Vasar should be attributed to medications that stabilize blood pressure. The active component of this drug is valsartan - an effective blocker of angiotensin II receptors.
Release form
Vazan is produced in a tablet form intended for internal administration. The tablets covered with a cover, can have a various dosage and color: 0,04 g - yellow shade, 0,08 g - pink, and 0,16 g - also yellow color.
Vazan consists of an active component of valsartan and in a smaller amount - hydrochlorothiazide. As auxiliary substances are lactose, MCC, croscarmellose, magnesium stearate, etc.
Pharmacodynamics
The active ingredient of the medication is a specific angiotensin II antagonist. It selectively affects a number of AT-1 receptors that are responsible for performing the functions of angiotensin II.
The АТ¹ receptors are blocked, the serum level of antitension in the blood serum increases, which helps activate AT2 receptors that have not been blocked.
The active component is not able to inhibit ACE, and also interact and block other types of hormonal receptors and ion channels that may be important for the normal functioning of the cardiovascular system.
The drug has no effect on the amount of cholesterol in the bloodstream.
Pharmacokinetics
The property of Vasar to reduce blood pressure manifests itself within the first two hours. The maximum effect can be observed within 5 hours after a single application of the drug. The action of Vasar is maintained throughout the day.
With long-term treatment, the maximum effect is detected within 3 weeks, which then remains unchanged during the entire period of the therapeutic course.
Strengthening the pressure-reducing effect of the drug due to hydrochlorothiazide, which is part of the drug.
Completion of the treatment course usually does not entail withdrawal syndrome. When appointing an additional course of treatment, there may be a small cumulation.
The active substances of the medication are quickly absorbed, the bioavailability of substances is determined at a rate of 23%. They bind to serum proteins.
After oral administration, about 83% of the medication will be excreted unchanged with a caloric mass, and about 13% - through the urinary system.
Dosing and administration
The usual therapeutic dosage of Vasar for signs of hypertension can be 0.16 g once a day. The dosage can be adjusted by the doctor to 0.32 g per day, if there are appropriate indications. Combined treatment regimens are possible with the use of other drugs similar in effect.
The starting dose for chronic forms of cardiac insufficiency can be 0.04 g twice daily, with a gradual increase in the dose to 0.16 g twice daily.
The starting dose after myocardial infarction may be 0.02 g twice daily, with a gradual increase in dosage to 0.16 g twice daily.
The use of the drug in childhood and adolescence was not studied.

The use of dialysis in case of Vasar overdose is not considered expedient, as the substance of the preparation is bound in large quantities by serum proteins.
Interactions with other drugs
Simultaneous use of funds rich in potassium (antiarrhythmics, potassium-sparing diuretics, vitamin complexes) may require caution and periodic monitoring of potassium levels in the body.
The use of other diuretics and pressure-lowering drugs does not form cross-interaction with Vasar. In some cases, such drugs only potentiate the effect of valsartan.
The use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can reduce the hypotensive effect, as well as temporarily disrupt the renal function. After the withdrawal of drugs, urinary functions are usually restored.
The drug enhances the effect of curare-like relaxants.
The risk of hypokalemia increases with the combined use of corticosteroids, penicillin derivatives, saluretics, salicylates.
