Ebermin is one of the newest drugs that inhibits the reproduction of microbes and stimulates the healing of tissues damaged as a result of burns, wounds or skin erosions. The action of the drug is so soft and sparing that it helps to prevent the appearance on the site of the wound surface of excess proliferation of scar tissue and the development of contractures.
[1]
Indications Ebermin
The agent is prescribed for the treatment of burn lesions of the skin, both superficial and deep penetration, and it is proved that the use of the preparation significantly reduces the overall duration of tissue regeneration.
Ointment is used when it is necessary to granulate damaged tissues, as well as to accelerate the engraftment of skin grafts.
The main indications for the use of Ebermin are:
- face;
- thermal burn injuries;
- trophic ulcers;
- pressure sores;
- violation of the integrity of the skin when frostbite;
- ulcers that appear due to the use of cytostatics;
- radiation dermatitis;
- surgical and purulent wound surfaces;
- use of radiotherapy.

Release form
The preparation is made in the form of an external ointment, which is a light, homogeneous substance with a delicate creamy consistency and a subtle, distinctive smell.
The drug is dispensed in vials of 30 or 200 g. Contains 0.01 mg of human epidermal growth factor and 1 g of 2-sulfanilamidopyrimidine silver supplemented with hydrophilic excipient.
[3]
Pharmacodynamics
The drug has a peptide component that stimulates the migration and proliferative properties of fibroblast, keratinoid cells, as well as endothelium, which take an active part in the regeneration of the wound surface. This contributes to the normal growth of the epithelium, the process of scarring with the restoration of elastic properties of tissues.
The growth factor is produced by DNA recombination; on dynamics, it has extreme similarities with the endogenous factor, which is synthesized by the body.
Sulfanilamidopyrimidine supports the regenerative process with its extensive antibacterial action: it is effective against various microbes, as well as candida fungus and dermatophytes.
The auxiliary substances presented in the ointment contribute to moistening the wound surface, reducing painful sensations and maintaining the required concentration of the drug on the treated area.
Ebermin contributes to the process of natural collagenosis, preventing the formation of keloid cicatricial changes and tissue hypertrophy.
Pharmacokinetics
Ointment exerts an exclusively external local effect on the affected tissues: there is no absorption of active substances into the circulatory system.
Dosing and administration
The use of the drug is possible at almost any stage of burn and ulcerative lesions.
After the mandatory antiseptic treatment of the wound surface, the wound is dried, then the therapeutic substance is applied with a thin layer (approximately 1.5 mm). On top, the treated area is covered with a gauze cloth or sterile bandage. Ointment is usually applied once a day, but more frequent or rare use of the drug is allowed.
If, when removing the dressing, its adhesion to the wound surface is detected, it is recommended to moisten the bandage with saline, a solution of furacilin, or another antiseptic.
If the dressing is not applied, and wound healing will be open method, the use of ointment should be increased to 3-4 times a day.
The procedure for changing the dressing and applying the ointment should be done very carefully, so as not to injure the forming granulation and epithelial tissue.
The duration of treatment is determined by many factors and is assigned individually.
Use Ebermin during pregnancy
Reliable data, which allows us to unequivocally judge the effect of Ebermin on the growth and development of the embryo, as well as on the pregnancy itself, does not exist at the moment. As a consequence, many doctors do not recommend the use of this drug in the period of bearing and breastfeeding.
On the other hand, it is known that absorption of the drug into the total blood flow does not occur, which suggests that some safety of treatment for pregnant women with this drug is possible.
Proceeding from the foregoing, the question of the appropriateness and necessity of the use of the Ebermin drug by pregnant women should be decided by a specialist, on the basis of determining the existing risk and the benefits for the future mother.
Contraindications
The main contraindications to the use of the drug:
- the possibility of allergic manifestations to any component of the ointment;
- period of pregnancy, lactation, newborns and premature babies;
- The presence of neoplasms in the place of application of the drug;
- use of ointment to stimulate the healing of surgical wounds obtained after complete or partial removal of neoplasms;
- severe failure of the liver and urinary system.
Side effects Ebermin
The occurrence of side effects is a rarity for this drug. However, in the presence of hypersensitivity of the body, it is possible to develop an allergic reaction to sulfanilamides or medications containing silver. This is expressed in hyperthermia, facial hyperemia, skin rashes, unpleasant sensations on the skin, soreness, tightness of the skin.
If side effects occur, it is recommended to stop using the ointment.

Overdose
Signs of drug overdose may have symptoms of toxic effects of sulfonamide drugs:
- dyspeptic disorders;
- joint pain;
- the appearance of seizures;
- disorders of liver and kidney function;
- drowsiness.
Overdose therapy is symptomatic, it is recommended that a large amount of liquid is taken. In severe cases, blood transfusion and hemodialysis are used.
Storage conditions
The drug is stored in a dark place at room temperature. Keep away from children.
