Venogepanol is an angioprotector that is used to eliminate varicose veins.
Indications Venogepanol
It is used in the following situations:
- therapy or prevention of varicose veins (this also includes cases after surgery);
- thrombophlebitis with thrombosis;
- closed injuries (including sports injuries), which result in sprains or hematomas;
- elimination of infiltrates;
- treatment of cicatricial seals and external inflammations in which there is no violation of the integrity of the skin surface;
- tendovaginitis.
Release form
It is produced in gel form, in tubes with a capacity of 40 g. The box contains 1 tube of gel.
Pharmacodynamics
Venogepanol is a drug with anti-edematous and antithrombotic properties, as well as anti-inflammatory effects. It is used for external application.
One of the components of the drug, heparin, has a local anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous, and antithrombotic effect.
The element venorutinol has angioprotective and venotonic properties, helps to strengthen capillary membranes and increases their tone (with the participation of bioflavonoids), and in addition, improves tissue trophism with microcirculation processes.
The component dexpanthenol promotes stimulation of tissue epithelialization and granulation. Inside the body, it is converted into an active metabolic product – calcium pantothenate, which is involved in the processes of binding coenzyme A.
Dosing and administration
The medicine is used externally. Adults should apply it to the affected areas (the skin in this area should be intact) 1-3 times a day.
To eliminate vein diseases, you should use bandages under which the gel is applied.
At the stage of treatment of varicose ulcers, the area around the ulcerous lesion should be treated with gel - make a ring approximately 4 cm wide. Applying the medicine directly to the ulcer is prohibited.
The duration of therapy is selected for each patient individually (this is done by the attending physician), taking into account the course of the pathology and the clinical picture.
In the case of therapy for various injuries (including sports injuries), against the background of which hematomas are observed, the duration of the course reaches 5-7 days.

Use Venogepanol during pregnancy
Venogepanol is prohibited for use by pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Contraindications
Main contraindications:
- the presence of intolerance to the active ingredients and other components of the drug;
- hemorrhagic diathesis, hemophilia, severe thrombocytopenia and Werlhof's disease;
- ulcerative-necrotic lesions formed at the site of thrombophlebitis;
- the presence of bleeding or a tendency to develop it;
- violations of the integrity of the skin that have a traumatic origin, as well as wounds of an open or infected nature.
Side effects Venogepanol
Application of the gel may cause side effects on the skin surface, subcutaneous layer and immune system. These include local manifestations of high sensitivity, such as irritation, itching, burning, hyperemia, rash and swelling of the skin. Small pustules may appear, as well as blisters or bubbles, and dermatitis (sometimes its contact form), urticaria, Quincke's edema, eczema or hemorrhages may also develop. Treatment of large areas of skin may cause general negative symptoms, but they often disappear on their own after discontinuing the drug.
If any negative effects occur, you should consult your doctor regarding further use of the medication.
Overdose
If the drug is used as directed, the risk of intoxication is extremely low. When treating large areas of skin (due to the increased risk of systemic absorption of the drug), hemorrhagic complications (such as bleeding of varying severity) may occur. Accidental ingestion of the gel may result in vomiting with nausea.
If there is slight bleeding, it is necessary to reduce the dosage or temporarily stop using the medication. In case of severe bleeding, it will be necessary to administer intravenously a 1% solution of protamine sulfate. In the absence of information on the level of heparin in the blood, a maximum of 1 ml of this solution is allowed to be administered in a single portion.
In case of accidental ingestion of the drug, vomiting should be induced and gastric lavage should be performed. If necessary, peritoneal dialysis should be performed. In addition, symptomatic measures should be taken.
Interactions with other drugs
When combined with parenteral injection of nitroglycerin or when using the drug together with tetracycline or thyroxine and ergot alkaloids, as well as nicotine or antihistamines, a decrease in the effectiveness of Venogepanol may be observed.
The drug potentiates the effect of vitamin C on the structure and strength of vascular membranes.
Combination with ketorolac, phenylbutazone or dextran increases the risk of bleeding.
Oral anticoagulants (such as dicoumarin, warfarin or clopidogrel) when combined with the drug can increase PT values.
Combination with venotonic medications or NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen, diclofenac or indomethacin) leads to potentiation of the properties of the gel.
Iloprost with dipyridamole enhances the anticoagulant effect of heparin, which is the active element of the gel.
Combination with aliskiren or ACE inhibitors may lead to the development of hyperglycemia.
Concomitant use with drugs containing sulindac may cause peripheral neuropathy.
The component of Venogepanol, dexpanthenol, is capable of potentiating the activity of depolarizing muscle relaxants (such as decamethonium bromide or suxamethonium chloride), and in addition to this, reducing the effectiveness of non-depolarizing muscle relaxants (including tubocurarine chloride). This is due to the fact that it has the ability to stimulate the binding of acetylcholine.
