Vidisic is a medication used for ophthalmological procedures; it is a synthetic tear substance.
When the medicine is instilled into the eye, it forms a protective film barrier on the cornea with a moisturizing effect. The gel can be prescribed to replace the aqueous phase of the tear fluid, which imitates the mucin layer, providing a moisturizing effect on the cornea and conjunctiva. [ 1 ]
The medication prevents the occurrence of epithelial damage and also increases the rate of epithelial regeneration.
Indications Vidisic
It is used in cases of weak production of tear fluid, and also for people with dry keratoconjunctivitis.
Release form
The drug is produced in the form of an eye gel - inside 10 g tubes; there is 1 such tube in a pack.
Pharmacodynamics
The basis of the drug is a hydrophilic polymer of high molecular weight type; its osmolality and pH indicators are similar to the characteristics of the natural tear film. The effect of the gel allows it to retain liquid and form a moist transparent film on the ocular surface. [ 2 ]
Pharmacokinetics
The medication does not penetrate the eye and does not accumulate inside the body tissues.
This gel can remain on the ocular surface for a maximum of 1.5 hours.
Dosing and administration
The medicine is instilled 1 drop into each eye (instillation is performed into the lower conjunctival sac). The gel should be used 3-5 times a day. A more precise frequency of administration is selected taking into account the intensity of the symptoms of the disease. The gel is instilled half an hour before bedtime. The therapy cycle can last for a long time.
In people with dry keratoconjunctivitis, Vidisik is used in fairly long courses, so their condition should be monitored by a doctor who will adjust the dosage if necessary.
- Application for children
There is no information regarding the safety of using the gel in pediatrics, which is why it is not prescribed to children.
Use Vidisic during pregnancy
Vidisik can be used during breastfeeding or pregnancy, but it can only be prescribed by a medical specialist who has previously assessed the benefits of using the gel and the likelihood of risks.
Contraindications
Contraindicated for use in cases of severe personal intolerance to the components of the drug.
Side effects Vidisic
Possible side effects of the medication include some allergic reactions.
Since the drug contains the preservative cetrimide, it can sometimes cause irritation or burning in the eye area, as well as a sensation of a foreign object in them.
In addition, temporary visual blurring is possible.
Interactions with other drugs
When using additional local treatment together with Vidisik, it is necessary to maintain a minimum 5-minute break between the administration of medications. In this case, Vidisik should be administered last.
Storage conditions
The video must be stored at temperatures in the range of 2-30°C.
Shelf life
