Treatment of stomatitis during pregnancy is aimed at relieving the woman of unpleasant sensations in the oral cavity. The first thing to do is to stop the inflammatory process so that it does not harm the development of the baby.

During pregnancy, stomatitis should be treated in any case, and treated in such a way that this treatment does not affect the condition of the fetus. Treatment of stomatitis during pregnancy should be carried out only under the supervision of a doctor who personally diagnosed the disease and prescribed an individual treatment course.

Usually, ulcerative lesions on the oral mucosa are treated with antibacterial drugs in combination with soda-based mouthwashes. Such treatment removes the root causes of the disease and heals the wounds. However, this panacea is suitable only in the case of bacterial stomatitis. For the treatment of post-traumatic stomatitis, the best option for salvation and treatment will be local antibacterial drugs. Antibacterial drugs help cure the disease and prevent relapse. It is known that antibacterial drugs reduce pain in the affected areas and promote wound healing. For example, mouthwashes containing chlorhexidine bigluconate have such an effect. With constant use of the product during stomatitis three times a day, the disease will go away faster. However, it should be used carefully, since it leaves stains on the teeth and forms "white" fillings. Such consequences of use disappear as the patient stops using the drug.

If stomatitis during pregnancy is caused by viruses, then antiviral drugs will help to cope with it - oxolinic, bonafton, interferon, tebrofen ointments. However, they should be used only after consulting with your doctor.

If stomatitis developed as a result of an allergy to something, then antihistamines are most often prescribed as treatment. Medicines are prescribed depending on the allergen.

If the pain from stomatitis during pregnancy is very strong and almost impossible to bear, anesthetic drugs are prescribed - benzocaine, trimecaine, lidocaine or Kalanchoe juice. In some ointments and pastes that are suitable for the treatment of stomatitis, anesthetics are already included in the composition of the products. However, in order to avoid allergies and other unpleasant consequences, before using drugs containing anesthetics, it is still necessary to read the instructions and find out the method and time of treatment.

In order for stomatitis ulcers to heal faster, it is necessary to get rid of the bacterial plaque that covers the affected areas. To remove such plaque, products containing hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide are used.

To restore the epithelium damaged by stomatitis, there is a whole group of herbal preparations - sea buckthorn or rosehip oil, carotolin, vinylin and propolis ointment.

In the treatment of stomatitis, herbal preparations are also often used - sage, chamomile, St. John's wort, oak bark, calendula, etc. However, before using it, you should still consult a doctor who will tell you whether you need to use this plant for treatment.

To strengthen the immune system, general strengthening drugs such as Immudon are also prescribed. Multivitamins are also prescribed, which saturate the body with vitamins C and B.

Rinsing the mouth significantly reduces the period of the disease. For example, a solution of 1 teaspoon of soda and a glass of boiled water or half a glass of boiled cooled water and a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide helps to disinfect the oral cavity.

You can also rinse your mouth with aloe or Kalanchoe juice or freshly squeezed raw carrot juice in a 1:1 ratio, applying a gruel of raw potatoes to the wounds after rinsing.

In 3-5 days, you can get rid of mouth ulcers with the help of vitamin B12 or fucorcin, which are applied directly to the affected areas of the mucous membrane.

Remember that any medication treatment should first be discussed with a doctor, and it is he who must determine and prescribe the most effective and safe set of medications and therapeutic methods. Self-medication with medications can negatively affect your child.

It is very important to carefully monitor oral hygiene both during treatment and in everyday life. You need to brush your teeth twice a day, it is advisable to choose toothpaste, various mouthwashes and other oral hygiene products that do not contain sodium lauryl sulfates - foaming elements of the chemical set of cleaning and washing agents. Many medical studies prove that sodium lauryl sulfate has a negative effect on the oral organs and in some cases contributes to the appearance and recurrence of stomatitis. According to reviews received from people who have had stomatitis and began to use lauryl sulfate-free oral hygiene products, after using more gentle products, stomatitis practically ceased to recur and the pain when it appeared became much less unpleasant.

There are also tips from traditional medicine experts to help cope with stomatitis during pregnancy. It is worth rinsing your mouth with clean hot water, especially after eating. You can chew aloe leaves, and lubricate the ulcerated areas of the oral mucosa with aloe or Kalanchoe juice. Propolis tincture is quite helpful in coping with the disease at an early stage. In order for propolis to be effective, you must first disinfect the wounds with hydrogen peroxide, dry them with a stream of warm air, and then drip a 50% propolis solution with a pipette and dry the wound until a propolis film forms on it. One of the treatment recipes is to mix a gruel of 3 cloves of garlic with a dessert spoon of yogurt and spread it over the surface of the mucosa. Repeat the procedure three times a day, regardless of the burning sensation.

You can also prepare healing mouthwash solutions based on medicinal plants, for example:

  • 30-40 drops of St. John's wort alcohol tincture per half a glass of water, rinse your mouth several times a day, and take an additional 40-50 drops of the tincture orally;
  • Boil 1 tablespoon of flat-leaved eryngo in a glass of water, leave for an hour, strain, rinse your mouth several times a day;
  • Infuse 15-20 g of chamomile flowers in a glass of water, add a few drops of boric acid and rinse your mouth 3-4 times a day;
  • Boil 1 tablespoon of calendula inflorescences in a glass of boiling water, strain, rinse your mouth throughout the day;
  • Pour a glass of water over a teaspoon of finely chopped cinquefoil root, leave for 5 hours, then boil and rinse your mouth throughout the day.
