Ultera is an antiulcer drug that is used for gastroesophageal reflux. Ultera is an inhibitor of the proton pump. It has the second name - pantoprazole (active medication).

Patients with severe hepatic impairment are used, since the level of hepatic enzymes can change their indications. Ulter's drug does not affect the functioning of the kidneys.

The drug Ultera is prescribed for peptic ulcer of the stomach, also with ulcer of the duodenum. Gastroesophageal reflux disease is also treated with Ulter's drug.

Release form

The form of release of Ulter, which is available on the market - is a tablet. The drug is coated with an enteric film that has a yellow or orange color. The pills are round in shape, biconvex. Each tablet has a cross section - the core (white or cream colored). In some cases, the presence of marble is permissible.

Available in the following forms - seven pieces in two blisters and in a cardboard bundle.

Also on ten pieces in strips and a cardboard bundle and on fourteen pieces in a strip.

Pharmacodynamics

Ulter's pharmacodynamics is carried out in the following way: the active substance suppresses the action of hydrochloric acid in the stomach in that it specifically affects the proton pump of parietal cells. Pantoprazole is transformed into an active form in an acidic medium, which is most concentrated in the parietal cells of the stomach - that is, it is converted to hydrochloric acid. Suppression depends on the dose and can affect the stimulated appearance of secretions of juice in the stomach (an effect in which secretions are not produced throughout the day). Pantoprazole reduces the level of acid in the stomach and removes gastrin from the body.

Pharmacokinetics

The substance of pantoprazole is absorbed without residue after administration. When analyzed in blood plasma - the level of the drug reaches one μg / ml. It takes two hours to reach this level. This level does not increase even after prolonged use of the drug.

Bioavailability of the drug as enteric tablets is 75 - 80%. Binding to plasma proteins reaches almost 100%.

Pharmacokinetics Ultera conducts major metabolites through the kidneys. About 80% of the urine is excreted. The remaining twenty are removed with a chair.

But it must be taken into account that parietal cells do not correlate with pantoprazole.
