Pharmacodynamics
What are the biochemical and physiological effects of Abistan?
Pharmacodynamics of abistan cream is that clobetasol propionate is used for topical use. It penetrates into the cell membrane and binds to glucocorticoid receptors. In connective, lymphoid, muscular and adipose tissue, abistan has a powerful anti-catabolic effect. As for clobetasol, it has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and immunosuppressive effects. When it is applied, edema, hyperemia, and itching on the skin are significantly reduced. Gentamicin sulfate (antibiotic, which is contained in the drug), has a pronounced bactericidal effect against many microorganisms.
Pharmacokinetics
What is the chemical and biological process in the body, when using a drug such as abistan? Pharmacokinetics is as follows: when applied to the surface of the intact skin of clobetasol propionate adsorbed no more than 5%. If the skin has a small inflammatory process - it increases the penetration of clobetasol into the body, but not the most.
Gentamicin is not adsorbed very much. It has the property of binding to plasma proteins (up to 10%), and its half-life lasts from 2 to 4 hours. The drug is not metabolized, and is excreted from the body mainly with urine.
Also, the pharmacokinetics of abistan cream is that when the drug is applied to the skin, miconazole is almost not absorbed, and does not enter the systemic bloodstream.
Dosing and administration
Since abistan is a means of external use, the way of application and dose is quite simple. The cream is applied 1 or 2 times a day. Applying abistan is required very thin layer on the skin. If you have hypertrophic lichen, a keloid cicatrix, a pretybial myxedema, then the drug can be applied in the form of an application, or under an occlusive (hermetic) bandage 1 time per day. If you resorted to cryotherapy, and want to prevent an inflammatory reaction, then abistan is applied 2 times a day for 3-4 days. And, in general, the treatment period is indicated by the doctor, being guided by the individuality of the case. If the remedy does not give the proper effect for 2-4 weeks, you need to consult a doctor and clarify the diagnosis. Perhaps, I need to adjust the treatment.

Contraindications
The main contraindications for the use of abistan are:
- if the body has increased sensitivity to clobetasol propionate, gentamicin sulfate, as well as miconazole nitrate. Clobetasol propionate is a hormonal corticosteroid substance. Gentamycin sulfate belongs to antibiotics, and has a very wide spectrum of action. But miconazole nitrate - an element that has an antifungal and anti-inflammatory effect.
Also contraindication to the use of abistan is referred to as: skin tuberculosis, syphilitic skin lesions, skin reactions after vaccination. With skin cancer, this drug is particularly contraindicated.

Overdose
Studies have shown that if abstane is topically applied, then an overdose of the drug is not observed. If you use abistan on a large area of the body, it can lead to absorption of the corticosteroid, and also cause such a phenomenon as hypercorticism. These reactions can occur with prolonged use. Corticosteroids are hormones that provide anti-inflammatory action. They are produced in small amounts in the adrenal cortex. As for the syndrome of hypercorticism - this disease occurs when the regular effect on the body of a large number of hormonal drugs.
