Indications of the plaster from burns

The usual plaster in our time already no one is surprised: it is used for all kinds of skin damage. However, not everyone knows that there are also patches that can treat burns. Such adaptations are most often recommended for superficial burns, which can be cured without resorting to a doctor.

Clinical indications for the use of patches for burns are:

  • superficial and border burns;
  • period of rehabilitation after surgical necrosectomy for burns;
  • period of rehabilitation after the procedure of autodermoplasty.

In addition, the burn patch can be used as an additional fixing agent for wound substrates with cell cultures, as well as for the treatment of chronic wound surfaces, purulent furuncles and frostbite.

Release form

The burn plaster is a rectangular plate with various sizes (depending on the manufacturer), with a protective paper layer. The patch is placed in a hermetically sealed sterile package, which guarantees the sterility of the product.

Names of bandages from burns

Plasters from burns accelerate the healing of the wound surface, creating an aseptic moist environment that promotes the qualitative and rapid growth of epidermal cells. Many people try to compare such a remedy with a conventional band-aid, but these two pharmaceutical products have nothing in common.

All existing patch-based patches from burns, regardless of the manufacturer, are made of quality materials, which are then impregnated with an anti-burn drug. In contact with the wound, the plaster material adsorbs serous or purulent discharge, transforming them into a gel-like form. Thus there is a rapid healing of the affected tissue.

  • Nano plaster from burns is the latest development of Russian scientists, which, according to the authors, helps to heal even large burns. Nano patch has a natural composition, with the main active ingredient chitosan - a substance derived from the chitinous layer of crabs. Being on the surface of the affected skin, the patch gradually dissolves, while simultaneously the patient's own cellular structures form a new healthy tissue. Nano-patch is a relatively new invention, so at the moment there is no reliable data on the degree of its effectiveness.
  • The patch of burns Branolind with Peruvian balsam is made in the form of a bandage, with bactericidal and anti-inflammatory impregnation. The composition of the drug is represented by branolind ointment, Peruvian balsam, glycerin and vaseline oil. The branolind plaster is considered to be hypoallergenic, and it can be used not only for thermal burn therapy, but also for trophic ulcers, frostbite, and chemical burns. This preparation is not suitable for the treatment of wounds with tissue necrosis sites.

A patch from burns with Peruvian balsam is suitable for use in adults and children, both with superficial and with more serious burns.

  • Gel plaster from burns Gelepran is a hydrogel preparation that has a water base of 70%. The patch has a soft, elastic structure. It is transparent, which allows you to monitor the course of wound processes without removing the bandage. Helplane provides a sufficient degree of wound hydration and protection from infection.

The gel patch is available in three versions:

Plaster Geplyran with miramistin, has antibacterial coating

It is used for the treatment of dry burn wounds.

Plaster Gelepran with lidocaine, has analgesic coating

It is used for external anesthesia of burns.

Plaster from burns with silver Gelepran, has a prolonged antibacterial action

It is used for the treatment of dry burn wounds.

  • Plaster from burns Cosmos has a moistened gel in its composition, therefore the main properties of this plaster are considered moisturizing and absorbing. Plaster Cosmos activates the local defenses of the body, so that healing takes place quickly and without complications.

Plaster from burns Cosmos is not suitable for the treatment of infected burn wounds.

Pharmacodynamics

Bandages from burns accelerate the tightening of wounds, stimulate the outflow of secretions, prevent the entry of microbes, and do not interfere with the free circulation of air under the bandage.

The main properties of bandages from burns are anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous and antiseptic.

If such patches are used after skin transplantation, then they can improve the engraftment of tissues and optimize the buildup of the epithelium.

As a rule, plasters from burns have a hypoallergenic basis, so they can be used in patients with hypersensitive skin.

Additional components of patches have an auxiliary therapeutic effect - most often healing and disinfecting, sometimes - anesthetic. Combined composition of impregnation of patches allows to achieve the fastest tightening of wound surface.

Pharmacokinetics

Bandages from burns have an exclusively local effect, and the components of impregnations do not enter the systemic circulation. For this reason, the kinetic properties of the patches are not considered.

Dosing and administration

The use of patches for burns can be described as follows:

  • Before applying the patch you need to wash your hands well.
  • If the burn is just obtained, and is superficial, cool the fault site under running water.
  • Gently pat the skin near the wound with a sterile bandage or gauze.
  • Unpack the plaster and remove the protective film from one side.
  • Apply the patch with the open side to the wound, and then make sure that the patch is tight and evenly attached to the skin.
  • Remove the protective film from the other side.
  • Regularly check how the wound is healing.

To remove the patch, pull lightly at one of its corners, then gently remove the entire patch.

The use of such drugs is allowed until the wound surface is completely healed.

Be sure to consult a doctor if:

  • the wound was red, swollen, there was a strong pain;
  • there was a purulent discharge;
  • Within four days the wound did not begin to be tightened.

In addition, an appeal to the doctor should be mandatory for a large area of burn.

Use of the plaster from burns during pregnancy

Most of the bandages from burns have not been tested for the safety of their use by pregnant and nursing patients. However, given the exclusively local effects of such drugs, their use in pregnancy and breastfeeding can be tolerated. But: only on relatively small areas of the skin and after consulting a doctor.

Contraindications

Contraindication to the treatment of patches from burns is hypersensitivity to the substances that make up the impregnation or the material from which the plaster is made. It is not recommended to apply a patch from burns to infected wounds, as well as burn zones, which have extensive areas of necrosis.

Bandages are not used for severe bleeding from the wound, with profuse purulent discharge, and also with extensive body burns (more than 10-15% of the entire surface).
