Zalain

Zalain is a highly effective medical assistant, perfectly coping with a wide range of infections of fungal and bacterial genesis, while he does not have in his arsenal any contraindications (with the exception of individual intolerance to the constituents of the drug) nor unpleasant side effects.

Indications Zalain

This drug is used locally - applied directly to the area of pathology. Indications for use Zalain quite extensive:

• Mycosis of the skin is the most common disease, provoked by pathogenic, parasitic fungi.
• Epidermophytosis, manifests itself often in the ankle (fungal pathology of the upper layers of the skin).
• Candidiasis, in its cutaneous manifestation.
• Dermatophytosis of the groin area.
• Trichophytosis (ringworm), appearing on the skin of the face and head.
• Dermatomycosis, which can capture the area of the hands, legs, trunk and so on.
• Peregrine lichen.
• Fungal infection of the vaginal mucosa.
• Vaginal candidiasis.
• Mixed vaginal infections.

At the same time, all these diseases began to develop due to "provocation" on the part of microorganisms sensitive to sertaconazole.

Release form

On the pharmaceutical market Zalain is presented in the form of a cream, produced in a tube of 20 g. Another form of production of this drug is the vaginal suppository (suppositories), which are produced sealed in one piece in a package.

Pharmacodynamics

The active substance of the medical preparation Zalain is sertaconazole (a derivative of such substances as benzothiophene and imidazole), which explains the pharmacodynamics of Zalain. Due to this, the medicine has a high antifungal effect, especially parasitic fungi of the genus Candid, which gives an excellent opportunity to stop and completely cure diseases caused by these microorganisms (for example, candidiasis of different localization, trichophytosis and others). This drug works well against such Gram-positive bacteria as streptococci or staphylococci, possessing antibacterial characteristics.

Zalain has a high degree of penetration, including in the cells of the fungus, which gives him the ability to destroy the "enemy" from within. Sertaconazole, due to the azole ring located in its molecular structure, also exhibits antagonism to the synthesis of ergosterol, which is one of the central in the fusiform connective structure. This property does not allow the fungus to multiply, the benzothiophene component of Zalain promotes complete destruction of the parasite's cell membrane. Due to complex effects, the parasitic fungus is killed, its and recurrent abilities are reduced.

Sertaconazole perfectly fights with a fairly broad spectrum of microorganisms of fungal genesis, and the localization of Zalain's application stops its absorption into the general system of blood supply of the body.

Pharmacokinetics

Thanks to the local use of suppositories and ointments, including intravaginal use, there is a fairly positive pharmacokinetics of Zalain. During the course of clinical trials, the active substance of sertaconazole was not detected either in the patient's urine or in his blood.

Dosing and administration

In connection with the different form of release of the drug, the method of administration and dose are somewhat different in their medical protocol.

The drug in the form of a cream is taken locally, causing one or two times on the affected area and the course of the day until the symptoms of the disease completely disappear. But in order to prevent further manifestation of a fungal infectious disease in the future, the course of prevention should be carried out during the next two weeks after the clinic is closed. 

Cream Zalain very carefully, a small layer is applied to the pathologically altered area, slightly capturing and a small strip of healthy epidermis. The duration of treatment depends primarily on the type to which the agent belongs, as well as on the location of the disease. It is always better to start treatment earlier, when revealing the first signs of the disease.

The way of use and dose of the drug when it is used vaginally in the form of candles. Suppositories are injected into the body of a woman once a day. Do this preferably in the evening, in the "lying on the back" position and as far as possible deeper. Do not cancel the medication during the menstrual cycle. Often, one-time reception of Zalain suppository is sufficient. If the patient is susceptible to recurrent manifestations of the disease, then the injection of the drug can be repeated in a week (7 days). During the reception of vaginal suppositories, the gynecologist does not recommend using soap with an acidic pH reaction.

Use Zalain during pregnancy

This drug is presumed to be external, and even with prolonged use, neither it nor its components were detected in urine or blood plasma during laboratory tests. But the use of Zalain during pregnancy or during breastfeeding can not be unequivocally stated as safe. Therefore, if there is a need for its use, the treating physician needs to measure the expected use of Zalain with a possible risk, both for the woman herself and her fetus (newborn).

When applying Zalain in the form of vaginal suppositories, in this period, it is necessary to refrain from douching and using soaps and gels, the alkalinity of which is shifted towards the acidic medium. At the same time, this medication should only be administered with the permission and under the constant supervision of the doctor. During this period, it is desirable for a woman to use natural cotton underwear.

Based on the foregoing, we can conclude. If there is a possibility to shift the treatment (taking Zalain) for the period after childbirth and ending the baby's breastfeeding - it is necessary to do this.

Contraindications

Substantial contraindications to the use of Zalain for a given period of time were not found, (no deep studies were conducted). Here, only the hypersensitivity of the patient's body to the components of the drug or to imidazole derivatives can be noted. There is no unambiguous statement about the complete safety of the drug for a woman and a child during pregnancy or lactation, therefore Zalain's use is carried out only with the vital signs of the woman in labor. Do not use this medication in ophthalmology.

Side effects Zalain

This drug is well tolerated by patients and, often, its reception to do without any surprises. But Zalain's side-effects are still observed, and they include:

• Erythema. A strong reddening of the epidermis, the cause of which is the expansion of capillaries. Pass themselves and quickly enough, drug cancellation is not required.

Due to the fact that Zalain does not exert any systemic influence on the human body, the organism also does not respond to its reception with negative manifestations.

Overdose

Given the superficial, external, use of the drug and its insignificant amount of application, an overdose is simply not possible, only with the use of suppositories, vaginal manifest minor side effects. To date, there have been no reports of cases when there was an overdose of Zalain's drug.

Interactions with other drugs

The simultaneous use of Zalain in the form of a vaginal suppository and contraceptives of topical application may adversely affect the current characteristics of contraceptives, which will reduce their suppressive spermicidal effect. Positive or negative manifestation of interaction Zalain with other drugs is not established.

Storage conditions

The drug is recommended by the pharmacological manufacturing company to store in the temperature range from 15 to 25 ^о С, in places not accessible to small children. That is, the storage conditions Zalain is similar to the conditions of maintenance and many other medications.

Shelf life

Three years (36 months) - quite a good expiration date. But in the case when it is overdue, the drug should not be used.
