Залаин

Zalain is a highly effective medical assistant that copes well with a wide range of infections of fungal and bacterial genesis, while it has no contraindications (except for individual intolerance to the components of the drug) or unpleasant side effects.

Indications Zalain

The drug in question is used locally – applied directly to the area of pathology. Indications for the use of Zalain are quite extensive:

Moreover, all these diseases began to develop due to “provocation” from microorganisms sensitive to sertaconazole.

Release form

On the pharmaceutical market, the drug Zalain is presented in the form of a cream, released in a 20 g tube. Another form of release of this drug is vaginal suppositories, which are produced sealed one piece per package.

Pharmacodynamics

The active substance of the drug Zalain is sertaconazole (a derivative of such substances as benzothiophene and imidazole), which determines the pharmacodynamics of Zalain. Due to this, the drug has a high antifungal effect, parasitic fungi of the genus Candid are especially sensitive to it, which gives an excellent opportunity to stop and completely cure diseases caused by these microorganisms (for example, candidiasis of various localizations, trichophytosis and others). This drug also works well against such gram-positive bacteria as streptococci or staphylococci, possessing antibacterial properties.

Zalain has a high degree of penetration, including into the fungal cells, which enables it to destroy the "enemy" from the inside. Sertaconazole, due to the azole ring in its molecular structure, also exhibits antagonism to the synthesis of ergosterol, which is one of the centers in the fungal connective structure. This property prevents the fungus from reproducing, while the benzothiophene component of Zalain facilitates the complete destruction of the parasite's cell membrane. As a result of the complex effect, the parasitic fungus dies, and its recurrent abilities are reduced.

Sertaconazole effectively combats a fairly wide range of fungal microorganisms, and the local application of Zalain prevents its absorption into the body's general blood supply system.

Pharmacokinetics

Due to the local application of suppositories and ointments, including intravaginal use, Zalain has quite positive pharmacokinetics. During clinical studies, the active substance sertaconazole was not detected in the patient's urine or blood.

Dosing and administration

Due to the different forms of release of the drug, the method of administration and dosage differ somewhat according to its treatment protocol.

The medicine in the form of a cream is taken locally, applying to the affected area once or twice a day until the symptoms of the disease completely disappear. But in order to prevent the recurrence of a fungal infectious disease in the future, a course of prevention should be carried out over the next two weeks after the clinical symptoms have been stopped.

Zalain cream is applied very carefully, in a thin layer, to the pathologically altered area, slightly capturing a small strip of healthy epidermis. The duration of treatment primarily depends on the type of pathogen, as well as on the location of the disease. It is always better to start treatment earlier, when the first signs of the disease are detected.

Method of administration and dosage of the drug when used vaginally in the form of suppositories. Suppositories are inserted into the woman's body once a day. It is advisable to do this in the evening, in the "lying on your back" position and as deeply as possible. You should not stop taking the drug during the menstrual cycle. A single dose of Zalain suppository is often sufficient. If the patient is prone to recurrent manifestations of the disease, then the drug can be administered again in a week (7 days). During the period of taking vaginal suppositories, the gynecologist does not recommend using soap with an acidic pH reaction.

Use Zalain during pregnancy

The drug in question is prescribed externally, and even with prolonged use, neither it nor its components were detected in urine or blood plasma during laboratory tests. However, the use of Zalain during pregnancy or breastfeeding cannot be unequivocally stated as safe. Therefore, if there is a need to use it, the attending physician must weigh the expected benefit from using Zalain against the possible risk, both for the woman herself and for her fetus (newborn).

When using Zalain in the form of vaginal suppositories, during this period, it is necessary to refrain from douching and using soaps and gels, the alkalinity of which is shifted towards an acidic environment. At the same time, this drug should be administered only with the permission and under the constant supervision of a doctor. During this period, it is advisable for a woman to use natural cotton underwear.

Based on the above, we can draw a conclusion. If it is possible to postpone the treatment (taking Zalain) to the period after childbirth and the end of breastfeeding, it is necessary to do so.

Contraindications

Significant contraindications to the use of Zalain have not been found at this time (no in-depth studies have been conducted). Here, we can only note the hypersensitivity of the patient's body to the components of the drug or to imidazole derivatives. There is no unambiguous statement about the complete safety of the drug for a woman and a child during pregnancy or lactation, so Zalain is used only if the mother is vitally healthy. This medication should not be used in ophthalmology either.

Side effects Zalain

This drug is well tolerated by patients and, often, its use is done without any surprises. But side effects of Zalain are still observed, and these include:

  • Erythema. Severe reddening of the epidermis, caused by dilated capillaries. Passes on its own and fairly quickly, no need to stop the medication.

Due to the fact that Zalain does not have any systemic effect on the human body, the body does not respond to its intake with negative manifestations.

Overdose

Given the superficial, external use of the drug and its small amount of application, an overdose is simply not possible, only when using suppositories vaginally do minor side effects occur. To date, there have been no reports of cases where an overdose of the drug Zalain has been reported.

Interactions with other drugs

The simultaneous use of Zalain in the form of a vaginal suppository and local contraceptives may adversely affect the active characteristics of contraceptives, which will reduce their spermicide-suppressing effect. Positive or negative interactions of Zalain with other drugs have not been established.

Storage conditions

The pharmaceutical manufacturer recommends storing the medicine in a temperature range of 15 to 25 ° C, in places inaccessible to small children. That is, the storage conditions of Zalain are similar to the conditions of keeping many other medications.

Shelf life

Three years (36 months) is a pretty good shelf life. But if it is expired, the medicine should not be used.
