Ibuprofen-Norton is a member of the pharmacological group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), derivatives of isobutylphenyl-propionic acid.

Indications of the ibuprofen-Norton

Ibuprofen-Norton in the form of tablets is used as an anti-inflammatory and anesthetic for pain syndromes of different etiology and localization (headache and toothache, joint and muscle pains); as antipyretic - with feverish conditions.

Ibuprofen Norton in the form of a gel is used for neuralgia, myositis, rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, periarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, gout, bursitis, tendovaginitis, lumbago, etc. The gel will relieve pain and inflammation, increasing the mobility of the affected joints.

Form release: coated tablets, 200 mg and 300 mg (10 or 30 pieces per pack); 5% gel in tubes of 50 g.

Pharmacodynamics

The active substance of the preparation Ibuprofen-Norton (isobutylphenyl-propionic acid, internationally called ibuprofen) affects the synthesis of mediators of pain and inflammatory reactions of the body - prostaglandins - by blocking the enzyme of cyclooxygenase participating in their formation. Due to this, the neurohumoral system ceases to respond to pain and inflammatory syndromes.

Pharmacokinetics

After ingestion of Ibuprofen-Norton in the form of tablets, the active substance is absorbed into the digestive tract and enters the bloodstream. The maximum concentration in blood plasma is noted on average 1.5 hours after taking the drug; binding to plasma proteins - 90%. The active substance of the drug penetrates into the cerebrospinal fluid 3 hours after ingestion. The metabolism of the drug occurs in the liver, metabolic products and their hydroxyl and carboxyl compounds are rapidly and completely excreted from the body by the kidneys (with urine).

Ibuprofen-Norton gel, absorbed through the skin, has an identical pharmacokinetics.

Dosing and administration

Ibuprofen-Norton is prescribed to adults inside - 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours (during meals). The maximum allowable daily dose is 6 tablets. Children over 14 years of age have the same dosage. For one dose of the drug, children of 6-12 years of age are prescribed 7.5 mg of ibuprofen per kilogram of body weight; the maximum allowable daily dose is 30 mg / kg body weight.

The method of application of this drug in the form of gel is external: by applying a thin layer of the preparation to the skin in the area of inflammation with subsequent easy rubbing (3-4 times during the day). Occlusive bandages are acceptable.

Use of the ibuprofen-Norton during pregnancy

Use during pregnancy and during lactation is contraindicated.

It has been established that the use of this drug (as well as all NSAIDs of the ibuprofen group) during the last trimester of pregnancy can lead to premature closure of the arterial duct in the fetus and development of pulmonary hypertension, and may delay the onset of labor and increase their duration.

Contraindications

Ibuprofen-Norton in the form of tablets is contraindicated for use with hypersensitivity to ibuprofen, allergies to aspirin, stomach ulcer and duodenal ulcer, acute cardiac, renal or hepatic insufficiency, to patients under 6 years of age.

Contraindications to the use of Ibuprofen-Norton in the form of a gel (other than those listed above) - the presence of dermatoses, wet eczema or open wounds.

Side effects of the ibuprofen-Norton

Among the side effects of the drug Ibuprofen-Norton are: headache, nausea, epigastric pain, intestinal disorders (diarrhea or constipation), accompanied by itching on the skin, suppression of platelet aggregation, increased bleeding time, increased heart rate, lowering blood pressure.

In the presence of allergies and bronchial asthma, this drug can provoke spasm of the bronchi; Patients with arterial hypertension may develop swelling of soft tissues. A significant excess of dosage, as well as a prolonged intake of Ibuprofen-Norton tablets, can cause thrombosis of the arteries.

Ibuprofen-Norton in the form of gel side effects gives very rarely. Most often, the burning of the skin at the site of the application of the gel occurs when an occlusive dressing is applied.

Overdose

Overdose of the drug for internal and local application is expressed in such symptoms as headache, nausea, vomiting, tinnitus, abdominal pain, drowsiness, visual disturbances, convulsions, decreased blood pressure.

To remove symptoms of an overdose, the stomach is washed, the inside of the activated carbon is taken, and in the case of prolonged convulsions, diazepam is intravenously administered.

Interactions with other drugs

The use of Ibuprofen-Norton simultaneously with acetylsalicylic acid and other NSAIDs is not allowed. When oral antibiotics and Ibuprofen-Norton side effects of antibiotics are strengthened, and when used in parallel with cardiac glycosides, the therapeutic effect of the latter is neutralized.

Also, Ibuprofen-Norton reduces the effect of diuretic and hypotensive drugs and increases the likelihood of bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract when combined with steroid drugs (hydrocortisone, cortisone, etc.).
