Iodine solution of 5% is available as a solution (water-alcohol).

Iodine solution of 5% contains elemental iodine, which has an irritating, antimicrobial effect with local use.

Iodine solution of 5% after application to the skin is absorbed into the bloodstream and is able to affect the metabolism, especially the thyroid gland. Excretion from the body occurs mainly in the kidneys, a small amount is excreted with sweat and secretions of the mammary glands. 

Dosing and administration

The drug is used externally. A cotton swab impregnated with the solution, it is necessary to treat the damaged skin area.

When atherosclerosis is prescribed, the intake of iodine solution inside - 5-10 drops twice a day, for 30 days (repeat treatment up to 3 times a year). 

Use Iodine solution 5% during pregnancy

Iodine solution of 5% of pregnant women can only be used externally. 

Contraindications

Medication is not used for intolerance to iodine, diabetic or trophic ulcers.

The medication can provoke allergic reactions (rash, Quincke's edema, etc.).

Overdose

Iodine solution of 5% in case of overdose can trigger an increase in adverse reactions (allergic manifestations, acne). It is also possible to burn in the place of application of the solution, local irritation.  

Interactions with other drugs

Iodine solution of 5% concomitantly with other topical preparations that contain organic compounds may provoke a disruption in the properties of the protein components. 

Storage conditions

The medicine should be stored in a place protected from moisture and sun, the storage temperature should not exceed 15 ° С. Keep away from children.

Shelf life

The medication is 36 months from the date of manufacture.
