Biotredin is a drug used in alcoholism. It is a tissue metabolism regulator that reduces cravings for alcohol and increases intellectual function.

The component L-threonine, under the influence of pyridoxine, undergoes a process of disintegration, forming acetaldehyde together with glycine. These elements help to stimulate slowing reactions, and along with them, the processes of reduction-oxidation, respiratory function and intracellular binding of the ATP component. [ 1 ]

Indications Biotredine

It is used in people suffering from chronic alcoholism or abusing alcoholic beverages. In addition, it is used in the case of actualization of pathological craving for alcohol, which is combined with affective disorders (worsening of mood, irritability and a feeling of internal discomfort), as well as in the case of alcohol withdrawal. It can be prescribed to determine and treat "latent craving" for alcohol.

In addition, it is used to improve concentration and intellectual activity.

Release form

The drug is released in the form of sublingual tablets - 30 pieces inside a blister. Inside the box - 1 or 2 such blister.

Pharmacodynamics

The properties of the active elements of the drug contribute to the development of the following effects:

  • reduction of stress of a psycho-emotional nature;
  • improving long-term and short-term memory, as well as concentration;
  • increase in intellectual activity;
  • stabilization and increase in internal acetaldehyde levels, which helps to reduce alcohol withdrawal and cravings for alcohol.

The therapeutic effect of the drug develops within 10-20 minutes from the moment of sublingual administration of the drug.

Pharmacokinetics

Pyridoxine and L-threonine are fully metabolized to form carbon dioxide and water. These substances do not accumulate inside the body.

Dosing and administration

The medication is used in the form of a sublingual tablet or as a powder, which is obtained by crushing an existing tablet.

To increase intellectual activity and improve attention, you need to take 1 tablet of the medicine 2-3 times a day for a 3-10-day period. If necessary, such a cycle can be repeated 3-4 times a year.

People who abuse alcohol, as well as those suffering from alcoholism in the chronic phase, use 1-3 tablets per use, 2-3 times a day for a period of 4-5 days. If necessary, such a course can be repeated 5-10 times a year.

During alcohol withdrawal, on the first day an adult should take 1-4 tablets, 3-4 times a day (the daily dose is thus within 3-16 tablets). On the second day and thereafter, the patient takes 1-2 tablets per dose, 2-3 times a day (the daily dose is 3-6 tablets), for a period of 3-4 weeks. The duration of the treatment cycle can be reduced to 10-14 days.

The drug achieves its maximum effect when combined with glycine (100 mg tablets), which is used sublingually 10-15 minutes before using Biotredin.

During remission, to determine the latent craving for alcohol, an adult needs to take 2-3 tablets of the drug on an empty stomach. The occurrence of a calming effect, dizziness, sweating and redness on the face after a 10-20-minute period is a sign of the presence of such a craving. In such a case, a 5-10-day cycle of taking the drug is prescribed (1-2 tablets 2-3 times a day) in combination with sublingual administration of 0.1 g of glycine (it is used 10-15 minutes before using Biotredin).
