Biotredin is a medicine used for alcoholism. It is a regulator of tissue metabolism that reduces alcohol cravings and increases intellectual function.

The L-threonine component undergoes a decomposition process under the influence of pyridoxine, forming acetaldehyde together with glycine. These elements help to stimulate retarding reactions, and with it the processes of reduction-oxidation, respiratory function and intracellular binding of the ATP component. [1]

Indications Biotredin

It is used in people with chronic alcoholism or alcohol abuse. In addition, it is used in the case of actualization of pathological craving for alcohol, which is combined with affective disorders (deterioration of mood, irritability and feelings of internal discomfort), as well as in the case of alcohol withdrawal. May be prescribed to identify and treat "latent craving" for alcohol.

In addition, it is used to increase concentration and intellectual activity.

Release form

The drug is released in the form of sublingual tablets - 30 pieces inside the contour plate. Inside the box there are 1 or 2 such plates.

Pharmacodynamics

  • weakening of the stress having a psychoemotional nature;
  • improvement of long- and short-term memory, and in addition to this concentration of attention;
  • increased intellectual activity;
  • stabilization and an increase in the indicators of internal acetaldehyde, which makes it possible to weaken alcohol withdrawal symptoms and cravings for alcohol consumption.

The therapeutic effect of the medication develops after 10-20 minutes from the moment of sublignal administration of the drug.

Pharmacokinetics

Pyridoxine together with L-threonine are fully metabolized with the formation of carbon dioxide and water. These substances do not accumulate inside the body.

Dosing and administration

The medication is used in the form of a sublingual tablet or as a powder, which is obtained by grinding an existing tablet.

To increase intellectual activity and improve attention, you need to take 1 tablet of the drug 2-3 times a day for a 3-10-day period. If necessary, this cycle can be repeated 3-4 times a year.

People who abuse alcohol, as well as suffering from alcoholism in the chronic phase, use 1-3 tablets per use, 2-3 times a day for a period of 4-5 days. If there is a need, such a course can be repeated 5-10 times a year.

During alcohol withdrawal for the 1st day, an adult should take 1-4 tablets, 3-4 times a day (the daily portion is thus within 3-16 tablets). On the 2nd day and in the future, the patient consumes 1-2 tablets per dose, 2-3 times a day (the daily dosage is 3-6 tablets), in the period of 3-4 weeks. The duration of the treatment cycle can be reduced to 10-14 days.

The drug reaches its maximum effect in the case of a combination with glycine (100 mg tablets), which is used sublingually 10-15 minutes before using Biotredin.

In remission, in order to determine the latent craving for alcohol, an adult needs to apply 2-3 tablets of drugs on an empty stomach. Dizziness, sweating, and redness on the face after a 10 to 20-minute stretch is a sign of such cravings. In such a case, a 5-10-day cycle of drug intake is prescribed (1-2 tablets 2-3 times a day) in combination with sublingual administration of 0.1 g of glycine (it is used 10-15 minutes before using Biotredin).
