Ugricil (synonyms - Dalacin T, Clindatop) belongs to the pharmacotherapeutic group of antimicrobial dermatological drugs.

Indications Ugricil

The drug is prescribed by dermatologists for acne - multiple skin rashes caused by excessive secretion of sebum, a decrease in its bactericidal protection and the development of focal inflammation of the skin (due to the proliferation of microbes and bacteria).

Release form

Release form: 1% gel for topical use (in tubes of 15 or 30 g).

Pharmacodynamics

The active substance of the drug Ugricil is the antibiotic clindamycin (clindamycin) - a semi-synthetic analogue of lincomycin. By binding to the structures of the matrix RNA of bacterial ribosomes (nucleotide subunit 23S), clindamycin inhibits the formation of proteins in the cells of aerobic gram-positive cocci Staphylococcus aur., Staphylococcus epid., Streptococcus spp., as well as anaerobic gram-positive bacteria Propionibacterium acnes, Eubacterium, Actinomyces spp. and others.

As a result, bacteria and cocci die (bactericidal effect) or reduce growth activity (bacteriostatic effect), which depends not only on the specific type of pathogenic microorganisms, but also on the dose of the drug.

In addition, the use of Ugricil helps to significantly reduce the amount of sebum, which helps to clear the skin of acne. Apparently, the effect of the antibiotic is enhanced by the antiseptic properties of the preservative nipagin (methyl ester of para-hydroxybenzoic acid), which is included in the composition of this drug as an auxiliary substance.

Pharmacokinetics

When Ugricil gel is applied to the skin, the antibiotic accumulates in the sebaceous-horny plugs in the ducts of the sebaceous glands (comedones). The gel may be absorbed by the skin. The bioavailability of clindamycin is about 3%, but this is quite enough to suppress the main causative agent of acne - the anaerobic gram-positive bacterium Propionibacterium аcnes.

Dosing and administration

Ugricil gel should be applied to skin areas with rashes: no more than 1-2 g at a time, twice a day. The skin must be clean and dry. Avoid getting the gel in the eyes and on the mucous membranes. The duration of use is determined by the doctor.

Use Ugricil during pregnancy

Given the lack of studies on the use of this drug by pregnant women, the use of Ugricil during pregnancy, as well as during breastfeeding, is possible only for strict medical indications and under the supervision of the attending physician. And when using Ugricil during lactation, breastfeeding should be suspended.

Contraindications

This drug has the following contraindications: age under 12 years; individual hypersensitivity to the antibiotics clindamycin and lincomycin; inflammation of the mucous membrane of the colon (ulcerative colitis); history of colitis associated with taking antibiotics.

Side effects Ugricil

Possible side effects of this drug include skin irritation, redness, burning and itching at the site of application, as well as dryness and peeling of the skin.

Overdose

Despite the local use of the gel, its overdose can lead to intestinal problems - colitis and diarrhea. In such a situation, the use of Ugricil should be discontinued.

Interactions with other drugs

Clindamycin in the gel Ugricil interacts with other drugs, namely: it is incompatible with erythromycin, ampicillin, sedatives of the barbiturate group, calcium gluconate, magnesium sulfate and solutions of B vitamins; it can enhance the effect of muscle relaxants and opioid painkillers.

It is not recommended to use Ugricil simultaneously with taking antidiarrheal medications, as this may lead to disruption of normal intestinal peristalsis.
