Vibrocil is a decongestant medication; it is a vasoconstrictor substance that acts on the nasal mucosa. It has a complex composition (dimetindene, which is an antagonist of H1 endings, and also a sympathomimetic phenylephrine).

The drug has a long and very rapid vasoconstrictor effect on the venous bed of the nasal mucosa with the paranasal sinuses. Weakens disease-causing exudation and improves the activity of the ciliated epithelium. The combination with dimethindene causes the development of antiallergic effects. [1]

Vibrocil is a local remedy, therefore its therapeutic activity is not determined by the blood level of the active elements.

Pharmacodynamics

Phenylephrine is an amine sympathomimetic. It is used in the form of a nasal decongestant, which has a moderate vasoconstrictor effect, and in addition, it selectively stimulates the activity of α1-adrenergic endings inside the venous cavernous tissues of the nasal mucosa. [2]As a result, the swelling of the nasal mucosa with the paranasal sinuses disappears quickly and for a long time. [3]

Dimetindene is a substance with an antagonistic effect on the H1-endings of histamine; has anti-allergic properties. Effective when administered in small portions and tolerated without complications. [4]

Pharmacokinetics

In the case of unintentional intake of drugs inside, there is a decrease in the level of bioavailability of phenylephrine - about 38%. This is due to metabolic processes during the 1st intrahepatic and intestinal passage. The half-life is approximately 2.5 hours.

The systemic indicators of the bioavailability of dimethindene after oral administration of the solution are approximately 70%; half-life is approximately 6 hours.

Dosing and administration

Drops of drugs for infants up to 12 months of age are injected in 1 drop into each of the nostrils, 3-4 times a day. At the age of 1-6 years - 1-2 drops, 3-4 times a day. For persons over the age of 6, use 3-4 drops, 3-4 times a day.
