Indications Obradex

Release form

Pharmacodynamics
Obradex contains the active ingredients: tobramycin sulfate and dexamethasone, as well as excipients: benzalkonium chloride (antiseptic), disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate (food antioxidant E386), sodium dihydrogen phosphate (food stabilizer E339), sodium metabisulfate (preservative E-223), sodium chloride, distilled water.
The aminoglycoside antibiotic Tobramycin is active against gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria; it acts on the rRNA of the ribosomes of microbial cells and blocks the process of protein synthesis in them, which leads to the death of bacteria. Dexamethasone is a glucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and desensitizing properties; it reduces the activity of the intracellular enzyme phospholipase A2, which prevents the release of inflammatory mediators. Due to this, an anti-edematous effect is achieved and the permeability of capillaries in the lesion is normalized.
Dosing and administration
Obradex - instillation into the conjunctival sac. A single dose for an adult is 1-2 drops (in one eye). It is recommended to instill the eyes every 5 hours; in severe cases - every 1-2 hours. The maximum duration of use of Obradex is 7 days.
Before using this medication, hard contact lenses should be removed (and not put back on earlier than 20 minutes after instillation); the use of soft lenses should be discontinued until the end of treatment.
