The medicinal product Uralit-U is intended for the treatment of urological diseases.
Indications Uralit-U
Uralit-U is used in the following cases:
- to prevent stone formation in the urinary system;
- for the treatment of uric acid stone formation, uraturia, cystine stone formation and cystinuria;
- if it is necessary to change the reaction of the urine fluid to the alkaline side (during chemotherapy, gout, porphyria).
Release form
Uralit-U is produced in granulated form for internal use. Granules are packed in 280 g bottles. Each package contains a special dosing spoon, which holds 1 dose - 2.5 g of the drug.
The composition of Uralit-U granules is represented by hexapotassium, hexasodium, trihydrocitrate complex. Among the auxiliary ingredients are: lemon oil, coloring agent.
Pharmacodynamics
Uralit-U promotes alkalization of urine with metabolism of the acid component. This leads to increased excretion of citrate and decreased excretion of calcium, as a result of which the activity of calcium oxalate decreases.
Citrate ion serves as a powerful inhibitory agent in the formation and adhesion of calcium crystals.

Pharmacokinetics
Active substances undergo almost complete metabolic breakdown in the body.
After taking a dose of the medicine Uralit-U, the excretion of sodium and potassium continues for 1-2 days. With a long course of therapy, the acid-base indicators in the body are normalized, while the accumulation of sodium and potassium does not occur.
Dosing and administration
The granules of the medicine Uralit-U are intended for oral administration. They must first be dissolved in 200 ml of liquid.
The dosage is determined individually, depending on the acidity of the urine.
- To remove uric acid stones and prevent recurrent stone formation, take 4 doses (10 g of the drug) per day, in three doses (1 dose in the morning, 1 dose at lunchtime, 2 doses at night). Uralit-U should be taken after meals. In some cases, the dosage may be increased or decreased in the evening by ½ a dose.
- In order to prevent recurrent calcium stone formation, the daily dose of the drug may be 2-3 doses (5-7.5 g of the drug) at one time at night. The dosage may be changed depending on the acidity of the urine.
The duration of treatment with Uralit-U is from one to six months.
Use Uralit-U during pregnancy
Little information is provided on the use of Uralit-U by pregnant patients. Theoretically, the drug can be used, but only under the supervision of a physician and with strict adherence to the dosage.
Contraindications
Before starting treatment with Uralit-U, you should read the list of contraindications:
- diagnosed renal failure with acute or chronic course;
- severe form of metabolic alkalosis;
- chronic infectious lesions of the urinary system, which are caused by the action of microbes capable of breaking down urea;
- forced strict dietary nutrition with the exclusion of salt;
- children under 12 years of age;
- dehydration;
- tendency to allergic reactions.

Overdose
During treatment with Uralit-U, it is necessary to strictly control the acidity of the urine environment. Otherwise, an overdose develops, which quickly leads to phosphate crystallization and metabolic alkalosis. This condition is considered extremely undesirable, so the dose is carefully planned and adjusted.
Interactions with other drugs
When the extracellular potassium level increases, the effect of cardiac glycosides is weakened. A decrease in this level will enhance their antiarrhythmic effect.
A decrease in renal excretion of potassium can occur under the influence of potassium-sparing diuretics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, peripheral analgesics, aldosterone antagonists, and ACE inhibitors.
You should not take Uralit-U and aluminum-containing drugs at the same time. The time interval between taking these medications should be at least 2 hours.
