Silibor has hepatoprotective and antioxidant effects; along with this, it stimulates protein binding and stabilizes phospholipid metabolism.

The hepatoprotective effect develops due to the membrane stabilizing and antioxidant effects of the drug. Metabolism within hepatocytes improves with stabilization of phospholipid metabolic processes and stimulation of the binding of functional and structural proteins, RNA and glycogen. [1]

Due to the protection from the passage of hepatotoxic elements into the hepatocytes, the rate of liver recovery is increased.

Indications Silibor

It is used for such violations:

  • chronic hepatitis and hepatic cirrhosis of various nature (combined treatment);
  • steatohepatosis;
  • prevention of the likelihood of a negative external effect of hepatotoxic components or medications used for a long time that impair liver function.

Release form

The release is made in tablets, inside the cell plates - 10 (3 or 8 plates inside the box) or 25 pieces (1 plate inside the pack).

Pharmacokinetics

The absorption of the substance from the gastrointestinal tract is carried out at a low speed; the half-absorption term is approximately 130 minutes.

Metabolic processes take place inside the liver, with the help of conjugation. About 40% of the silymarin secreted with bile moves into the portal-biliary circle of bile acid circulation.

Excretion is mainly carried out with bile - in the form of glucuronides with sulfates; the remainder is excreted in the urine. It does not accumulate inside tissues and the body. The half-life of a drug is about 6 hours.

Dosing and administration

Silibor is taken before meals; tablets do not need to be chewed - they are swallowed with plain water.

Adolescents over the age of 12 and adults need 0.21 g of drugs for 3 uses during the day.

For persons with diseases of severe intensity, it is possible, if necessary, to increase the daily portion to 0.42 g for 3 injections.

The age group 6-9 years old should be used 1 time per day for 70 mg of drugs, and for people aged 9-12 years old - 0.14 g for 2 uses.

Therapy often lasts about 1 month, but sometimes the treating doctor may extend it for up to 3 months. Repetition of the treatment course is allowed after 1-2 months.

As a prophylactic substance, Silibor is prescribed in a portion of 70 mg, taken 1-2 times per day. The duration of such a cycle is no more than 1 month.

  • Application for children

Cannot be administered to persons under 6 years of age.

Use Silibor during pregnancy

Reception of Silibor can be performed only in situations where the benefit for the woman is more likely than the negative effect on the fetus. In this case, therapy should be carried out under medical supervision, because there may be a potentiation of diuresis associated with the fact that flavonoids have a weak diuretic effect.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated to prescribe to people with intolerance to the active and additional elements of the drug.
