Biosept

Biosept is included in the category of drugs with antiseptic properties. In addition, it can be used as a disinfectant.

Pharmacodynamics

The main active ingredient of the drug is ethyl alcohol (it has different percentages). The substance is a monohydric alcohol, which is also called alcohol, methylcarbinol, or simply alcohol. In addition to providing an antiseptic effect, ethanol can be used as a solvent, fuel or filler for thermometers.

Demonstrates tanning activity against mucous membranes and dermis.

After consuming ethyl alcohol orally, a powerful stimulating effect on the central nervous system (especially in relation to the cerebral cortex) develops. The effect of the substance leads to a weakening of the retarding processes.

Dosing and administration

Use Biosept during pregnancy

Contraindications

The medication should not be used in people with severe intolerance to the active ingredient of the medication or its auxiliary elements. In addition, it is forbidden to prescribe in the presence of severe inflammation on the patient's epidermis. Other contraindications:

• pulmonary edema therapy;
• excitement of a psychomotor nature;
• intact pain syndrome associated with myocardial infarction (due to poor tolerance and poor effectiveness of this type of treatment in people with the above syndromes).

Often, when the drug is used externally in standard dosages, it is tolerated without complications. Possible side signs include:

• suppression of central nervous system function.

Overdose

In the case of using drugs for external procedures, the development of an overdose was not noted. With intravenous or oral administration of large portions of the medication, the following symptoms may be observed:

• suppression of the activity of the respiratory center;
• coma (manifestations - facial hyperemia, vomiting, temperature decrease, pupillary constriction, clammy and cold skin, as well as involuntary defecation and urination; in case of progression, nystagmus, respiratory distress and tachycardia develop);
• aspiration of vomiting, convulsions, or laryngospasm;
• cessation of the respiratory process associated with asphyxia of a mechanical nature;
• suppression of the work of the CCC.

In case of intoxication, it is necessary to carry out symptomatic actions, perform gastric lavage and induction of vomiting, and also give the patient enterosorbents.

Interactions with other drugs

Oral intake of ethyl alcohol together with nitrofurans leads to an increase in the toxicity of the latter.

The introduction of ethanol in combination with antidiabetic substances can provoke a hypoglycemic coma.

Ethyl alcohol can weaken the effect of thiamine.

Use in combination with aspirin increases the likelihood of gastric ulcers.

The use of drugs together with sleeping pills can provoke a severe violation of the respiratory process.

Ethyl alcohol increases the level of neurotoxicity of cephalosporins with penicillins and fluoroquinolones (regardless of how ethanol was administered - through intravenous injection or orally).

Storage conditions

Biosept must be kept at temperatures within the 25 ° C mark.

Shelf life

Biosept can be used within 24 months from the date of manufacture of the pharmaceutical substance.
