Indications Cerdolecta
Used for schizophrenia. It is prohibited to use in emergency situations - to stop disorders.
Release form
It is produced in the form of tablets with a volume of 4, 12, and also 16 or 20 mg.
Pharmacodynamics
The drug is an atypical neuroleptic that selectively affects the structures of the visceral brain. The antipsychotic effect develops due to blocking 5HT2-endings of serotonin and central D2-endings of dopamine (the degree of effect is the same). Suppresses productive manifestations of the disease (delirium, a feeling of aggression or psychotic agitation, as well as behavioral disorders, hallucinations and thinking disorders).
Moderate adrenolytic effect leads to the development of antihypertensive reactions. The drug has no effect on muscarinic and histamine endings, because it does not have a sedative or anticholinergic effect. At the same time, it does not affect prolactin levels - in people who took Serdolect for a long time (12+ months), these values remained within normal limits.
Pharmacokinetics
After oral administration, it is well absorbed, reaching blood values of Cmax after 10 hours. Food intake does not affect the absorption processes of the drug.
The degree of synthesis with blood protein is 99%. The drug passes through the BBB and undergoes metabolic processes inside the liver (with the participation of CYP2D6 and CYP3A isoenzymes). Metabolic products do not have a neuroleptic effect.
The half-life is no more than 3 days. The main part of the drug is excreted with feces, and the remainder - with urine.
Dosing and administration
Take orally, once a day. The initial dose is 4 mg, and then it is increased by the same 4 mg at 5-day intervals. Often, the optimal daily dose is within 12-20 mg of the substance. The dose should be selected only by a doctor, in a hospital. In extreme cases, the maximum dosage of 24 mg can be used.
For older people, the dose should be increased slowly, using titration. Given the possible development of cardiotoxicity, ECG testing is required.

Use Cerdolecta during pregnancy
The medication should not be used during pregnancy.
Contraindications
Main contraindications:
- arrhythmia;
- hypokalemia or -magnesemia;
- a disease affecting the cardiovascular system and having a severe degree of expression;
- cardiac insufficiency;
- hypertrophy in the myocardial region;
- prolongation of QT syndrome (either congenital or acquired);
- bradycardia;
- liver failure;
- the presence of intolerance to the elements of the drug;
- combination with drugs that prolong QT parameters (terfenadine, erythromycin, as well as antiarrhythmics with gatifloxacin, thioridazine, lithium drugs and astemizole);
- combination with diltiazem, verapamil or cimetidine.
Caution is required when prescribing to people with a history of seizures.

- dizziness or paresthesia;
- convulsive attacks, tardive dyskinesia (rarely);

Overdose
Intoxication is accompanied by tachycardia, prolongation of the QT interval, drowsiness, decreased blood pressure, and slurred speech. Sometimes ventricular tachycardia is also observed, which is paroxysmal in nature.
To eliminate the disorders, it is necessary to cancel the drug, perform gastric lavage, and also prescribe the patient to take laxatives with sorbents. The drug does not have an antidote, so symptomatic measures are carried out, and the condition of the victim is monitored in the hospital - until the symptoms of the overdose completely disappear.
Interactions with other drugs
It is prohibited to combine the medication with substances that prolong the QT interval.
Drugs that inhibit the activity of the CYP2D6 element (including quinidine with paroxetine, as well as fluoxetine) increase blood levels of the active component of the drug, which is why regular ECG examinations are required.
Combination with verapamil, erythromycin or diltiazem causes an increase in blood levels of Serdolect.
The degree of increase in drug indicators is higher in individuals with reduced activity of the CYP2D6 component.
The use of phenobarbital, rifampicin, carbamazepine or phenytoin can potentiate the metabolism of the active ingredient, due to which the neuroleptic indicators decrease. In this regard, in order to achieve the desired effect, it may be necessary to increase the dosage.
Storage conditions
Serdolect must be kept at temperatures within 25°C.
Shelf life
Serdolect can be used within 5 years from the date of release of the drug.
Application for children
The use of Serdolect in pediatrics (under 18 years of age) is prohibited.
Analogues
Analogues of the drug include such drugs as Risperidone, Zeldox, Sertindole with Rileptide, as well as Zipsil and Sulpiride.
Reviews
Serdolect is used by patients with schizophrenia or panic attacks. The therapy is always long-term and continuous. Almost everyone who has used the drug notes that negative manifestations develop after its use. Among these symptoms, reviews usually highlight dulling of emotional reactions, weight gain, and weakening of libido. If side effects are significant, it is necessary to consult a doctor about transferring the patient to another neuroleptic.
The advantages of the medication include the absence of a suppressive effect on cognitive functions - Serdolect, on the contrary, stimulates their activity.
