Restasis helps protect and moisturize the cornea of the eye. Its active ingredient is cyclosporine, which has an immunosuppressive effect that develops after systemic use.
When suppressing the processes of producing tears in persons with keratoconjunctivitis, the local use of drops causes the development of immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory activity. [1]

It is used to reduce the volume of tears produced in the treatment of keratoconjunctivitis .
Release form
The release of the therapeutic element is realized in the form of eye drops, which are packaged in 1-dose vials.
Dosing and administration
The drops are used for local treatment. Before starting the procedure, it is required to turn the medicinal bottle several times - until an opaque white emulsion of a uniform nature is obtained. It is necessary to instill 1 drop of emulsion inside each conjunctival sac (2 times a day, observing a certain time interval).
- Application for children
Cannot be used on persons under the age of 18.
Use Restasis during pregnancy
It is forbidden to prescribe Restasis during pregnancy.
Contraindications
The main contraindications:
- infections in the eye area with an active form;
- period of breastfeeding;
- intolerance to the medication.
- Caution is required when using drugs in persons with keratitis, which is of a herpetic nature.
Side effects Restasis
The use of drops often causes a burning sensation in the eye area. In addition, there may be itching, irritation, pain, conjunctival hyperemia, discomfort and discharge from the eyes, as well as photophobia, headaches, blurred eyes, and dry eyes.
Sometimes there is hyperemia and edema in the eyelids, keratitis, accompanied by the appearance of ulcers, nausea, dizziness, epidermal rash and increased lacrimation.
Storage conditions
Restasis is kept out of the reach of small children under standard conditions and temperatures for pharmaceutical products.
Shelf life
Restasis can be used for a period of 24 months from the date of sale of the therapeutic substance.

Analogues of drugs are Cyclosporin, Orgasporin and Sandoz with Consupren, as well as Ecoral.
