It is a syrup that is sold complete with a measuring cup. The syrup is transparent in color, and may have a slightly yellowish tint. It has a pleasant raspberry smell, which children really like. It is due to these properties of the drug (pleasant aroma and taste) that children drink this syrup with pleasure. They stabilize the drug, making it stable and effective.
Pharmacodynamics
The pharmacological properties of the drug are known. The difference is that ambroxol does not contain a methyl group, but also contains a hydroxyl group. The main effects of the drug are secretomotor, secretolytic and expectorant effects on the respiratory tract.
As shown by the results of preclinical studies, the essence of the action of ambroxol is that it stimulates serous cells, increasing their activity. Sputum becomes more liquid. This helps to clear the respiratory tract, normalize their patency, eliminate the inflammatory and infectious process. As a result, secretory and ciliated cells are activated. The glandular epithelium is activated, which helps to improve the protective properties of the mucous membranes of the bronchi and lungs. It is worth noting that surfactant plays a special role, the amount of which increases sharply. In this case, there is a direct effect on the alveoli, alveolar cells and pneumocytes. This increases the amount and viscosity of sputum, improves mucociliary transport.
Also of particular interest is the ability of ambroxol to have an antioxidant effect on the body. Ambroxol can be used together with antibiotics, as a result of which the effect of the drugs is mutually enhanced.

Pharmacokinetics
The drug's effect begins 30 minutes after administration. The duration of action is approximately 6-12 hours, that is, this drug can be classified as a prolonged-action drug.
It was concluded that the duration of action is on average 8 hours, and is determined by the state of the immune system, the severity of the disease, the duration of the disease, and the general level of resistance of the body. The main action is secretomotor, secretolytic. It is also worth noting the expectorant effect.
The drug is characterized by absolute bioavailability. Its main mass accumulates in the lung tissue. After approximately 30-40 minutes, the bioavailability of the drug begins to gradually decrease. Due to the decrease in bioavailability, gradual excretion by the kidneys occurs.
Ambroxol has the ability to bind to plasma proteins (approximately 85%, and sometimes can reach even 90%). A distinctive feature is the ability to penetrate the walls of blood vessels, accumulate in the cerebrospinal fluid. The drug is excreted in approximately 22 hours. Approximately 90% is excreted from the body through the kidneys. Therefore, the drug should be taken with caution by patients who suffer from various kidney diseases. Such intensive excretion creates a strong burden on the body.
It is worth noting that the drug is best prescribed for chronic pathologies, since it is excreted from the body for quite a long time, while providing maximum therapeutic effect.
Dosing and administration
Self-medication with this remedy for more than 3 days is contraindicated. It is necessary to take into account that phlegm liquefaction occurs precisely under the condition of the presence of a sufficient amount of incoherent moisture in the body.
The drug can be taken even by patients under 2 years of age. Thus, patients under 2 years of age are recommended to take the drug in half a measuring cup. At the age of 2 to 6 years, the dosage can be increased sharply. Thus, it is already possible to take one measuring cup up to 3-4 times a day. From 6 to 12 years, it is recommended to take a cup 4-5 times a day.
Side effects Ambrobene syrup
Side effects are manifested mainly in the form of allergic reactions. People who have a tendency to delayed types of allergic reactions develop angioedema, skin rash, itching, burning, shortness of breath. With a tendency to immediate allergic reactions, an allergic reaction of the anaphylaxis type may develop. Quincke's edema is often observed.
As the cough intensifies, the rate of sputum removal from the body also increases, which helps to reduce sputum, inflammation and infection. Severe skin diseases can develop in patients suffering from Stevens-Johnson syndrome. If the structure and functions of the skin change, you should immediately inform your doctor.
Overdose
Overdose is accompanied by symptoms of intoxication, which are quite weakly expressed. Treatment consists of providing intensive therapy. But such measures are resorted to in the case of a sharp, acute overdose, which is accompanied by severe symptoms of poisoning. In general, treatment is mainly symptomatic.
As special instructions, the instructions state that the drug should not be taken together with antitussives. This is due to the fact that it increases cough, while antitussives, on the contrary, reduce it. This can lead to congestion in the bronchopulmonary system. Spasm, cramp, and respiratory dysfunction may also occur. Therefore, any cough syrup for children should be taken only after prior consultation with a doctor.
