Wild pansy (Pansy) is an incredibly beautiful flower that is useful for coughs, colds, bronchitis and bronchial asthma.

Sometimes the herb is called Ivan-da-Marya. But it is important to understand that this is a collective name, many flowers of similar colors are called by it. In case of bronchitis, it is recommended to use the wild pansy. Its wild relative, the field pansy, has similar properties.

Pharmacodynamics

It has pronounced anti-inflammatory properties, stimulates the production of bronchial secretions, facilitates expectoration of sputum. As an excellent mucolytic, it is very effective for dry cough at the beginning of the disease.

Dosing and administration

For colds and bronchitis, it is useful to drink violet infusion as tea, half a glass three times a day. For 1 glass of boiling water, take 1 tablespoon of dry grass and leave in a warm place until it cools down.

If you steam the herb in a thermos, you can take twice as much water. The medicine will be ready in 2 hours. You will need to drink it little by little throughout the day.

Flower decoction: As a raw material, use 1 tbsp of dried flowers of the plant. Pour a glass of boiling water over them, put them in a water bath and keep at a low boil for about 2 hours. Strain the composition and take 2 tbsp at intervals of 3 hours. The use of herbs in the form of a decoction is indicated for bronchitis in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.

The infusion is prepared according to the same principle. It should be infused in a warm place for about 4-5 hours (in a thermos - 2 hours).

A simpler recipe for a decoction that doctors can prescribe: For 200 ml of boiling water, take 20 g (2 tbsp.) of finely chopped raw material, boil the mixture for a quarter of an hour and leave to infuse for another 45 minutes. Add boiled water to the strained and squeezed decoction so that the total volume is 200 ml. Take the medicine 3 or 4 times during the day. A single dose is 1 tablespoon.

It is also permissible to use violet grass for bronchitis in children. As an expectorant, prepare an infusion of 200-250 ml of boiling water and 10-12 g of dry plant material. Infuse under a lid until it cools and offer the child to drink the infusion in 3-4 doses.

But as we know, children do not really like herbal decoctions and infusions, but they drink sweet syrups based on them with pleasure for coughs. Such a delicious syrup can also be made from the flowers of the wild pansy. In the evening, pour 1 tbsp of dried flowers with 0.5 liters of boiling water and leave until the morning. After 12 hours, filter the mixture and mix with 0.5 kg of granulated sugar. Boil the syrup for a couple of hours until the desired thickness. You can add the juice of half a lemon to the syrup and boil for another 10 minutes.

The syrup tastes quite good and would be very popular with children, but it is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

And now a couple of useful recipes with field violet:

  • Prepare an alcohol infusion from 1 glass of vodka and 2 tablespoons of dry violet grass. Infuse the mixture for exactly 2 weeks in a dark room, tightly closing the lid. Do not forget to shake the container with the infusion regularly. After the infusion time is over, strain the mixture, folding the gauze in 3-4 layers. Take the medicine for cough 3 times a day. A single dose is 25 drops, which can be diluted in 1 tablespoon of water. The infusion is considered a good remedy for allergic and other types of bronchitis.
  • Powder is also prepared from dry violet grass, thoroughly grinding it in a mortar and sifting. Powder is good for treating children, mixing it with sugar. A single dose of powder is 0.5 grams (on the tip of a teaspoon). Frequency of administration is 4 times a day. Violet powder with sugar is considered an excellent expectorant. For ease of administration, the composition can be slightly moistened with water.
