Unidox Solutab is an antibiotic of the tetracycline group.
Indications Unidox solutab
Infectious and inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract: pharyngitis, tracheitis, pneumonia, sinusitis.
Urogenital infections: cystitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, endometritis, gonorrhea.
Gastrointestinal infections: cholera, cholecystitis, cholangitis.
Severe acne, anthrax, whooping cough, sepsis, mumps. For malaria prevention before traveling to areas with an epidemic.
Release form
10 tablets in a blister.
Pharmacodynamics
Unidox Solutab is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that inhibits the process of protein synthesis in bacteria. It is effective against streptococci, treponema, chlamydia, ureaplasma, mycoplasma, brucella, plasmodium and other microorganisms.
Pharmacokinetics
Food intake has almost no effect on the absorption of Unidox Solutab. The maximum concentration is reached after 2 hours. The active substance penetrates tissues and organs well, but poorly into the cerebrospinal fluid. It is easily detected in the liver, lungs, teeth, eyes, synovial fluid, and accumulates in dentin. It is excreted by the kidneys and eliminated by the intestines.
Dosing and administration
Taken orally, swallow the tablet whole and wash it down with a glass of water. Treatment lasts 5-10 days.
For gonorrhea - 100 mg twice a day for 7 days. For primary syphilis - 100 mg twice a day for 14 days, for secondary - the same dosage, but the course of treatment is extended to 28 days.
For chlamydia, urethritis caused by ureaplasma - 100 mg 2 times a day for 7 days.
For acne – 100 mg per day for 9 weeks.
Malaria prevention – 100 mg once a day 1 day before the trip and 100 mg every day during the trip.
Treatment of leptospirosis – 100 mg 2 times a day for 7 days. Prevention – 200 mg once a week during the entire stay in the epidemic area.
Prevention of infections during abortion in a hospital setting: 100 mg one hour before surgery.
In case of liver damage, the dose is reduced, otherwise there is a risk of accumulation of the drug in the body.
Use Unidox solutab during pregnancy
Unidox Solutab is contraindicated during pregnancy.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, severe liver or kidney dysfunction, porphyria, pregnancy, children under 9 years of age.
Side effects Unidox solutab
Anorexia, vomiting, diarrhea, urticaria, pericarditis, neutropenia, intracranial pressure disorder, thrush, proctitis, stomatitis.
Diarrhea associated with antibiotics is the most common side effect. Vaginal infections are also possible in women.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose of Unidox Solutab are vomiting and jaundice. It is recommended to immediately wash the stomach, drink activated carbon. Hemodialysis is ineffective.
Interactions with other drugs
Antacids with magnesium and iron reduce the absorption of Unidox Solutab, the interval between taking these drugs should be at least 2 hours. Tetracycline reduces the effectiveness of penicillin. Increases the frequency of acyclic bleeding when taking COCs. Ethanol and barbiturates reduce the concentration of the drug in the blood. Simultaneous use with retinol increases intracranial pressure. Do not take multivitamins, antacids and laxatives earlier than 2 hours before and 2 hours after taking the drug. Tetracycline antibiotics increase the sensitivity of the skin to ultraviolet light. The absorption of Unidox Solutab is impaired if you simultaneously take drugs with calcium and zinc. Tell your doctor if you have serious liver problems - the usual dose of the drug in this case can be extremely toxic for you, it should be reduced or another antibiotic should be prescribed. It should be remembered that all tetracycline antibiotics are very toxic, so they have strict indications.

Storage conditions
At room temperature in a dry place, inaccessible to children. Unused remainder of the drug should be thrown away after the expiration date. After the expiration date, the drug causes a syndrome dangerous for the kidneys.
Special instructions
Tetracycline antibiotics have a negative effect on sperm function. This fact was proven by researchers at the University of Nevada. Therefore, in no case should you self-medicate or plan a pregnancy if your spouse has recently taken doxycycline. However, we cannot imagine treating serious diseases caused by bacterial flora today without antibiotics. Unidox Solutab may be prescribed for complicated purulent tonsillitis, which can cause heart damage, bladder and kidney diseases, and pneumonia. Unidox Solutab is available only in tablets. Tetracyclines are also prescribed in the form of injections, which are quite painful. Since tetracycline compounds accumulate in dentin and cause tooth decay, Unidox Solutab is not intended for treatment in childhood.
