Ultop

Ultop is a drug that inhibits secretion of the secretion of gastric juice. This drug does not affect the histamine receptors and does not have an active effect on the nervous system. The active substance in this medicine is omeprazole. Due to the fact that this bond is formed, the activity decreases, correspondingly, the increased isolation of gastric juice is inhibited.

Pharmacodynamics

Pharmacodynamics is a medicinal product belonging to a group that suppresses active release of gastric juice, but does not have anticholinergic effects. Omeprazole has an overwhelming effect on the activity of the proton pump. The drug reduces the amount of stimulated secretion. The effect of omeprazole depends on the number and frequency of the dose taken. The proton pump begins to decrease its activity within sixty minutes and the maximum therapeutic activity of omeprazole occurs in two hours. After a single dose, the action lasts for six days. In the case of repeated administration, the effect of the effect increases within the first four days, and afterwards a constant level of exposure occurs. After the end of the course, acid secretion comes back to normal within three days. Bioavailability of the drug, in the case of a single dose reaches forty percent and rises in the future.  

Pharmacokinetics

After the drug has been taken orally - there is a rapid absorption from the gastrointestinal tract into the blood plasma, the action of the pharmacokinetics of the Medication occurs within one hour. The drug is very active metabolism in the liver. The drug is excreted through the urine - seventy five percent, the remaining twenty-five - through bile and feces.

In the case of kidney disease - the excretion of metabolites may decrease, the same processes are possible in the elderly.

Dosing and administration

Ultop is applied orally, by oral route, it is necessary to drink plenty of water.

With a stomach ulcer appointed, as a rule, twenty mg twice a day. The course lasts from two to six weeks.

With ulcerative duodenal lesions - one capsule two times a day, for four weeks.

With gastroesophageal reflux disease - one capsule twice a day, the course lasts up to eight weeks.

In the case of maintenance therapy - one capsule once a day for a year.

In chronic gastritis, when an increased level of acid in the stomach is formed - the method of application and dose are calculated for a three-week course - one capsule at twenty mg twice a day.  

Use Ultop during pregnancy

At present, there are no clinical studies that prove the neutral effect of the drug on the fetus during pregnancy. But the use of the drug for the treatment of pregnant women is possible in the case of strict control of the treating doctor together with the gynecologist - after all possible risks and consequences for use during pregnancy have been assessed.

During lactation - it is necessary to stop breastfeeding until a full recovery. 

Contraindications

Contraindications for use apply to the following groups of patients:

• Patients under the age of eighteen;
• Pregnant women and women who are in a state of lactation are breast-fed;
• They have a hereditary form of fructose intolerance;
• There is a syndrome of glucose-galactose indigestibility;
• In the body there is a shortage of sucrose;
• An increased reaction to one or more of the components of the drug is possible.

Overdose

When taking this medicine during the day at a rate of 360 milligrams - an overdose is not observed. If the allowable dose is exceeded, drowsiness, dizziness, or headaches may occur, abdominal pain, dryness in the oral cavity, impaired coordination, blurred vision, increased work on sweat separation. In rare cases, dyspnea or hypothermia occurs.

When treating the consequences of drug overdose Ultop, it is necessary to engage in therapy to eliminate symptoms. But remember that hemodialysis can not purify the body.

Interactions with other drugs

When combined with caffeine, diclofenac, metoprolol, theophylline, ethanol, lidocaine, estradiol, no changes in blood were detected. With the joint administration of antacids and Ultopa, the active components also do not interact with each other. Possible decrease in absorption of ampicillin or iron salts.

Clarithromycin increases Ultop's absorption of blood.

Storage conditions
