Small and large rhomboid muscles (mm. Rhomboidei minor et major) often coalesce and form one muscle. A small rhomboid muscle begins on the lower part of the nuchal ligament, the spinous processes of the VII cervical and 1st thoracic vertebrae and on the bony bundle. The muscle bundles go obliquely from top to bottom and laterally, attach to the medial edge of the scapula above the level of the scapula of the scapula.

A large rhomboid muscle originates on the spinous processes of the II-V thoracic vertebrae. The muscle is attached to the medial edge of the scapula below the level of its awn, down to its lower corner. The rhomboid muscles, located under the trapezius muscle, cover the upper posterior dentate muscle and the muscle, which straightens the trunk.

Function: bring the scapula closer to the spine, while moving it upward.

Innervation: dorsal nerve of scapula (CIV-CV).

Blood supply: transverse artery of the neck, suprascapular artery, posterior intercostal arteries.
