Ioddicerin belongs to the pharmacological group of external antiseptic and anti-inflammatory agents.

Indications Ioddicerin

Indications for the use of this drug include: purulent wounds, burns, frostbite, purulent inflammatory processes in soft tissues, including gangrene.

The drug is used in gynecology to prevent complications of artificial termination of pregnancy, mastitis and cervical erosions. In dermatology, Ioddicerin is indicated for dermatitis of microbial and viral etiology, pyoderma, herpes; in venereology - for trichomoniasis and gonorrhea; in proctology - for infiltration stages of paraproctitis.

In otolaryngology, Ioddicerin is prescribed for otitis, sinusitis, and sinusitis, and in dentistry - for gingivitis, periodontitis and other inflammatory diseases.

Release form

Ioddicerin is available as a sterile solution in a bottle and dropper bottles of 25 ml; in bottles of 100 ml and 250 ml. 100 ml of the preparation contains 0.5 g of iodine, 30 g of dimethyl sulfoxide (dimexide) and 69.5 g of glycerin.

Pharmacodynamics

The combination of iodine and dimethyl sulfoxide (dimethyl sulfoxide) ensures the high activity of Ioddicerin against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, other aerobic and anaerobic pathogens, including cocci, salmonella, proteus, clostridia, hemophilic and pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Iodine exhibits its bactericidal properties by influencing the synthesis of bacterial enzymes and destroying their protein structures. Dimexide, being partly a transport component of the drug, is able to freely penetrate the skin and mucous membranes. Getting into the tissues, this substance has a local anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect, which is based on the activation of phagocytes with a simultaneous delay in signals from the peripheral nervous system and blocking the release of histamine into the bloodstream.

In addition, dimethyl sulfoxide ionizes iodine molecules, which leads to an increase in its bactericidal properties directly at the site of purulent inflammation.

Pharmacokinetics

After application to the skin, after 10-20 minutes, Ioddicerin is absorbed by tissue cells and enters the blood plasma. Dimethyl sulfoxide provides 100% bioavailability of the drug. The therapeutic effect of the drug lasts for 8-12 hours.

Elemental iodine is partially bound to proteins, and is partially absorbed by the thyroid gland; dimethyl sulfoxide also binds to proteins in blood plasma and tissues.

The drug is excreted from the body within 28-36 hours (depending on the area of the treated areas) – through the kidneys, lungs, intestines, mammary and sweat glands.

Dosing and administration

Ioddicerin is a topical agent. For small lesions or inflammations, they are treated with the preparation 2-3 times a day, the duration of the procedures is determined by the degree of healing.

In case of extensive lesions, Ioddicerin is used in the form of gauze dressings soaked in the solution (for 25-30 minutes 2-3 times a day). In case of deep lesions, tampons or turundas soaked in the preparation are inserted into the wound (which can be bandaged, covered with polyethylene film or secured with adhesive tape). Aseptic treatment of serous cavities, abscesses, and ulcers with Ioddicerin should be performed by installing drainage only after removal of purulent contents and rinsing.

Overdose

Overdose of Ioddicerin is possible due to its ingestion in a volume of 50 to 100 ml. In this case, a deterioration in well-being, the appearance of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heart rhythm disturbances, etc. are noted.

To eliminate the consequences of an overdose, gastric lavage should be performed with sodium thiosulfate in the form of a 0.5% solution.

Interactions with other drugs

Ioddicerin is completely incompatible with most other antiseptics and disinfectants (hydrogen peroxide, alkalis, mercury compounds and silver preparations).

In an acidic environment, Ioddicerin loses its activity. When this drug is used simultaneously with local agents of organic origin, protein structures may be destroyed. Ioddicerin neutralizes the action of enzyme preparations, but enhances the effect of aminoglycoside and beta-lactam antibiotics, nitroglycerin, insulin, butadion. It also increases the body's sensitivity to general anesthetic drugs.
