Alkaine contains the active ingredient proxymetocain, which is a local anesthetic used to perform ophthalmic procedures.

Among such procedures are the treatment of cataracts, the removal of stitches from the cornea or conjunctiva, and in addition, tonometry or gonioscopy, diagnostic conjunctival scraping and the removal of foreign objects on the cornea.[1]

Pharmacokinetics

Proksimetokain without complications absorbed into the mucous membranes, so it is used as a local anesthetic. With local use, the drug is absorbed into the circulatory system and dissolves inside the plasma at high speed; but the introduction of large portions can lead to negative reactions.