Antibiotics cannot cure a cold! That is why you can see the pharmacist's eyes fill with blood when you ask for "some antibiotic for the throat". Because the cause of a cold in most cases is viruses - more advanced organisms against which antibiotics do not work, no matter how super-new and effective against bacteria they are! Colds and bronchitis are extremely rarely of bacterial origin. It is very difficult to distinguish when a virus is to blame for the disease, and when - bacterial flora. Bacterial origin is typical for diseases of the bladder, sinusitis, otitis.
Do not stop taking the antibiotics prescribed to you until the end of the course. The remaining bacteria can grow and complicate the course of the disease. Antibiotics for the prevention of some diseases can also be taken only on the advice of a doctor. For example, prophylaxis is carried out for conscripts, because people in the army suffer from respiratory infections more often. Unidox Solutab is not taken with alcohol. The reason for mistrust of antibiotics is many years of experience in their irrational use. In about 55% of all cases of antibiotic prescription, it is unjustified! Due to the fact that bacteria have mutated due to the uncontrolled use of antibiotics, it is necessary to release more and more new forms of them. Expensive antibiotics that are prescribed when all known antibiotics are powerless are called reserve antibiotics. Their price is artificially inflated so that everyone can’t buy them. If such widespread treatment with antibiotics is not stopped, by about 2020 all types of antibiotics will cease to act on microbes due to their high adaptive capacity.
Antibiotics are needed only in difficult situations when the body itself cannot cope. If you abuse the prescription of antibiotics, beneficial bacteria will stop preventing harmful bacteria from multiplying. An allergy may develop not only to the antibiotic that was constantly prescribed, and therefore it became an antigen for immune cells, but also to the entire group of antibiotics to which it belongs. In this case, it becomes much more difficult to select adequate treatment. Moreover, the immune system begins to react incorrectly to normal antigens.
An antibiotic will not help you with a cough because it can be caused by viruses or asthma, and bacterial causes of cough are the last. Self-medication with antibiotics is the cause of the spread of infections. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should be especially careful when choosing an antibiotic. Tetracycline and levomycetin are prohibited for children.
There are cases of medical error, when a pediatrician, for example, misses the onset of pneumonia. From such stories, mothers conclude that since doctors don’t know anything anyway, it would be a good idea to take an antibiotic “just in case.” This is fundamentally wrong. But even with such stubborn patients, although it is difficult, you have to work when they come with the consequences of self-medication. Before the invention of penicillin, 60% of patients with pneumonia died. Of course, an antibiotic can be a salvation, but only if there are indications. If a new strain of microbes is formed, it requires the development of a new generation of antibiotics with different properties.
The first three days of high temperature with ARVI are due to the virus. But if it is observed further, it almost always means bacterial complications. Stay in bed and take antiviral drugs - arbidol, amixin. Drink tea with honey and linden. Sometimes there is no temperature with complications. In any case, if severe weakness persists for a long time after ARVI, this should cause concern.
Diseases such as rhinitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis and laryngitis, which occur without complications, are not treated with antibiotics. Furunculosis, herpes, chronic diarrhea, HIV - all this weakens the immune system, and in these cases, antibiotics are certainly needed.
Doctors try to prescribe antibiotics orally, rather than in the form of injections, whenever possible. Remember the signs of an acute bacterial infection that requires antibiotics: persistent fever, sharply increased ESR in a blood test, and after improvement - progression of the disease. Do not beg your doctor to prescribe you an antibiotic. In developed countries, it is normal to conduct a bacterial culture if the course of the disease allows you to wait for its results. Waiting for the results may take about a week, but the antibiotic prescription will be very accurate.
Remember that immunity still plays a primary role in fighting infection. Antibiotics are only an auxiliary means. There is no need to bring down the temperature to 39C, support the body with vitamins.
Sometimes patients with a temperature of 40C are brought to the hospital because all possible antibiotics have already been used. Unfortunately, the supply of antibiotics is not endless, and resistance to them develops very quickly.
An irresponsible attitude to taking antibiotics can return us to the pre-antibiotic era. This means that sore throat can again cause death. 8 million children in the world under 5 die from infections. The level of resistance to pneumonia reaches a catastrophic figure - 70%. In just 30 years, all microbes can become resistant to all existing drugs, and then even a scratch can cause death. Pharmacology is looking for a way out of this difficult situation. Bacteria still remain the most numerous population of organisms.
Shelf life
The shelf life of Unidox Solutab is 5 years.
