Pharmacological group – proton pump inhibitors. International name – rabeprazole. The drug is effective in the treatment and prevention of acid-dependent diseases. Can be used only as prescribed by a doctor with an individual selection of dosage and duration of therapy.
Rabizol is available only with a doctor's prescription. If the medication causes poor health or side effects, you should immediately contact your doctor to select an analog drug or review the dosage.

Indications Rabisol
Indications for use of Rabizol are based on the mechanism of action of its active component - rabeprazole. The drug is used to treat the following diseases:
- Duodenal ulcer
- Eradication of Helicobacter pуlоri (subject to complex therapy with other antibacterial drugs selected by the doctor)
- Stomach ulcer
- Exacerbation of chronic gastritis
- Non-ulcer dyspepsia
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease
One of the features of using this medicine is that before therapy it is necessary to undergo a medical examination to exclude malignant neoplasms. If the tablets are prescribed to patients with severe liver and kidney dysfunction, then strict medical supervision is required in the early stages of treatment.
Release form
The tablet form of release significantly simplifies the process of taking the medicine. Since the patient has the opportunity to select the necessary dosage and calculate the number of tablets for the full course of treatment.
The tablets are enteric-coated, round, biconvex, smooth on both sides, light yellow (10 mg) and light pink (20 mg). One package contains 1-2 strips of 14 tablets. Active ingredient: rabeprazole, excipients: light magnesium oxide, sodium croscarmellose (AC-DI-SOL), hydroxypropyl cellulose, polyethyleneglycol 6000, mannitol and others.
Pharmacodynamics
Pharmacodynamics Rabizol is its mechanism of action. The drug belongs to the category of antisecretory compounds, which are substituted benzamidazolams (chemically). The drug does not have anticholinergic properties, but by inhibiting the enzyme H + / K + -ATPase, it inhibits the secretion of gastric acid on the secretory surface of the parietal cells of the gastric mucosa. The above-described enzyme system refers to acid pump inhibitors, since rabeprazole blocks the production of acid at the final stage, turning into an active substance - sulfonamide.
After taking Rabizol, an antisecretory effect occurs within an hour, lasting 2-4 hours. Suppression of the function of stimulating food secretion of acid occurs 20-23 hours after taking the first dose. The duration of this effect is 48 hours and does not increase with prolonged use of the drug. After the end of the course of treatment, secretory activity is restored within 2-3 days.
Taking 10-20 mg of rabeprazole increases the concentration of gastrin (a hormone produced by cells of the stomach and pancreas) in the blood serum, which suppresses acid secretion. This effect is observed with regular use of the drug for 12 months. The hormone returns to normal 1-2 weeks after the end of treatment. To date, there is no reliable data on the systemic effects of the drug on the respiratory, cardiovascular system and the central nervous system.
Pharmacokinetics
Information on the pharmacokinetics of Rabizol allows you to learn about the processes that occur with the drug after it enters the body.
- Absorption – the tablets are enteric coated, so they dissolve and are absorbed in the intestines, not the stomach. The maximum concentration in the blood plasma is observed 2-4 hours after administration. Bioavailability depends on the dosage. If 20 mg was taken, the bioavailability is 52% taking into account the first pass through the liver.
- Distribution – binding of the active substance to blood proteins at a level of 97%.
- Metabolism and excretion – 90% is excreted by the kidneys as metabolites, the remaining 10% in the feces.
Dosing and administration
The method of administration and dosage are individual for each patient and depend on the indications for use. If the patient has a peptic ulcer, peptic ulcer of the stomach or GERD, then 20 mg is used for therapy once a day (if necessary, the dosage is increased). The duration of treatment for these diseases takes from 2 to 8 weeks, if maintenance therapy is carried out, then the tablets are taken for 12 months.
Ulcer dyspepsia is treated with 20-40 mg of rabeprazole for a month. For the treatment of chronic gastritis, 40 mg per day is prescribed for 3-4 weeks. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome is treated by taking 20-120 mg of the drug, the duration of treatment is from 2-8 weeks. If the drug is used for the eradication of H. Pylori, then a combined regimen is used and the dosage of all drugs is selected by the attending physician.

Use Rabisol during pregnancy
The use of Rabizol during pregnancy is prohibited. To date, there is no reliable information on the safety of Rabizol for the fetus. According to studies, rabeprazole can penetrate the placental barrier. The drug is not used during lactation, since the active substance can be excreted with breast milk into the baby's body.
The use of the drug during pregnancy is possible in cases where the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risks to the normal development of the fetus.
Contraindications
Contraindications for the use of Rabizol are hypersensitivity to the active substance and other ingredients of the drug. The drug is not used during pregnancy and lactation.
The tablets are used with special caution in case of severe liver and kidney dysfunction. The medicine is not prescribed to minors, as a number of uncontrolled side effects are possible.
Side effects Rabisol
Side effects of Rabizol occur if the conditions for using the drug are not met. As a rule, side effects are minor and quickly disappear. Most often, patients experience nausea and vomiting, headaches and dizziness. Flatulence, belching, increased activity of liver enzymes, abdominal pain, taste disturbances and dry mouth are possible.
Adverse symptoms are possible from the hematopoietic system (leukopenia, thrombocytopenia), from the nervous system (drowsiness, depression, headaches), as well as allergic reactions (bronchospasm, skin rash and itching).

Interactions with other drugs
Interaction Rabizol with other drugs is used when there is a therapeutic need and the doctor has selected the dosage of all drugs. Since rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor, it causes a long-term decrease in the production of hydrochloric acid and can interact with other drugs, the absorption of which is completely dependent on the pH of the stomach contents.
When used with ketoconazole and digoxin, rabeprazole reduces their concentration in blood plasma. When Rabizol is used simultaneously with any drugs, medical supervision is required for timely dose adjustment.

Storage conditions
Compliance with the storage conditions of Rabizol is a guarantee of the preservation of the medicinal properties of the drug. Rabizol should be kept in a dry place, protected from sunlight and inaccessible to children. The temperature should not be higher than 25 °C.
If these conditions are not met, the medicine loses its properties and is prohibited for use.
Shelf life
The shelf life is 24 months from the date of manufacture. If the medicine is used after the expiration date indicated on the package, it may cause serious side effects on many organs and systems. Failure to comply with storage rules also affects suitability for use.
