthen the immune system and prevent respiratory infections
Release form
- Syrup: This is the most common form of Bronchipret. The syrup contains liquid extracts of thyme and ivy, which are intended for oral administration.
- Drops: Some manufacturers may produce Bronchipret in the form of drops, which are also taken orally, usually diluted in water.
Pharmacodynamics
Thyme (Thymus vulgaris):
- Mucolytic action: Thyme extract can help thin mucus and facilitate its expectoration due to the content of flavonoids and essential oils.
- Anti-inflammatory action: Thyme has anti-inflammatory properties due to its antiseptic and antibacterial properties.
Common ivy (Hedera helix):
- Bronchodilator action: Ivy extract has the ability to expand the bronchi and improve airway patency.
- Mucolytic action: Ivy helps to reduce the viscosity of sputum and facilitate its expectoration.
Pharmacokinetics
The pharmacokinetics of Bronchipret have not been widely studied or described.

Use Bronchipret during pregnancy
General recommendations:
- Traditionally, many herbal preparations have been considered to be used with caution during pregnancy due to limited data on their safety for the developing fetus. Bronchipret also lacks specific clinical data to support its absolute safety during pregnancy.
Thyme extract:
- Thyme is generally considered safe when consumed in normal culinary amounts, but using medicinal doses of thyme during pregnancy may not be recommended without consulting a doctor.
Ivy extract:
- Like thyme, ivy is commonly used medicinally to relieve coughs and as a mucolytic. However, there is no definitive data on its safety during pregnancy.
Medical advice:
- Before taking Bronchipret or any other herbal remedy during pregnancy, it is important to consult with your doctor. Your doctor will evaluate the potential risks and benefits and help you make an informed decision based on your health and medical history.
Contraindications

- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: The safety of using Bronchipret during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. Therefore, to avoid negative consequences, its use should be agreed with a doctor.
- Paediatric use: Bronchipret may be less safe for use in younger children, so it is recommended to consult a doctor before using it in children.
- Asthma: In some patients with bronchial asthma, the use of herbal preparations such as thyme and ivy may cause an exacerbation of symptoms, so they should be used with caution.
- Liver and kidney disease: If you have severe liver or kidney disease, you may need to adjust your dosage or stop taking the drug altogether.
- Weakened cough response: Using Bronchipret may inhibit the cough reflex, which may make it more difficult to cough up mucus and clear mucus from the airways.
Side effects Bronchipret

- Respiratory reactions: Although rare, some ingredients may cause bronchospasm or other breathing problems, especially in people with asthma or other chronic respiratory diseases.
Overdose
Since Bronchipret is a homeopathic medicine containing plant extracts in minimal doses, overdose is unlikely. However, if an overdose is taken or if any undesirable symptoms occur after using the medicine, it is recommended to seek medical help.
Interactions with other drugs
Because Bronchipret is a herbal remedy, information about its interactions with other drugs is generally limited and may not have been adequately studied.
